Mario Golf 64 is the most mechanically sound game in the series and the best OST by a country mile. I mean, it was composed by the guy who composed for Golden Sun

I agree the music is awesome and especially the music playing on Yoshi's Island golf course, it's so memorable this game and was a part of my childhood but Toadstool Tour is definetly the best in the series

    • @Mrperson0
      @Mrperson0 5 месяцев назад

........all Mario Golf games are composed by Motoi Sakuraba. And I'd argue that Toadstool Tour's OST is much better than MG64.
Also, as a whole, Mario Golf 64 is way to archaic. Toadstool Tour, however, truly set the foundation for the series going forward and is always amazing to go back to.

I love Mario Golf n64 cuz I used to play that game with my grandma, dad, and sister all the time at my grandmas house. She randomly loved golf and bowling games from the Nintendo (original) all the way up until the GameCube. But I remember playing Mario golf n64 all the time in her little country home. That music still brings me back.
I think she also had Toadstool Tours cuz she had a gamecube also. But that was when I was a little older and we didn’t play as much.

I remember struggling thru the tournaments to the point i have to savegame very often every time i miss a possible easy birdie shot
courses like Boo Valley with all those out of bounds and heavy winds was such a savage setup lol but love the challenges

Good list! Agree with a lot of the placements. Toadstool Tour is definitely my favourite as well. Mario Golf 64 was hard as nails for me, but I still feel it's a very good golf game. I thought Super Rush was severely lacking in content, so I would've probably placed it a bit lower, but I do really like the gameplay. This vid definitely deserves more views.

I cant possibly explain how much I agree with you, I will try.
Putting mario golf for Gameboy so low was sad to watch. I completely understand how it had to be there though. However, the replay value for me has been exponential. Playing it even to this day on occasion has enabled me to chip and pitch eagles from 30 yards away sometimes at a 30% clip. The low variability of where the ball can travel enables this greatly!
Mario golf 64 was my first mario golf (got the Gameboy version a few months after). Most nostalgic mario golf for me for sure. The music was unreal, the random characters were so mysterious ( who the hell is Plum, Charlie, Sonny, Harry and Maple?). Not to mention unlocking a trippy looking DK after crazy ring shot challenges. Metal Mario was just as scary and mysterious 😳. And I 100% agree that this is the most realistic of them all. No real pro can adjust the spin like in the "better" Mario Golfs. You need precision off the tee and for iron shots to keep it close to the hole with bad lies or even in general.
Yes, any of the other remaining Mario Golfs ( except rush) has the top spin, super topspin, regular, backspin and super backspin. This alone gives so much control and really enables players to leap to a next plateau, making these 2 games infinitely more enjoyable. Much like how I include the Gameboy version.
Much Love to you, feels great for someone else to understand something so close to my heart after all these years 🍻
PS: definitely beat the elf short course in the ones that have it 😀

Right in the middle is where our opinions differ, but solid video!
Your bottom three are my bottom three and Toadstool Tour is undoubtedly the best one.
I'd be so bold as to put Super Rush at 4, Mario Golf N64 at 3, and World Tour for the 3DS at 2.
I love the game mechanics of the N64 and GameCube entries and even bought Super Rush on its release date just days after beating Toadstool Tour ... the new mechanics for the Switch gameplay just didn't hit as well as the N64 and Toadstool Tour ones.
All of the Mario sports games on the Switch in general ... just feels like there's something missing in each of them as compared to the ones that Camelot made back in the day.
    Enjoyed the video though!

I've been liking Super Rush lately like it's just an awesome game in my opinion but if I'm being honest, you're right. Toadstool tour was and still is the best golf game ever. One of the best in the whole Mario Sports series next to Mario Strikers. One of these days I might need to play it again for the nostalgia because it was that good.

I like the video but definitely disagree with the order. Mario Golf advance has far and away the best and deepest single player. That's so important with golf games. It would be my #1! Metacritic ranks the N64 game #1. I liked Toadstool Tour a lot, but I'd put it 3rd best, behind those two. I'd put Super Rush near the bottom too. They skimped on everything!

Super Rush sucks balls man. You seriously think it's better than the Game Boy titles which have fantastic RPG elements? Or even the N64 Mario Golf game which kickstarted the entire series into popularity? No just no. Wourld Tour, Toadstool Tour and the N64 and Game Boy versions are infinitely better I'd even rather play the mediocre Nes Golf games over Super Rush.

Only Nintendo consoles not having a Mario Golf of their own is DS, Wii and Wii U in which Wii surprises me the most as it had motion controls. Then again I understand Wii Sport took care of that, but it would have been cool to have a Mario Golf for Wii or that they did the same overhaul with Toadstool Tour as they did when the ported Mario Power Tennis for Wii, with motion controls!

I've recently had a lot of fun, like we were playing it everyday for half of last year and that's Everybody's Golf on PS4. I have always loved Golfing games, they are so chill with friends but can get hyper competitive very fast! I've just bought Mario Gold 3ds for £5 as i actually forgot I'd never played it. It's currently in the post 📫
EDIT- So i forgot how much I loved Mario Golf on Game Boy Colour as a kid, and it blew my mind how well it played, then it had rpg elements and I played that a ton.
But yes gaming and golf games should hopefully always be a thing, it's really hard to beat when done well.

    Haven't played NES Golf so I can't comment on that. As for the other 6;
    1. Mario Golf Advance Tour - For me, to this day, the best entry in the series by far.
    2. Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour - Still the best console entry to this day.
    3. Mario Golf (N64) - A true classic, still holds up very well today.
    4. Mario Golf (GBC) - This is basically a light version of Advance Tour, still good though.
    ---- Gap ----
    5. Mario Golf: World Tour - Alright game, but you start to notice a lot of the issues more modern Mario Sports games have.
    --- Large Gap ---
    6. Mario Golf: Super Rush - Overall just a massive disappointment. Bland Story mode, bland courses, bland animations, RNG accuracy in a game where it matters most, even the free updates couldn't save it.

interesting, my list would look a bit different, so it's cool to see someone else's perspective.. I like how gbc mario golf has no "helpers" on it's hud, so you have to do all the math in your head to calculate the distance, makes it more strategic and involved.. :D

I’m a bit biased because I love the Gameboy Color, but honestly Mario Golf GBC is one of the best in my opinion. It is old and simplistic, but it is so satisfying to play such a good game on retro hardware. I come back to it every year or so and replay the whole thing, and every time is awesome. The GBA one is pretty good but I honestly just hate the graphics on the GBA. Idk why, just basically all characters in every GBA RPG look so cringe to me.

I feel like you put 64 a bit too high on the list due to nostalgia and advance tour should really be higher especially since you said you WOULD play advance tour again, but not 64 unless it was with friends. Other than that I do totally agree with the list. Funnily enough my first golf game was NES Open as a kid and I was obsessed with it. It wasn't until I hit my late teens that I started to collect and play the rest of the series outside of occasionally playing 64 at a friends house along with Mario Tennis. As much as I am enjoying Super Rush, the reliance on the new speed golf and (ugh) battle golf is pretty annoying. I miss mini-golf and I also miss the 3-button system. More proof that Toadstool Tour is the best game in the series since it gives you the choice between 2 button auto and 3 button manual control, as does Advance Tour and I think World Tour did this as well.

It's too bad one of the best golf games ever made came form handheld devices. Between Mario Golf for the GBC/GBA and Hot Shots Golf Open Tee 1 and 2 for the PSP, the only console golf game that hit a sense of realism with a good career mode while still holding that arcade enjoyment was a relatively unknown title on PS2 called Swing Away Golf. Fantastic game if you can handle the load times and mediocre voice acting. I really can't see Super Rush as a enjoyable experience... It's probably due to the significantly reduced skill cap to even play it. It's way too easy, so I couldn't really bother with online play because there's no skill involved. Every shot is auto swing from Toadstool tour, that's a problem. The game is incredibly basic, no unique shot types, no unique reasons to play certain characters outside of drive distance. The special shots don't count for being unique as there is only 1 good type of shot and that's the high arch shot that blasts away other golfers. The courses are somewhat cool but being they are a nest of holes, you can cheat your way through a ton of them by aiming for different fairways or greens or tee boxes. I booted it up at the start of each month to unlock the costumes but all that required was me to play for about an hour and then do anything else for the month.
If I had to put a list together.
    1. Toadstool Tour
    2. GBC Mario Golf
    3. GBA Mario Golf
    4. Mario Golf 64
    5. Mario Golf World Tour
    6. Nes Open
    7. Mario Golf Super Rush (it's too easy, there's no skill involved in this game, all characters hit straight, drive distance is all that matters, and all shots are auto shots)
