Gatekeeper is the smoothest coaster I've ever been on, just above Steel Curtain. I've never experienced any rattle when I've ridden it, and those keyholes are just...oh my God they're just beautiful. Heck, the whole ride is beautiful.

The left side wing over drop in the front is alot of fun. With so many different ride positions it's very rerideable and over time I like it more.

This ride would look even cooler with a blue plexiglas tube between the keyholes and a couple of tunnels in low spots... maybe a good idea to refresh it in a few years when the new wears off...

Ive never really been bothered by the rattle, for me its just a really nice fun ride that looks great but rides like...a giant B&M looper so its nothing that'll crack my top 50 or anything

Wait, some people think Gatekeeper has a rattle? But others think Rougarou is smooth? I'm so confused right now

This was closed when I visited, and I thought it looked really interesting, but it seems as though it may look better than it rides? Thanks for the review

It's a "middle of the road" kind of coaster. Some will appreciate it more than others.

Thank you for mentioning the general public. Coaster enthusiasts drive me up the wall with their stomping their feet when a ride doesn’t have 9000 seconds of airtime and 800 foot tall drops. The ride was built for the general public. It’s supposed to look pretty and coast over the front of the park. That being said, yes it does have a rattle. That can be a little obnoxious. But, I always sit in the last seat on the right hand side and always get airtime on the airtime hill. I don’t understand why other people don’t.

Apparently there is one train riding fairly well rn, you lucked out. Rattle is definitely an issue on this and Valravn (especially after collision).

Front left side with the wing over drop is awesome. It's fun you get different rides front, left, right, and back. Stay in the front the back is shakey. Its normally a short wait for a fun ride.

I am a coaster fanatic/coaster geek and I love Gatekeeper. It's my second favorite at the park, first for me is Valravn, but Gatekeeper is a very close second, followed by Steel Vengeance. I know that the majority of riders love the airtime which is fun, but I love a coaster with twist, turns, loops and airtime mixed together that's more enjoyable to me.

Awesome! I agree about coasters that have plenty of variety. That's probably what I love most about Gatekeeper. I'm also a big fan of the dive coasters. Valravn is my mom's 2nd favorite at the park, just behind SV.

I think Gatekeeper's presentation is actually absolutely genius. They have almost no room to work with at the front but they still have it going over the entrance. The double rolls over the entrance sidewalk with the blue track and white supports is a callback to the iconic double corkscrews over the sidewalk with Corkscrew. I think it's engineering genius.

B&M need new elements and try something different. All of their coasters have pretty much the same cookie cutter stuff and they never provide a “WOW” factor. They need to put some tunnels, water features and other stuff to make their rides pop.

Based on your experience, I can understand where you're coming from. For me, this is my favorite B&M coaster of all. I am one of those that goes nuts for wing coasters. I love the feeling! My biggest complaint about B&M in general is their rattle, but almost all of my rides on Gatekeeper have been perfectly smooth, so I must have hit it at good times. It's not intense, but I wasn't looking for that with this ride. It is so glorious, and delivers on all that I want out of it. Still though, it fell out of my overall top 10 this last weekend, thanks to Storm Chaser.

Excellent review I couldn't agree with you more. The first time I rode Gatekeeper I was less than impressed I thought it was like a kiddy ride. But over the years it's grown on me and it's normally the first and last ride my daughter and I ride when we go to the point.

I found Gatekeeper very fun and although not very intense, it had floater airtime that is only to be experienced in the gut, especially towards the back. The only other wing coaster I rode was The Swarm in London and EVERYBODY agrees that on that coaster the right side is more intense than the right side, but on Gatekeeper I found both sides to be quite evenly matched! While I thought I'd love the left side for the higher over wing drop, I was just entertained by rides on the right side (where the guess aren't in the oppressively hot sun). Trigger warning: It was my 3rd favourite coaster in the park after SV and MF; TTD placing 4th and Raptor placing 5th. Thanks for this video, though! ;)

I was there 2 weeks ago. It ended up being their busiest weekend in it's 150 year history. I was glad I bought a fast pass for Saturday and had a free one for renewing my season pass for Sunday. Most lines were still 1-1/2 hours long for me both days. Wasn't my first time there though, not even this year. Moral of the story, fast pass is almost always worth it if you can afford it

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan

For some people (but not for everyone), the B&M rattle is the worst feeling on any coasters. It is instantly headache-inducing, and makes it difficult to appreciate the good things the coaster is doing inbetween the rattly moments. I can handle rattles from other manufacturers just fine, but not with B&Ms. Fortunately for me, Gatekeeper hasn't had a rattle on my rides, and I totally love it!
