Love this place and I LOVE that you were able to have an impromptu interview with the owner/founder! We've eaten at that downtown Buttermilk & Honey location and it blows away the other location farther out West (in Richmond). It's adorable -- so glad the owner kept the original/vintage architectural details instead of making it look like a typical restaurant. *All* of the food is good, but the fried green tomatoes are the best we've had anywhere. Only two downsides w/ the downtown location is 1) the layout make it awkward to get to/from the front to pick up your food if the place is busy and your table is in the back, and 2) the acoustics can get dicey making it not a place to have a conversation. But still worth it! Looking forward to trying his other restaurants. Thank you for this very thorough and honest review!
That place used to be called Pops on Grace and the food was amazing. It was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives. I was sad when they closed. Now I'm so happy that it's a new Black-owned restaurant with great food! Glad to see you in Richmond. Come on back.
And is a reviewer because he’s NOT an actual chef by trade he’s a self proclaimed chef it’s a difference. I KNOW NOW after watching and seeing him actually cook
Have you been to Milk and Honey in Colonial Heights Petersburg, VA ? Thier really good. If not, try them out next time you're here. Their catfish and Grits are the bonb, and their chicken and sweet potato waffles are really good as well . But please try them next time.
