So glad i found your channel! My s/o and I are planning to move to Richmond in 2ish years and watching these videos are making me more confident in this decision!
Glad you found us too! Richmond and the surrounding areas have a lot to offer, we love it here! The only thing missing for us is a beach, but if we had that house prices would be a lot higher!
I agree with Taylor- Wild Ginger is the best sushi in RVA. After living in Los Angeles, that’s saying something! The other thing that’s great about the EAT restaurant group is their focus on giving back to the community. Wild Ginger does this by creating a specialty roll centered on a specific charity. When you order this roll, some (maybe all?) of the proceeds go to the charity it is inspired by.
Will do! We are thinking about doing a steakhouse one now that Perry's in Short Pump opened up. We are also toying around with a "date night's under $x.xx" but can't decide what that $$$ threshold should be...everything is expensive now.
What a fun video!! Thanks for sharing! And congratulations on the baby on the way!! Our daughter just turned 1 and we can't wait to add one more to the family (after we relocate 😊)!
Not sure if this was one you went to or had a bad experience at but Yaya's Cookbook in Short Pump has some pretty good specialty rolls as well. Right in line though with Red Salt and Wild Ginger being great, I will always choose Red Salt whenever anyone mentions it, even if it is a little overpriced. I've never had anything bad there.
One of our friends had suggested we add YaYa's cookbook to the video, but when they described it to us it sounded like Sushi was kind of an afterthought on their menu. I have since heard a few others speak really highly of Yaya's and looking at their menu it sounds great. Whenever my desire for sushi returns to me, I will definitely give Yaya's a try! Thanks for watching and leaving the comment!
NICE! There where hardly any top 5 sushi spots videos in our town! So glad you made this one! Fighting fish seemed to be the top pick from another reviewer, have you've ever been there?
I noticed they had good reviews too. We haven't been there yet, but we know lots of people who have said great things about Lucky AF. Since we included Lucky AF we figured that was good for the Scott's Addition area. It will probably be a while before I am hungry for sushi again but if we go to Fighting Fish I will let everyone in the comments know what we think.
Was this sponsored by EAT Group? Trash food at a top price. Not sure how you did a sushi tour through Richmond without hitting up Momotaro or Sumo San. Two of your picks weren't even in Richmond...
As mentioned in the video, I have zero affiliation with the EAT Group but I understand why you asked. I am always hesitant to make these videos where we review food/beer etc because it really does come down to personal preference and taste buds, and everyone's a critic. I haven't been to Sumo San but it was recommended to us by some friends to include it, but after hitting up 7 sushi restaurants I just didn't have the stomach for any more. I tried to use google/yelp reviews to help us decide which restaurants we hadn't been to before to include. One of them had over 400 reviews with a 4.8 rating and it was awful. I LOVE the restaurants we went to, and I feel confident that if someone goes to any of the 5 they will get great sushi which is the point of this video. Thanks for watching, sorry you disagree.
