  • A short video of the progress building my Kato train track.
    This is not a review and not too much into detail. Just some material for you, the model train track builder, to get some inspiration of how to, or how not to build your own track. Any suggestions, comments or other critics are welcome in the comment section. After all, I am new at this myself so all info is welcome.

      Hi Ron, an update will be coming soon. It’s not the same layout though… There were too many hurdles to overcome so I changed the design, not as spectacular but I like it. Maybe in the future it will go up as well, time will tell. Thanks for checking in. 👍🏻

      I had to change the plan. Now L shape with a second level reverse loop. The helix the way I wanted to put it together turned out to be too much hassle so scrapped the plan. I will post an update when the track is layer out.
      Thanks for watching and the comments. 👍🏻

      You get Steam engines?

    • @RailfanRene
      @RailfanRene  Год назад +1

      Nah sorry. 2 Florida East Coast, 2 BNSF Gevo,s and 2 Amtrak ALC-42 chargers. I do like steamers in real life but for n scale I’ll stick to the diesels. N scale is too small to show the mechanics of steamers which is the interesting part.

    I noticed the helix in your video. How are you building it. Looks pretty different from most helix. Exciting!

      I used threaded rods for pillars and put some wooden platforms between two nuts as track support. Needed 16 pillars though to prevent the track from bending. It was a nice open design but too much work and difficult to fix it to the wall since it was planned to go toetje ceiling. But… I changed the layout to an L shape track and no helix for now. Am thinking about a plan to include one later but this will be with a solid floor to reduce the amount of pillars needed. Update might coming out on Friday. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏻

    What size was your layout? How long by how wide?

      The one in the video was 8 by 2.5 feet. But it now changed Roman L shape track. Update coming out on Friday. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏻

    Wow! Do you have to use more boosters for that much track or several Locos running (the 5 amp smart booster) using the NCE Cab system?

    • @RailfanRene
      @RailfanRene  Год назад +2

      Hi NitroStar. I should be fine with this setup as it should be able to run about 8 N scale locos at the time. I don’t think the size of track will make a difference in power consumption and I do have many Kato feeder tracks, 20-041, installed to keep the power distributed sufficiently. It is just me using the track so I should be fine all together running this size of track with this setup.

      it's his track layout he can do what he wants with it.
      If he is happy with it, that's all that matters.
      I just started my N Gauge railway its not going to be anywhere close to prototypical, and I'm OK with that.

      @@patd4u2no worries mate, I read the comment in a positive way, like that’s not overboard I need way more.
      The track is being changed at the moment, the helixes were too much of a nightmare so there is an L-shape track on the way. I will post it when ready.
