    In the context of Master Duel, I have to disagree.
    Most decks that don't naturally play under Maxx C should be playing 3 ash, because Maxx C resolving is absolutely game-winningly strong.
    That 9% may not look like much, but it's 9% of games that you don't automatically instantly lose, so it's absolutely worth it.

    • @JoshuaMartinez-ml5hl
      @JoshuaMartinez-ml5hl 3 месяца назад +2

      Was thinking the exact same thing, Ashe is too valuable in master duel to defend against maxx c.
      9%, in my experience, is too low. I'd say about 50% of the games my opponent uses maxx c, I have an ashe to blossom.
      Maybe 10-20% for called by the grave, it is unfortunate how defensive I use Ashe now tho, as I definitely use called by the grave to counter graveyard effects 99% of the time, Ashe has been my premier counter to maxx c

    • @KaoruMzk

      remember 9% is the amount of the time they draw maxx c AND u draw ash. 66% of the time they dont have it. also it should be 11% because if you have multiple ash you still negate roach. so that means ash alone negates maxx c 33% of the time they draw it

    Rarely do you lose to Hiita lines themselves though. Something that people fail to think about is how many handtraps you see? Obviously Hiita lines are usually the most effiecient way to OTK through 1 Ash and nothing else, but they need an extender against a well placed Ash to go into that in the first place and chances are, there's a less effective line you lose to even without Hitta (if you use 1 Veiler instead). The problem is not that Snake Eye plays through Ash, it's that it plays through 1 handtrap no matter what it is, sometimes even 2. Sure, 2 Veiler might harm them more than 1 Ash 1 Veiler, but if they can play, chances are, you lose anyway. Ash is a great card, but what people should think against Snake Eye is if they want to commit to a large enough amount of handtraps to see multiples, not the individual cards themselves. The discrepancy in effectiveness against Snake Eye, if there is any, is surely way less than the discrepancy against any other deck.
    When it comes to MD is particular, if you can play into Maxx C and end on any reasonable board you might think about it. If not, I think i would take 10% chance to not get turnskipped, because that's what happens when Maxx C resolves against most decks.

      Ghost mourners effect does not "inflict" the burn damage, but sets a "condition" on the special summoned card that they will "take" damage equal to its attack if it leaves the field.

    In the TCG i could understand either putting Ash in the side deck or foregoing the card entirely, but in Master Duel especially where ranked is a best of 1 ladder and you're having to deal with Maxx "C", there's really no reason not to play the card in a lot of situations. Although ideally, it'd just be preferable if Konami banned Maxx "C" from MD. We're getting a more balanced retrain anyhow with Multichummy, i could see it happen in both MD and the OCG.
    I do agree though that with more of the PHNY/LEDE decks coming into Master Duel, Ogre (along with Belle and Mourner if you think it'll get through Crossout and you have room for it) should be considered more when building decks. Ogre especially is stupidly good in the TCG right now. Using Ogre on IP or SP sounds incredibly situational though. Ideally you want to try to hit whatever gets your opponent to end on a half-built board whenever you're playing hand traps in your deck. The deck you're playing should be able to do the rest if you've built a good deck.
    Ultimately the takeaway should be that the game's heading into a handtrap heavy format and that you should be playing other cards in addition to Ash (unless you're really that worried about Hiita, although i personally find it kinda silly). Players will need to start re-evaluating the decks in the meta and prepare their own solutions for it. While Hiita can use your own Ash against you, ideally your deck should be able to power through whatever board they build using Hiita if they're going first. If they're going second, you need to make sure your deck has enough tools necessary to road block them and make them end on a half board. Even if they manage to take out some of your cards, you should be able to recover and maintain your lead. If the deck you're piloting can't do that, its probably not smart to run it this format unless you're just gonna play the decks you like.
    I personally don't play a lot of MD, but in the TCG, i've been experimenting with Gold Pride PUNK lately on YGO Omega.

    Fire King is a very bad example. Island will be put into the field the VAST majority of the time by Sanctuary's effect searched by Ponix. While Sanctuary is up not only will Island not be destroyed, in many cases they plus off destroying another monster in their hand. And since Sanctuary puts Island into play when played it cannot be hit itself, leaving only the XYZ effect which is like their last interaction after they went through like 6-7 others and just nuke the board, not quite what you should be worried about. Ash does more by stoping either Ponix or the Island pop and search effects, as denying Garunix access gives them way less interruptions.

  • @neotemporal
    @neotemporal 2 месяца назад

    ash is definitely worth playing if your deck cares about maxx c. it will negate maxx c 11% of the time since you should be drawing 33% for each. that is 1/9 games. your called by + crossout will negate it likewise 1/9 games. theres a couple percent chance you draw both ash and called by, but it is a small chance of that happening and ur opponent has maxx c. so the opponent only draws maxx c about 1/3 of the time, or 3/9 games. you would negate maxx c almost 2/3 of the time they draw it, and your opponent would only resolve maxx c a little more than 1/9 games, or 11% of the time. this is why you should always play ash and called by and crossout.

  • @KaoruMzk
    @KaoruMzk 3 месяца назад +1

    Terrible advice, you still want to run Ash alongside Ogre. The idea is for Ogre to clear the field so your Ash can go through, not replace Ash with Ogre.
    Also, Ash is *mandatory* in MD to counter Maxx C. No ifs or buts about.

    • @JessePerezStrategyGaming
      @JessePerezStrategyGaming  3 месяца назад

      Ash has been low impact of lately. There is no real chokepoints vs meta decks like their was when Lab/Branded were dominating.
      Snake-eyes and Tenpai can easily push through 1,2 and with good hands even 3 disruptions.
      I don't disagree with the maxx c statement either i had a whole section on that. I leave it up to the viewer but give them the math is 9-10% chance your ash will stop a maxx c every match.

    In my opinion Ash should not be removed from decks because it has an insane amount of flexibility. In the current (TCG-)Format you got to have a combination of 2 different handtraps to be able to play. Having good flexibility in your handtrap line-up is important so you can adapt your handtrap spots according to which line the opponent plays.

      Why aren't you maining Ash as a good Tuner? Synchrons die to all hand traps, so be like Yusei with his Clear Mind and run all the hand trap Tuners with a playset of Crossout Designator now that it's been reprinted. 😎

      What did you think about the 10% math section is it still worth it in your eyes?

      What's your take on the ash blossom 🌸 math at the end. Ash is only going to save you against maxx c roughly 10% of the time? I'm curious

      @@JessePerezStrategyGaming ah yes i didn't actually finish your vid when i commented but nonetheless i think whenever they activate maxx c i would feel bad cause there is a chance i could've drawn ash to stop it even at 1% but that's just me 😅
