- Are you trying to decide which supercharger to put on your Mustang?
In this video, we invited David, AKA ThatDudeInBlue and his 2013 Mustang GT, AKA Smurrf to the VMP ranch.
Already equipped with a Procharger, we did a baseline pull with Smurrf to get a horsepower number with the centrifugal supercharger.
Next, we installed our VMP Gen2R 2.3 L TVS.
Finally, we equipped Smurrf with a VMP Gen3 2.65 L TVS to see just how much horsepower the 2013 GT had in it.

Classy. 👍
Exactly! NOTHING turns me off a product more than their slagging the opposition - they can point out weaknesses, fair enough, but many just go overboard!

The MVP here is the MT82 and clutch... Taking 700hp like a champ
VMP makes a excellent product. So does Procharger. My F1A makes 1100hp+ at only 12psi while spinning the Procharger to only 2/3 of it's capability. To be fair comparing a gen 2 or gen 3 VMP to a P1SC isn't a fair comparison.
U said it better than I...

3.5" pulley on my P1X Procharger Coyote. 760whp.
Is that all you have done to the car?
Good power what is your torque 500? Nobody ever mentions torque when they're procharged lol.
You were talking apple to apple comparison?!
8psi procharger vs 12 psi for gen3..
Now do it with a 12 psi procharger: quite curious to see the outcome!
They're running the biggest pulley they have dude the gen 3 is just a bigger more efficient blower which is why it sees 12 psi. It wasn't like a vmp vs procharger video they were just comparing the setups to see the difference the gen2r was running around the same boost they had similar peak and way more torque which was the point in that comparison. The gen 3 is just the blower he went with they wasn't comparing it to the procharger the gen2r was a more equal comparison to the procharger. It was just showcasing the differences between the powerbands and stuff.
Clean install. Great factory appearance look. Definitely would like to have one of those on my 2013 Deep impact blue GT.

Heat... with the procharger one can still do a road course and keep it much cooler. and its everyday driver
The tvs doesn't make that much heat when you have a proper cooling system. The vmp blowers are very efficient they aren't these heat soaking things people try to act like they are. Tvs are awesome for street cars daily or otherwise. It just depends on how you want your power curve and which look and sound you like best.
That's cute now install the f1a procharger on it and compare
even a P1x out performs that gen 3. i know switched mine out, lower intake heat and more useable power through out the band. threw my gen 3 in the scrap bin. will never buy an other over priced pos from them again.
Theodore can you tell me more I'm about to buy a super charger
@@sbkickz504 with a Pro-charger you move heat away from the engine. a super charger like style of the vmp runs a heat exchanger built into the intake manifold where heat rises from the engine. you never see guys running these blowers in a race application just do to the fact that they aren't as efficient. they run hotter due to heat soak from the engine and they arent built like a procharger. look at the R&D for both companies and the time they have been around. Procharger has teams in all categories. you dont have a heat exchanger sitting on top of the engine. you have an intake that flows better and also disapates heat better. you can run a air to water intercooler or an air to air. i run an air to water on my daily driven/ strip 2016 mustang. and when i switched to a Procharger P1DX i gained power through out and lowered my air inlet temps by 24 degrees after the car got heat into it. there is a long list of pros and cons to both options. but major racing guys in mustangs either run a procharger or turbos for a reason and not a screw type offer like vmp for many reasons.

Seeing David running the VMP was awesome, Im waiting for the 2018 GT Gen3 kit. Im in California, may need to ship the car out to you guys tho...coming in the next few months right? Im ready when you guys are.
so was this a Procharger P1 SC ? ok so now campare these roots style superchargers against the F1 series Prochargers just for fun
Lopez Bunch right lol. Can’t compare a small centi blower to a pretty decent sized roots.
That is the blower David was running they were comparing what he was running to what he installed now. Just to show difference in power band and stuff nobody is dissing procharger everyone knows you will make plenty of power and be fast with a procharger its the powerband that is drastically different some just like the instant torque and power of tbe vmp blowers thats why he switched it up they just did a little comparison showing what they done and what this blower he had does against the blowers theyre showing of theirs. Its not a perfect test i dont think it was meant to be just documenting what happened.
Oh man..seriously thinking of a GEN3 2.65 kit as a replacement for my stock GT500.....very impressive for a stock high mileage coyote...700+ hp..just wow!
step up to a big procharger and see 800/900 wheel.
Would of like to see a cooled down Procharger compared to hot or 3 / 4 pulls with the vmp so we could see how quick it gets hot and how much power it loses from heat because he drove a long time boosted around then showed up dynoed and still put crazy numbers down let’s see the vmp do that and this is a base Procharger they also make bigger units
Hey Picazo, that's a good idea, we can do it next time. We stated in the video the Procharger was down some because David had seen 630rwhp at one point on another dyno. We also stated it wasn't taking much timing.
It made less because of heat soak they would make similar peak numbers at the same boost in the same conditions. The vmp isnt gonna lose nearly as much power as youre making it seem like it would not if you have the proper dual fan heat exchanger. Yes it will heat soak a little more than a procharger maybe but the difference is negligible. Serious racers go w procharger and stuff because every .001 of a second matters to serious racers...doesnt mean its gonna blow vmp out the water in the real world. Theyre gonna be similar peak power wise at the same boost but the vmp has way more torque. Different strokes for different folks. Nobody is dissing procharger they certainly have their place its all in what you want. 700 wheel is plenty enough to go very fast in this car
really wish VMP made some products for the 4.6

Stomp at 40 in second gear should get you sideways with those instant TQ numbers, especially w/o dragradials.Maybe clutch slipping.I,d think you would need a McLeod upgrade with that weight and that much additional power.
How about you tell us what type of procharger you have? P1SC or D1SC?
Why go to the 88mm pulley on the gen 3 that’s not a fair comparison ?92mm would be closer in boost!
DIB had to get his car done so he could do some reviews, so we didn't want to delay him from doing his thing.
an overlay off the 3 graf would have been nice, other then that ,the video is nicely setup,

4” pulley on my D1X 408 stroker and 887rwhp, 792 torque. It all depends on what Procharger you use.
408 stroker vs a 302(modular ) I mean of course you made good power
The p1sc is the smallest procharger. Mine makes 753whp at 9 psi... I've seen loys of whipple guys run into the knock sensor issue with how loud they are. Granted tvs is quieter, I have one in my raptor. As long as you are happier that's all that matters in the end.

Not a fair comparison first the Procharger on his car is the entry level p1sc and you put it against a gen 3 vmp? Try doing it with my car it has a D1X Procharger making 14psi and made 809whp and 590tq SAE smoothing on 100 octane.
Prochargedbeast48 and he drove the Procharger forever then dyno it got right as he showed up the vmp was cool a vmp with the same trip would be super hot and lose power that’s the problem with the vmp heat
Those are great numbers on your coyote! I bet its a blast on the street. I wonder what David's car would make with race gas??
On pump 93 my car makes 767 at the same boost level on a conservative tune but what I was saying the comparison wasn’t really good between a p1sc blower that is old compared to the gen 3 vmp.
This is with a stock gen 2 coyote eventually I will build the block to really see what this D1X can do the vmp gen 3 is no joke I’m not knocking it makes great tq down low.
I concur, should've compared VMP Gen 3 to a D-1X Procharger to be fair. And because the power band of centrifugal superchargers are linear, it allows you to put the power down more effectively compared to a positive displacement blower that make instant torque, causing traction issues off the line. D-1X Procharger also doesn't generate as much heat as positive displacement blower (heat soak), and doesn't have as much as parasitic HP/TQ loss as a positive displacement blower.
Please tell me you put OPG's in that high mileage coyote before you did this...
Mustang Man what’s an opg? Sorry for the newb question

That was a gen 3 not a gen3R. There a little different!
now run a real pro charger and make some big power.....anybody making a lot of power ditch the twin screw for a pro charger or turbo setup.....I get it though it’s free so why not.....
Biggest problem - that I see... with Pro Chargers (Paxton and other which are belt driven) and almost the same with turbo chargers.... Is belt-drives and blowing off connections to the intake.
Due to the belt/accessory drives of centrifugal superchargers...they really want to start tosing belts at higher rpm.... put a lot of pressure on the crank snout/keyways. Then, there is the stacking, of boost - at higher rpm- pushes back on the connection,, to the point of forcing the hoses off the intake.
Something has to give...or else - you need a full on mechanical (nut and bolt) pipe connector, instead of the rubber/neoprene hose connections most people try to use or make-do with , most of the time. The turbo guys, factory set-ups, use cast r fabricated metal manifolds, which ups the difficulty of fabrication....when its a small guy/tuner trying to fit a 'reliable' setup to a one-off custom setup..
@@JustinAEgan 100% correct. Running around with guys who had Prochargers or Vortechs who actually drove their cars. Belts were tossing right and left. Alot more than one would expect. Throw a blower on top and alignment I guess is easier on the belt.

So you made 700 hp on a VIP supercharger and 12 pounds of boost my question is if you gave the Pro Charger a smaller pulley and allowed to build 12 pounds of boost how much horsepower would it make OK the torque won’t be as much but it should be close and the VM pizza great supercharger but still you have the supercharger sitting on top of the motor which will create excessive amount of heat And heat soak kills horsepower
They're very efficient blowers with proper cooling system they do fine. At 12 psi it's barely even working it isn't gonna heat soak much.
It's the biggest pulley they make for the tvs it did 12 psi because it is larger and more efficient.
Decrease pulley size on the procharger would have achieved the highest outcome 750ish hp around 502 ft tq

You mentioned that not all pump gas (93) is created equal. Is there one you would recommend as better?
What's the difference between Loki, Odin, and Gen3R? Is the TVS3100 still happening, or was that rotor pack abandoned?
Good morning! Loki and Odin are two kit configurations of the same Odin supercharger for different horsepower goals. Loki being the simpler of the two kits for lower goals and Odin being the kit configured for folks who plan on turning the car up once it's supercharged.
Gen3R is a rear feed blow-down supercharger similar to the factory superchargers utilized on GT500s and Cobras that we offer as a upgrade for those vehicles, as well as a Roush upgrade, and standalone kit for '11-'17 Coyote platforms.

@@brandonknight7240 high miles and stock opg can cause some concern.
The pulley on the pro charger was 111 mm so this can't be a true comparison.
Looking at the chart @ 12:18 , wouldn't swapping a smaller pulley on the gen2(72mm or 79mm) create more boost and create the HP numbers of the gen3 with (88mm/12psi) combo?
Sort of but it would be a vicious cycle... 79mm isn't worth much, only 1psi, go too small and you need more octane. A 72mm would make 14-15psi and require higher octane to make the same power as a gen3. The more efficient blower still wins.
I have an ls1 camaro and wanted to go procharger, would a blower really be that much more powerful?
Procharger is a blower just a centrifugal blower. Imo yes the tvs is better but the vmp stuff is very good some other cars don't have tvs superchargers this awesome for theor platform. Procbarger can make good power but by nature the torque will be much less as boost builds with rpm...just the nature of the beast.
