About Ram rock: Nago clone works sometimes, other spacings you have to spin. WWA works too but it's all on a read. It's fucked up because not only does spacing between you and Ram matter, but the spacing between Ram and the corner does too. You just have to know where the rock is going to be in relation to your body (when she's fast and the Strive camera man is drunk) and then commit ahead of time with the right option. She dies if I'm right... but I die if I'm wrong.

@Konakonizumi bro was high mid tier at best. Best way to say you never learn matchups. Even non zato players clearly say he is not only the worst character but horribly bad.
hhahhaa! I always wanted to hear your thoughts. to me, he got shafted by system mechanics that favor more resources and burst that more easily let players ease the pressure of mix up characters. not to mention that the mix-up characters have a worse wild assault.
"it gets me upset, it's not fair", perfectly encapsulates this character this patch. We have to pilot one of the hardest characters in the game and get no reward for it, zato this patch is almost completely nonfunctional
Playing the hardest character doesn't justify totally denying interaction to the opponent with no actual down time as you did pre nerfs. Get good, lab, develop adaptations to the nerfs. He is not even nearly as bad as you are making him out to be
@@YoungYoung95 that is not at all what I said, and zato had plenty of counterplay even pre patch. I definitely need to practice and improve, but the fact that many of zato's options are exceptionally bad or downright nonfunctional (like break the law) is unacceptable
I was "lucky" enough to have stopped playing Zato before they killed him but man, now I don't even want to think about picking this character up again. He was so fun and rewarding but now playing him is pain :(.
As a mid-level player, should I stick to Zato so that I can continue to learn the fundamentals of GGST and fighting games? I want to continue to improve but fear that investing time into another character will be wasteful, especially if top Zatos can still beat the average online player. This MU chart is aimed towards the highest level of play and I am not sure if reaching that high level will be more efficient with Zato or a different character. Great vid btw 👍
Im also kinda in the same spot although I picked up the character recently. Id say have some faith, this games still getting patched and we’ve seen some massive turn arounds in tier placements like with sin or anji. And the community has been very vocal about zatos issues so it’s likely he’s getting some help. But as for playing him now Id say you should still go for it, theres worse low tiers in the world of fighting games if Im honest.
Honestly how bad characters are at a top level shouldn't matter for a really long time, so you should just pick who you think is cool unless you're trying to win tournaments. You'll improve more if you pick a character on whom you're more motivated to improve at the end of the day
Thanks for the response! Winning tournaments is the end goal but I definitely understand I'm nowhere near there yet. I'll continue to play the blind man and hopefully I'll get good enough to drop him lol (hopefully he's fixed by then)
@@aleunefgcstuffiguessidk I'm sure even if he still remains where he is you can win some locals with enough bracket luck. But yeah if you want a more consistent character Zato might not be your guy.

I don't really feel bad for Zato. I've always thought his gauge filled up too fast. Maybe they overdone it, but it seems that he now just gets punished for losing Eddie which seems logical to me. Or is it not only about the bar?
That wasnt the only change though. Aside from a bunch of other characters either abusing WA or having a new move, Zato cant fly long enough to stall for eddie, his P normals got nerfed which mattered alot to combat other moves, and Break the law doesnt bait burst and YRC anymore so the zato player cant even get around his systemic weaknesses. And if he baits either of those two things, he blocks them which removes or kills eddie. Why should zato lose for making the correct play?
@@sorafowler4497 I see. Didn't know some of that stuff. Guess, as I just play Bedman, Zato never really feels that bad of a character when I play against him. I'm kinda sorry now, but still just kinda. Hope asw buff some stuff, but not the bar recovery
@@ВладТропинин Yeah, its quite unfortunate. And sometimes, sacrificing Eddie is the correct play to combat somethings, and so the longer cooldown time on eddie effects that too. And strive is a much more aggressive game than the previous iterations of GG, so having this long ass time on your character not being playable, along with all of the other mentioned stuff, it really makes Zato not a worthwhile character to play. I can understand feeling as though he was too strong tho, especially considering his matchup against bedman, but out of all the top tiers in season 2, I think Zato was the most fair of them all
Yeah, he probably was. At least more bearable than, say, Ramlethal or Chipp. Eddie gauge depleting after yrc and btl not baiting yrc sounds pretty bullshit, actually. Well, he still has a new move to get. Always a chance it'll be a game changer and will make him better.@@sorafowler4497
