I think cap sleeve blouses are a great option in warmer weather - much more skin coverage than any kind of tank but still a bit cooler than a traditional short sleeved blouse. Plus, they layer well with cardigans and blazers if you’re going in and out of air conditioning. Add in a some ruching at the neckline (rather than crew neck) and it’s even cooler and more feminine without being inappropriate.
Anna, would you do any videos on what looks cheap for men? Most of my guy friends would love some advice in this field, especially when it comes to work and career ❤️ Thank you

That's common sense. Code of ethics. Professional women also followed a similar pattern. Crazed feminism has gotten into women's heads that they can dress and behave as they please and no one can complain. It has become competition, one wants to appear more than the other to draw attention. One day I was watching a comment from a US Navy officer, if they didn't control women's uniforms, many would wear miniskirts, short shorts, and walk around with their uniform shirt tied around their waists and buttons unbuttoned.

Early in my career someone advised me to “always dress for the job that you want..and not the job you have.” Meaning, to always dress elegant and professional even if you are in a junior job..you will be taken more seriously and it can influence (rightly or wrongly) your opportunity for promotion.
The dress code in my office is legit homeless chic. People put it no effort - I'm talking yoga pants, sandals, stained cardigans. When I first started working there I was tempted to change my style to fit in, but I still show up looking professional. Nothing over the top - tailored pants, simple blouse, low heels, hair in a bun and light makeup. I get compliments almost EVERY DAY. From colleagues, people who visit the office etc. I feel like because the bar is so low, it makes me look fantastic 😂
I agree with you I. I work in the medical field and people dress so sloppy nowadays whereas I do not. I wear an actual uniform and I always always get compliments.
@@personincognito3989 I'm in that field as well and yes I do the sloppy thing as well . It has certain advantages . I mostly work with very very poor people , so wearing something 'sloppy' makes us juniors a bit more approachable . If we dress up with very expensive very tailored ones , patients do become more distant . I still get tailored stuff but everything must be very subtle.
I actually went in to my new job for a tour before starting and my colleague was wearing denim shorts and a vest top... and yes we work in an office not the beach! It was very strange and it made me feel awkward in my workwear
Visible underwear is so common nowadays... it leaves a sense of neglet on the person. What I do in summer is wear sleeveless blouses, because I wear blazers no matter the weather; that way I can put the blazer on whenever I am with people, but can leave it in the coat rack when I'm alone in my office.
When I'm working in my office, I always have a blazer on a hanger. It's useful for many reasons. Depending on the office, you can also wear cap sleeves, the kind that are just an inch or two past your shoulders. I have one very professional summer dress with cap sleeves - I'll wear my blazer if necessary. If you don't work in an office, the rules change ... you should wear clothing just a tiny bit more professional than everyone else. So if jeans and a t-shirt are normal work clothing, wear a fitted tee of high quality fabric and plain dark wash jeans. [My office is on the 41st floor of the tallest skyscraper in the city, and it's a very conservative field, so I need to look very professional.] 8cm is a touch over 3 inches, not quite 3.5".
My advice as an addition: no Louboutins, flashy or big jewelry, no fishnets, no big logo stuff (or actually any logo stuff too noticable), no trashy parfume...
Logos are never a good idea for the office, because they put money in the picture and send mixed messages. "I can afford luxury items, I don't need a raise" Also, some of them are just tacky.
I’d like to add one: too much perfume! I love perfume but one should be mindful of others that may have allergies or sensitivities to perfume. I’ve worked with many ladies (and men) that I could still smell minutes after they walked through a room. That’s too much!
If jeans are the standard in your office environment I always wear dark ones and pair them with heels, a tailored shirt and classy statement necklace. Just like anything, jeans can be dressed up when paired with the right tops or accessories.
120% agreed♥️♥️...I'm a professor and bold color jeans are the best for work. Just like you described... A nice blouse, an elegant blazer and good boots, ballerinas or low heels.
Same! I work in a lab and wear jeans, steel toed boots, and a polo everyday. Everything is tailored and and I always wear earrings and a watch. I look ten levels better than every other woman there in a t shirt.
I’m a 24 year old lady from India🇮🇳 and in the last 3 days I’ve binge watched all your videos, started reading your blogs and I’m listening to your podcast as well🙈, Anna🤎 I love you so so much! You have reallyyy helped elevate my style💃🏻💃🏻 Thank you, my dear elegant lady 😘♥️
We can learn so much from this Lady. Not just about elegance, etiquette... but I also improve my English by listening to her. She is very eloquent for non native English speaker. Thank you dear Anna!🙏❤
Yes,i agree with you,l really love her accent and the way she talks, also I learn a lot of vocabularies about fashion, elegance, etiquette and so much more.
You have no idea how many native speakers make grammatical errors all the time. For instance, 'should of' instead of 'should have'. It just hurts my eyes when I see people writing that. This error mostly happens because of the way they hear English. When we pronounce it here in the UK, both of these sound pretty much exactly the same. There's obviously more.
When I got my first office job, my mentor recommended some classic, high end pieces for me. They were a major splurge for me at the time and seemed like "boring" pieces to buy but fast forward 15 years and I still own them and they still look great!
I’m in college but this is still great advice! College is a great time to brand yourself and one of the first impressions people form off of you is the way you dress, and you will attract certain people depending on how you dress.
Honestly, the issues I have with the clothes that are sold where I am and the dislike of online shopping has driven me to decide to enroll on garment classes when my uni course is completed. I'm so tired of not finding clothes I like and am comfortable in. Time to learn how to make my own. And I can turn it into a business eventually. :)
Good luck!! I started sewing over a year ago, and it's a loooong process, but you will be sure that your clothes are perfect for your lifestyle, body and taste. It's amazing ;)
I take thrift store clothes and alter them to fit me after watching youtube tutorial on basic garment making . I now am completing a 1300s style fitted dress thanks to my experimentations. I definitely recommend taking classes !
Honestly this should be basic knowledge but sadly we’re living in a culture that is backsliding. This should be required watching by any woman entering the workforce!
@@enelrahcreivaj when I was in middle school, the art teacher, desperate for the make-up and dress of some of the students, organized a make-up course. they probably always should. if no one teaches them how to dress and make up, someone will have to.
I started my new job 2 weeks ago and i was the only one who dressing appropriate office attire. My other coworkers were mostly in skinny jeans and collar t-shirt. i was a bit awkward to be the only one who dress nice and feels out of place even though i am dressing appropriately and decided to not follow their way of dressing to feel fit in. after a fews days i started seeing they're putting more effort into their looks! some even take inspo from my outfit. this shows that they're probably feels shy to put effort into their looks since everyone is so casual. ladies, dont stop putting effort into your look even though you're the only one, it will encourage others to dress nice too
Spot on advice as always Anna. I would personally emphasize no sleeveless and mini skirts. Work spaces tend to be unbearably cold plus the last thing for you is to be uncomfortable while doing your job.
Haha, at a previous workplace, we had daily shouting matches about the office temperature between some of the male colleagues who were required to wear long trousers and closed shoes, having to run around the offices all day and the assistant who sat at her desk wearing close to nothing. We just couldn't make her understand that it's more considerate if she'd put on a blazer or a cardigan than whacking up the aircon to 35 celsius. (I too felt uncomfortable because due to the nature of my work, I was wearing long, thick denim and trainers) Still loved that work tho.
Whether we like it or not, we do send out a message with whatever outfit we are wearing. If you want to be taken seriously at work, you have to dress like someone who would be taken seriously! Thank you for these tips, Anna
especially important after the long homeoffice phase: check your wardrobe if the things still fit properly. Let me put it that way: the lockdown made me grow a bit - I needed to replace some items to make the whole outfit look great again.
Anna is spot on with this! I work in the financial industry where the men wear suits but I still see their female assistants wearing casual clothes. It looks awkward when clients enter the office and they see such a drastic difference in dress.
This is timely because I'm getting to the point in my paralegal program where I need to start thinking about my professional wardrobe. I've worked very hard to get good grades in order to get a job at a good firm; it would be a shame to ruin my chances with an inappropriate wardrobe! Thanks.
Thank you. I’m tired of some women complaining about the reactions when they come to work in bodycon dresses, yoga pants, etc. Although people shouldn’t treat others bad regardless, reality has shown us all that you are treated better when you’re dressed sharp on the job. I don’t see how some people don’t get this. I knew it at 16 years old. Then again my mother taught me this by how she dressed. Everyone doesn’t have a good mentors, so I get that part.
I firmly believe in dressing for the part that you want at work. At one workplace, I dressed more professionally than my coworkers (who wore graphic t-shirts and jeans) and my manager wanted to promote me in less than a year. It works!
As a law student I got a summer job at a big law firm and there was a man working at the office who dressed very casually like he was about to do manual work. I assumed he was the janitor but after a couple of days found out he was actually one of the partners at the firm... Even though you're in a high position where you can do whatever you want, I think you should still show respect to your co-workers by dressing appropriately.
Years ago I went for an interview at a top news agency in London and was so appalled and disappointed, the woman interviewing me was wearing flip flops and a flimsy beach dress. It looked so unprofessional and ridiculous. First impressions do count and it put me off. Adore this channel - Thank you, Anna
Curious what Anna thinks about this. I’ve got some stunning new work dresses, clearly high quality. Would look silly with a top on underneath and would rather not wear a blazer.
Some garments don't look sheer at home but then they will in harsh office light... I always wear two layers even when it is quite hot/warm... You just never know even when it is a jumper!
This video answered quite a few things I was unsure about. Re: makeup. On the very rare occasions I have worn very minimal makeup, I have been told that I look tired and people wonder if I am ok. I don’t think looking tired is very professional. Unfortunately I can’t get away with just a bit of mascara and so I pretty much do a full face of makeup for work.
I think full face vs dramatic face is an inportant distinction. Also skin care including nutrition prior to makeup can have the largest effect on "tired appearance". In Europe where Anna is the emphasis on minimal makeup is more pronounced than in America. While still quite corporate, Americans love a little extra makeup vs the U.K..
I advise you to take an undertone session especially for make up. You know that some colors won’t suit some types of skin undertone and make appear pale or sick even though If you tried the same lipstick for example on another undertone they will look good and healthy. When you take the session you will see yourself that you don’t need tons of make up to glow. Good luck❤️
Dressing too casual at work isn’t just an issue for women. I remember when I worked in sports at a major media conglomerate and the CEO was taking a deeper interest in our division’s success so he was scheduled to come by our office of 100 people. The head of production actually had to have a wardrobe conversation with all the men as the tech guys wore flip flops and basketball warmups to work…one guy literally didn’t even own a pair of jeans or khakis and had to go out and buy them to wear on the day that the CEO was coming. 🤦♀️
@@helenafranco5091 because presentation matter. If the CEO is coming and people look as if they were “hanging out” instead of presenting a somewhat professional image there could be some serious re-evaluation done. Knowing and doing your job is only part of it.
@@helenafranco5091 they weren’t being asked to dress in a suit, just not look like they were wearing pajamas to work. They were asked to just wear khakis and a t-shirt (not even button up) and closed toed shoes (even tennis shoes ok). It wasn’t asking the world as the other departments already did that. The whole reason behind this video is that presentation and optics matter, and the office environment isn’t an exception. And, the CEO was a traditional media guy from Australia (3 guesses, LOL) not someone who came from the startup tech world where the casual culture is more familiar and acceptable. We didn’t want the CEO to roll into the tour of the office and think that we were a shoddy organization with “slackers” that could be replaced and have even better results.
I have been getting rid of clothes that cannot allow me to easily conceal my undergarments. The operative word here is “easily.” I know there are tools and clips for bras, but I find them cumbersome to use. Your wardrobe should work for you and so we must be realistic on what steps we will do. I won’t and haven’t used these tools, so I donated the tops and the clips too!
I did this too. no one wants to be plucking at their clothes all day to get them to lay nice. its distracting to ourselves , others and is uncomfortable.
Dressing sharp for the office can help increase your pay over time… and especially older women need to put in the effort to be taken seriously. I work with a gracious 70-yr-old who always has her hair cut & coloured, and wears appropriate makeup & clothes. She’s my hero!
my boss complimented my clothes a few days ago by saying i look very professional and in general i get compliments from my coworkers too, the only rule i don’t always follow is wearing tops that don’t show off the shoulders, summer here is extremely hot and i don’t wanna be too sweaty so i usually go for a high neck sleeveless top and i think it still looks elegant
THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT VIDEO BECAUSE It was quick and to the point ..not one word wasted ..the information covered all ponts with photos which supports the 10 points AND , ANNA, YOUR MAKEUP IS WONDERFUL IN THIS VIDEO ..YOUR PRESENTATION ABILITY IS FLAWLESS
In the “visible undergarment and sheer clothes” I was disappointed not to see Bridget Jones and her sheer blouse at the office when she flirts with her boss 😂
I was visiting the Vice Chancellor of a University for a sales call and my account executive was turned away from the meeting because she was wearing a sleeveless dress. Eventually my male co worker gave her a jacket and she was able to wear that and attend the meeting but it was very awkward and could have been a big problem if she wasn’t able to borrow a jacket.
Only if people could understand thisss! There are female fashion influencers in my country who suggest wearing bralettes underneath a waistcoat to work!! Ughhh. Thank you Anna for amplifying this❤️
Yess. Well, those fashion influencers probably never had a job with an actual dress code, so they think anything is appropriate at work space 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for this Anna - most women work (either for a company or own their business) and it is important to appear feminine for their own sake without sacrificing professionalism. Remember that not too long ago women were excluded from earning their own income, so being feminine and professional is an absolute MUST in order to advance.
Thank you Anna! I just graduated University and I have my first interview for a serious job position on Monday. I will take these to heart (though through your past videos I was able to deduce these), it was a perfectly-timed reminder.
You really want to elevate Women. Your delivery is always so positive and uplifting. Also I love that you provide tips that most people can follow. Thank you Anna!
As an owner of a CPA practice that is the most established non-local firm in Hong Kong, I agree with all of these except for sleeveless tops. Spaghetti straps are a no-no, but a stylish sleeveless high-neck top in the humid Hong Kong summers (perhaps with a shrug or blazer on hand) is perfectly acceptable here.
Yeah. The sleeveless rule is different depending on where you go. Here in Canada, as long as your sleeveless top is structured with no cleavage, you could get away with it unless your office is formal (full suit dress code)
@@TheKarebear666 I get your meaning, however, think for a moment about how it sounds. "Getting away with it" is not what Anna's about. You know she is trying to inspire us to level up. "Getting away with it" reminds me of another expression I sometimes hear when someone is trying to sell me a dress or outfit in loud, busy, or large patterns I just don't care for. Their expression is, "But you can pull it off." Whenever I hear that, I think to myself, "Yes, I suppose I COULD 'pull it off,' but is that all I'm hoping to achieve? I'm looking for something flattering that's in my taste, not something I can just hope to "pull off.'" I don't know if the latter is an expression where you are from, so please forgive me if this is not helpful.
@@ohdear2275 I think she meant the office will allow you to still wear it (I.e. not send you home) but it's not the preferred type of workwear depending on your office dress code and position/role at work. I'm from Canada and I have worn structured (high neck), sleeveless, non transparent or revealing (I.e. no cleavage, no gaps under the arms where you can see my bra) tops at work and I work at downtown law firms - just have a cardigan or blazer on hand when you need to meet clients.
And yesss!!!! About the footwear. Personally, I guard my “toe cleavage” as just as sacred as my, well, my regular cleavage. Wearing truly comfortable classic shoes are truly a game changer!
I completely agree with all these points! I would also add super bulky jewellery as it isn't professional in my opinion. I love your top in this video too Anna, it really suits you.
Besides the sleeveless I do follow already these rules at the office, but still try to look fashionable. Also I know for a fact that some of our ladies do wear tight and short stuff to deliberately catch attention of certain men to get ahead at work, and sometimes it seems to work, they usually get the promotion and raise. So yeah, it really depends sometimes.
Definitely seen the same trend in the office. The girls in very very tight dresses using it to their advantage. My male colleague once even confessed to me he personally tried to bail a girl out when she wasn’t performing work wise simply because of her “charm” - she had her bum stick out from under dresses is my translation for you all.
Totally on point video. I once had a great boss who told me that at work, "You want men listening to your thoughts, not thinking about your thighs." That stuck with me.
Your dressing sense is so elegant. My dressing sense is exactly like you. I don't understand why girls don't understand that revealing clothes looks cheap doesn't makes you look beautiful at all
I wish people in the uk or the design Industry dressed neat / actually put effort in. I love wearing wide leg trousers and an elegant blouse but I always feel like I’m over dressed as all my colleagues turn up in glorified pyjamas a.k.a. T-shirt and some Jeggings with slippers!!!! It’s mind melting. They make me feel like the clown for dressing like I’m going to WORK! 😂 madness. Anyone feel the same?
Hahaha, I agree with you. In my previous workplace I was always the "overdressed" staff even when I wear jeans & t-shirt (with a blazer). Colleague asked me: "why do you always look like you are going out when you are coming to work" Me: "Leaving my house is going out". Her: (no words).
Anna you know my style has developed so much over the time. Everytime I dress I always think what would Anna say when she sees this. Thank you so much.
Well, when I started my working life back in Poland all those rules applied, plus one never to show bare legs. But then I moved to London, and in my 10 years working in a ftse 100 company I saw well too many badly dressed women on the office floor being promoted. Office politics plus what you could do mattered more. I'm not saying it was a good thing but that was the reality. Some women just don't care or have a bad taste. By being elegant you place yourself one step higher but it won't save you if you lack right knowledge or contacts.
Always dress to impress! I wore a suit and brogues to an interview at a part time job in a grocery store while I’m studying at uni and other applicants wore jeans etc! And I got the job x
I watched this with my cousin, and said to her that we should take this into consideration due to me finishing university in a year and going into the work industry she looked at me like I was crazy and then I remembered that she is a medical intern so she uses scrubs at work all the time 😅😅
I had to watch you as a balm after I sadly watched a video of a woman giving style "advice" for over 40 and 50. She was telling people to shop at teen store Express, wear gold heeled sandals, and distressed, ripped jeans. She looked like those housewife people on TV. I was appalled!!! Everything was about her Balmain blazer. Thank you for imparting actual good advice.
I’ve worked in consulting forever. All of your tips were part of our official dress code, so I agree. Clients pay a lot for your expertise and you need to look like it. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have.
Working in finances I can only agree! The thing suprised me most in the beginning was the "no open shoe and no sleeveless tops", but by now feel absolutely comfortable with them. I also like the way dress pants shape my body a lot more than regular jeans. When it gets very hot in the summer we are allowed to wear blouses with no sleeve, but definetly no spaghetti straps. In my experience you really should not be wearing anything that could be "Sexual" in any shape or form in the office (there sadly will be enough weird clients trying to hit on you anyways). Not saying that wearing grannys wardrobe ist the right way to go, but there are clothes that shape your body without making everyone looking somewhere else instead of your face☺️
Such a wonderful video - thank you Anna for all of these tips! I work in a court room so I will definitely apply this information! For a future video, would you consider what “university students should and shouldn’t wear” to appear more elegant? Thank you again!
Anna thank you! My job often requires me to be dressed in rehearsal clothes (I am a stage actor) and i always hate that it’s the norm to wear leggings for movement as I like to feel levelled up and confident- this video has given me some great ideas to level up how I dress even when I have to be dressed for rehearsal ❤️
Thank you for the CANDID advice!! Thank you for laying it out, and showing me that I even have some areas I can improve on! We all need frank feedback.
This video was helpful! I struggle so much with dressing up for work because my figure is very curvaceous which is viewed as too sexy despite whatever I wear😓
Maybe look up some classy style icons? Marilyn Monroe, Joan from Mad Men, etc. As a curvy figured gal, retro clothing styles seem to look best on my figure but still seem feminine
This is me lmao. I just bought a super cute 50s inspired dress that is not supposed to be super tight buy it looks tight on me, even if it fits properly. It doesn't come out as bodycon, either, and because the fabric is thick, I believe it can be worn to work.
Such wise advice. I'm retired, but I was in banking (not a teller!) and I couldn't believe some of the things some people wore to the office and we had a dress code. One woman would wear sweaters that were coming apart. She had acne and would cake her foundation on. It looked awful. Another woman would wear casual clothes, wrinkled clothes and they often had dog hair on them. I was appalled. Then we had an intern who came in a shirt that she had tied under her breasts so her midriff showed. I think that person was talked to. I don't know how the others got away with it. Such a great video. xo~linda
Well, in some part of the UK , you can see sweat pants or yoga/gym attire even at an office and everywhere, and Women wearing pyjama and morning robe on the street and shops,i was so shock! I think they do need your advices so bad dear Anna
When I first moved from Europe to the US, I was profoundly shocked by the way people dress, especially in small southern towns such as the one where I live. The flip flops, the pj's, the too short shorts, the tiny bitty revealing tank tops, the reaped jeans etc ..I couldnt believe it. I got used to the image with time, but I still would not personally wear the above mentioned items. When I started work, I felt I dressed too ellegantly in comparison with the other coworkers, and after a while i really had to downgrade my wardrobe in an effort to fit in better. Maybe I shouldn't have but i really hated to feel like an outsider.
Thank you Anna, for all your wonderful and honest advice, I’m 61yrs old and feel like a queen, l get so many compliments and even have the admiration of men, I really find it so enjoyable and believe me at my age you take all the joy of living your best life possible!
Some of these rules are very dated and old-fashioned. Especially for tropical places. I worked as an architect in public service, and even for the Board of Architecture and Urban Planning in Brazil and can assure you that most of my colleagues used some kind of sandals in summer (but not flip flops), tennis shoes all seasons, jeans of all kinds, T-shirts, sleeveless dresses (but not too revealing, just comfortable for summer). And most times women wear absolutely zero make-up. Workplaces have become increasingly more casual. I never worked anywhere that had such a strict dress code.
Oh Anna I cannot thank you enough for your teachings on being classic. I just found out I break 2 office attire rules which is wearing jeans 😔 and using red lipstick. I will make amends. My elegance is talked about everywhere I go and mostly in the office 😊 all thanks to you.
I love it when you keep saying not to reveal so much skin, I totally agree with you. It's not classy at all especially at work unless you want to attract your manager or a co-worker lol 😂

What I do in summer is wear sleeveless blouses, because I wear blazers no matter the weather; that way I can put the blazer on whenever I am with people, but can leave it in the coat rack when I'm alone in my office.
Good idea!
Yes! Blazers and little sweaters can go a long way to improve your silhouette and add warmth, modesty, and class.
[My office is on the 41st floor of the tallest skyscraper in the city, and it's a very conservative field, so I need to look very professional.]
8cm is a touch over 3 inches, not quite 3.5".
My advice as an addition: no Louboutins, flashy or big jewelry, no fishnets, no big logo stuff (or actually any logo stuff too noticable), no trashy parfume...
Louboutin does kitten heels & flats as well! 😉
why no louboutins?
@@lucyc3634 I think by "No Louboutins" she means the super high models with ultra thick platforms with studs and crazy colors.
🤣trashy perfume
Logos are never a good idea for the office, because they put money in the picture and send mixed messages. "I can afford luxury items, I don't need a raise"
Also, some of them are just tacky.
I’d like to add one: too much perfume! I love perfume but one should be mindful of others that may have allergies or sensitivities to perfume. I’ve worked with many ladies (and men) that I could still smell minutes after they walked through a room. That’s too much!
Haha! I've made this mistake before, never again!
How do you know what an appropriate amount is when your sense of smell isn’t that great? It’s so hard for me to tell these things 🥺
@@kcjean008 just put it once in three places. Both wrists and neck
So true. I love perfume too, but I'm allergic to it. Good point.
3 squirts max
If jeans are the standard in your office environment I always wear dark ones and pair them with heels, a tailored shirt and classy statement necklace. Just like anything, jeans can be dressed up when paired with the right tops or accessories.
Yes, and they have "dress pants" jeans as well, which are super comfy and classy as well.
120% agreed♥️♥️...I'm a professor and bold color jeans are the best for work. Just like you described... A nice blouse, an elegant blazer and good boots, ballerinas or low heels.
I agree

Same! I work in a lab and wear jeans, steel toed boots, and a polo everyday. Everything is tailored and and I always wear earrings and a watch. I look ten levels better than every other woman there in a t shirt.

We can learn so much from this Lady. Not just about elegance, etiquette... but I also improve my English by listening to her. She is very eloquent for non native English speaker. Thank you dear Anna!🙏❤
@TheElegantWomenThank you😊😍
Yes,i agree with you,l really love her accent and the way she talks, also I learn a lot of vocabularies about fashion, elegance, etiquette and so much more.
@Amerizuelan I was thinking more of her vocabulary then grammar, but thank you for advice, so nice of you😊
@@asmaakenkou3786 Exactly!👌😊
You have no idea how many native speakers make grammatical errors all the time. For instance, 'should of' instead of 'should have'. It just hurts my eyes when I see people writing that. This error mostly happens because of the way they hear English. When we pronounce it here in the UK, both of these sound pretty much exactly the same. There's obviously more.
When I got my first office job, my mentor recommended some classic, high end pieces for me. They were a major splurge for me at the time and seemed like "boring" pieces to buy but fast forward 15 years and I still own them and they still look great!
What are the pieces?! We need to know!
please share what your mentor recommended
I wish I had a mentor like that! I had to figure it out on my own .you were blessed !

I’m in college but this is still great advice! College is a great time to brand yourself and one of the first impressions people form off of you is the way you dress, and you will attract certain people depending on how you dress.
absolutely!
Good for you!!! Happy to hear this.
Good luck!! I started sewing over a year ago, and it's a loooong process, but you will be sure that your clothes are perfect for your lifestyle, body and taste. It's amazing ;)

Or Michigan. We have a very casual workplace...and it's a professional office. Even the bosses daughter who works here wears shorts.

When I worked in a office, I would leave a neutral sweater at my office that I could put on if the AC got too intense.
I would barely change my wardrobe for work because it was so cold in the office year round, lol🤣
Another reason to keep a blazer jacket in the office!
Sweaters work, especially cashmere cardigans, jackets are a bit more professional.
Yeah absolutely freezing
Whether we like it or not, we do send out a message with whatever outfit we are wearing. If you want to be taken seriously at work, you have to dress like someone who would be taken seriously! Thank you for these tips, Anna
Exactly! This society is very hyper sexual now
especially important after the long homeoffice phase: check your wardrobe if the things still fit properly. Let me put it that way: the lockdown made me grow a bit - I needed to replace some items to make the whole outfit look great again.
Good tip!
Thanks.
Good for you beautiful
Are you a lawyer
I've been working as a legal secretary for over 22 years, and everything she said here is spot on for law firm environment. Good luck!
He should be leading by example! Sad that he chooses not to.
😯 Wow!
A sleeveless high necked (crew or turtleneck) works in many work enviroments if your arms look good and your outfit is elevated enough.
Curious what Anna thinks about this. I’ve got some stunning new work dresses, clearly high quality. Would look silly with a top on underneath and would rather not wear a blazer.

Why should you dress more formally for the CEO if you don't do it on your everyday work with your superior?
Yes, Tech guys do dress like they are hanging with their friends.
@@helenafranco5091 because presentation matter. If the CEO is coming and people look as if they were “hanging out” instead of presenting a somewhat professional image there could be some serious re-evaluation done. Knowing and doing your job is only part of it.
😆
Straight to the point, thanks Anna

I was flying to Vienna in July oh my goodness it was as if everyone was going to the gym ,

There are female fashion influencers in my country who suggest wearing bralettes underneath a waistcoat to work!! Ughhh.

@Redwood Rebelgirl yes, sadly! And a lot of people (usually teen girls) find them cool while it's not elegant actually.
I think, I would faint, if I saw this 😄.
You could probably wear any bra to work and no one would no because you MAKE SURE no one can see it. That’s the most important part.
Yess. Well, those fashion influencers probably never had a job with an actual dress code, so they think anything is appropriate at work space 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
@Redwood Rebelgirl I agree with you. And you covered all the points pretty well! 💯✨
Thank you for this Anna - most women work (either for a company or own their business) and it is important to appear feminine for their own sake without sacrificing professionalism.
Their expression is, "But you can pull it off."
Whenever I hear that, I think to myself, "Yes, I suppose I COULD 'pull it off,' but is that all I'm hoping to achieve? I'm looking for something flattering that's in my taste, not something I can just hope to "pull off.'"
I don't know if the latter is an expression where you are from, so please forgive me if this is not helpful.

a stupid mistake I made was wearing heavy and garish costume jewellery. I was such an idiot. I look back and cringe.

Those offices in which women get promoted this way are very toxic.
Totally on point video. I once had a great boss who told me that at work, "You want men listening to your thoughts, not thinking about your thighs." That stuck with me.

I Love the way you go STRAIGHT forward to the point and not wasting time ❤❤❤❤
Working in finances I can only agree!

I think they do need your advices so bad dear Anna
I learned all of these stuff back in college (2014) during our professional development class and I couldn't agree more!!

This video comes at the perfect time as I start a new job in a couple of days! Thank you so much Anna, you wouldn't believe how much I'm learning by following you. Really appreciate your work ❤️❤️
Thankyou so much Anna❤️❤️
Can you please make a video for younger girls 18-20, going to collage and what to wear to look appropriate but not old.
Would love to hear Anna’s thoughts on school dress codes
Totally agree Anna. You are absolutely right 🌸
