- Mental and psychological disabilities are among the conditions that can qualify for benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA). You may qualify with severe depression, bipolar disorder, an anxiety disorder, or another mental illness that prevents you from maintaining gainful employment. The SSA conducts a detailed review of your medical records to determine your eligibility for benefits. During this review, they try to match your records to a disability listing in the “Blue Book.” The Blue Book is the SSA’s medical guide that is used to evaluate every disability application. Disability listings outline the severity level requirements and the specific medical evidence needed to support a claim for benefits.

Right now waiting to be approved for free health insurance so that I can be seen with a psychiatrist and be actually diagnosed with my mental issues so I can get ssi. I have really bad anxiety and depression. I also believe I may have adhd based on what others have told me. With the mental health issues i have, it makes it very very difficult for me to work. The last job I had, I cried every single day. People are ruthless and it took a toll on my mental health.
It's been a year I hope you get your SSD approved by now
I applied 6 months ago and I gave all the required paper my MED9
diagnosis for Severe Depression and PTSD and proof W2 that I worked for 18 years and I paid my taxes
And unfortunately still no answer
Good thing I have a car to sleep in
I tried getting a full time job but with being having Depression and the side effects of the medication I got fired the first job I was actually got fired and in Colorado there's a law that an employer can fire you for any reason and he just saw me as a liability and to be honest I do understand him If I'm in his position I will fire me too but I can't just not do something so I do whatever I can and I never imagined panhandling is hard and I don't like doing it
So sometimes we do things we never want to do but we have no choice
People do take advantage when they see your suffering man what happened to humanity
People are ruthless and some of them looks very clean and the seem very kind but they're not human at all
I have multiple issues I applied about 4-5 Months ago. Just recently had a video conference with a Male. Hopefully I get accepted soon. Thank You for all your help with this wonderful Information. Everyone one reading this I wish you good luck

My name is nancy I have bpd and a panic disorder I cant keep a job do to what I have I applied August 2020 and got denied they said I didnt had enough hours worked so idk what else to do I'm asking for benefits cause I cant work I get 4 to 5 panic attacks in a day that prevent me from doing what will be consider to be daily house routine how can I work to get those hours ssi asked from me when I cant🙄

I have no money, no job ,no insurance for treatment or diagnosis. I do know that in the past 3 years i had 3 jobs in which i cried in public more tham 12 times because my anxiety had triggered a fear reaponse, couldnt deal with the preassure at work, or even a roach triggered anxiety attacks.even today i cried in a store because a women talked to from behind. The only money i got is because i donated plasma. I just dont know what to do.

I cry at work also. Work in a shop as a senior master tech for Ford. My job has came to a point where i mentally cant do it anymore. Like if im working on someones car that cant afford it i give it away. All commision based pay no hourly wage. My emotions are so out there that they dont even have to be my own.
I cant afford a physician or help to get the "paper work".. wtf, this country is so fucked. Adding more homeless people just adds more to someone elses pocket that isnt homeless.
Trust me even with help SSD will take forever I filled my application 6 months ago and got a case manager and a therapist but still nothing
Honestly sometimes I really want assisted euthanasia to be legal for people with depression. I feel like their slowly killing us anyway.
Why prolonged our suffering they can just put us down easy

I didn't choose this I was doing well before this happened
And I'm tired of the judgements people give to you
They called me lazy an addict which I'm not. My body took a toll too I lost so much weight
And I'm not even trying to be honest I was bulky with muscle and strong I was lifting 100 pounds at the warehouse and I do it for hours sometimes 12 hours a day now I'm struggling

I'm sorry you've been disapproved. Really seems the US in general just doesn't want us here. Let alone there own people regardless life is fucked and it would help to have help ya know. I've been denied for 4 years . I am now at an appeal process to overturn the ALJ decision. PTSD, SEVERE DEPRESSIVE DISORDER, GENERALIZED ANXIETY/ PANIC OCD. BIPOLAR 2. ADJUSTMENT DISORDER. Clinically diagnosed 2016. After 3 psychiatric inpatient admits. Multiple meds, therapists, psychiatrist consistently for 6 years, still getting denied.
Our leaders are a bunch of greedy assholes is why you can't get help.
I don't understand why they wouldn't give you disability for that.
This make me think why are we paying taxes for years ( 18 years paying tax) when the moment you need it they'll give a hard time and make you feel you owe them . I guess we the tax payer are not important. They rather spend our money giving it to illegal and spending it on wars that we don't have nothing to do. Billions for illegal and other countries. While we people who paid and contributed for this country we get nothing

I was denied today. Just apealed now. I'm %100 permanent and total disabled for ptsd mental health with the va military service..medically retired as well with my gs job for ptsd major depression disorder wife is care giver at home...been in treatment for years and present treatment too...on meds homebound don't like leaving my house have panic attacks anger issues severe anxienty..been to a mental health hostipal for 30 days because I had suicidal attempts all the evidence in the world records letters and a lot more and denied. What a corrupted system and sad. I appealed today after being denied today. What a disrespect this process it truly is. Even have a statement from my phycoligist stating that it's his opinion that I cannot participate in any substantial gainful employment that would put people in danger and myself in danger and even a layout of my severe systems. Still denied. Unreal

@@kmv9552 I too am 100% P&T w/SMC S-1. I was medically retired due to Schizoaffective disorder, Bipolar type. I just got denied in the Recon. My attorney automatically appealed toward hearing. I am a bit upset because of how long this crap will be drug out for and a possibility of a 3rd denial. Though I am in not shape to work, if denied a 3rd time I spoke to VSO who informed me that I am capable of working without any restrictions. The advice was wait for SSA and if no dice then see about a job hiring personnel with schedule A disabilities. So, now I have to wait for another year or so before I know for certain if I am gonna be denied in full. *SSA said though I have level of impairment with my disability, I can still work or adjust to different work settings* Such bull.

@@kmv9552 I completely agree. The Social Security Administration is very corrupt. I hired a lawyer in stage 1 for recon and now I am having to wait to due to the attorney filing for hearing. Honestly, I do not want to wait a year or longer just to get a denial. My time in court will probably be like 20 minutes long and the judge will render a decision agreeing with the DDS. I for a fact know I am disabled. I even have a disabled license plate; however, the SSA sees that I have a disabilities, but in the end simply states I can adjust to different work. Such bull crap.
I Had my Hearing waiting on a Decision and it's driving my GENERAL ANXIETY DISORDER THROUGH THE ROOF PLEASE PRAY I GET APPROVED I'M HOMELESS. I also have Depression and Adhd.

I initially applied for SSDI and SSI in 2009 went through to the court got denied all the way through had to reapply got the same result had to reapply a third time had the same result I'm in the beginning stages of the 4th time going through and the conditions I have on the application on each time I had to put my application in was osteoarthritis and gouat in both knees osteoarthritis in my spine each disc is worn out each facet joint is worn out several discs are bulging pushing on the spinal cord the vertebrae are growing bone spurs which all that causes severe muscle and nerve pain and muscle spasms in my back high blood pressure and severe ADHD that causes me to have a 5th grade reading level and a 6th written level and the ADHD is severe enough to where it causes clinical depression and clinical anxiety disorders and I also have severe sleep apnea and 9 oral prescriptions a topical medication and a cpap machine for my conditions and yet social security still is trying to say basically that I'm able to work even with all the medical records showing these issues as well as many doctors putting in my medical records I'm disabled
Honestly if people wants abortion to be legal
They should legalized assisted euthanasia for people with depression . Were slowly dying anyway with the stressed they put on us why prolonged the suffering. Just give us the shots and put us down.
Im trying to get better and be independent again but unable to keep a job and being seen as a liability its hard i never get fired before and this first time being fired because you're brain function suddenly got limitations and the side effects from the medication is crazy.
I don't want to sleep in my car freezing cold and its hard to ask for help especially when you are independent all your life its sucks . And people are ruthless the judgment its crazy i feel so little especially when they call you lazy and don't know what are you facing

Judging by the comments the chances of being accepted is next to zero. Your mental condition would had to have nearly killed you, and still that may not be enough….
I've been diagnosed with bi-bolar and still can't get any help.
I have bipolar, ocpd, and cptsd(and unrelated but I've recently been diagnosed with pcos). I've been on disability since I was 20, I'm 22 atm. It sucks tbh I want to be able to work, but I'm just not able to. The way that people treat you is awful. I just want to be normal 😪. I'm slowly getting better I think, but my therapists say it'll be another 2 years at least until I'm able to work again 🙁. I know I am privileged to have disability but at the same time not because I am disabled. It's just so frustrating.
Can I ask if you have to be on any medication while being on disability?
@@ritaevergreen7234 a lot yes. I've been talking to one of my therapists about this feeling and Journaling and I'm doing a bit better coping with not being able to work especially since I do everything in the home. I know some people do just the house stuff and I don't think bad of them it's just getting in my head. Eventually I'll be able to work even if it's just part time I just have to be patient and understand that not having a job doesn't make me any less of an adult or any less worthy of respect.

And it's hard especially for 18 years you supported yourself help when you can did everything by yourself and you actually know your worth and for a man that's a big deal

and your taking medication that the side effects makes you weak i never been so tired

Hello, I'm in Kansas. I went through many types of childhood abuse and never got treatment for my mental illnesses. I went to a couple therapists as an adult but couldn't afford to go long, I had to quit several jobs after 3 months of working because my mental health got so bad. Finally, I went to a psych ward when I contemplated suicide. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, PTSD, general anxiety, social anxiety, and insomnia. I'm wondering if I can get on disability for these

It's hard to survive so I do whatever I can to earn money but it's not enough and people do take advantage they don't care if you are disabled and suffering
For what I learn the amount of SSD you get depends on how long you work and you also qualify for housing but that takes a long time
This guy told me he waited 7 years before he got housing so I pray that I'll get better

I have bi polar type 2 and my residency is in Colorado (I know it's all different for all states). I also have Medicaid, My question is. 1: What do I do if I don't have a psychiatrist or family physician and don't have medications for my disorder or really any records on paper?

I go to Well Power you can get help there and a Psychiatrist

MHMR says they need blood tests twice a year so will that check if I’m taking the meds cause I’m detoxing & I don’t want them to find out
Gloria Delarosa my kid is taking meds and they did a urine and saliva test at his psychiatrist appointment. I was shocked. Said they needed to check the meds concentration and to see if he was taking them. What are you on?
@@SONAAwareness Trazadone olanzipine fluxatine which they changed to newer ones but trashed them cuz I’m on an organic diet but don’t know if i need to expect them to test my blood to check if I’m taking my meds or did your son give them a reason to check
@@gloriadelarosa6422 my son and I both are bipolar amongst other things. They check out urine randomly and take blood tests randomly. They check his prolactin because the Risperdol sometimes makes males develop breast. They took him off of it due to his levels being too high. He’s been on antipsychotics and anti seizure medications since he was 5. I’ve been doing the med dance for over 20 years.

Oh my god this is insane because I’ve recently about three months ago started experiencing full-blown panic attacks while driving on the freeway. I start sweating and palpitations. It just started appearing. I think I know the reason why this started happening, but I’ve had anxiety for most part of my life.

If you have insurance if not applied for medicaid (it's always approved faster especially if you're unemployed) not like SSD you need to wait because there's an investigation to proof your not lying
Medicaid it only took 3 days for me to be approved.

you have to have severe untreatable depression. my mom got ssi for this but she went thru hell to get the documentation. years of psych treatment including electric shock therapy. prison time, and multiple inpatients. she cannot care for herself or even her children and has a long list of evidence to prove this. thats how she got approved her first time around for depression only
