I love everything about my new iMac
the frame rate on your A-roll shots when you're talking to the camera really bothers me. it takes me away from your smooth b-roll shots, hope you can do something about it!

Thanks - I found that helpful. I currently have a mid-2017 iMac and a 24" Dell 4k monitor as well. I'm looking to replace the iMac but have been wondering whether to stick with a new M1 iMac; or a Mac Mini; or even a laptop - a new 14" MBP is very tempting! But your comments about the quality of the display have persuaded me that another iMac will be the way to go. Thanks for the advice re. 16 Gb memory - I've heard different opinions on that. I do photo-processing (LightRoom Classic) and some simple video editing (iMovie).

First of all let me say this was a good video. Not just good, perhaps the best Apple related video in a long time. Someone who actually mentions negatives/potential problems with the machine in a reasonable way? I am so sick of fanboys when talking about reviews (or similar videos).
Anyway, I don't have the system and as I am poor I won't get one. When it was announced, at least as far as looks go, I found it great. I don't see any "chin" problem and I love, no LOVE the color options. I am so SICK of the usual silver, white, gold and of course the 800 pound gorilla in PC land, black colors for everything.
Give me COLORS!
I would perhaps prefer if the front of the new iMacs were as intense as the rear side, but I assume it was done so that there were not too bright for the eyes. Assume as in I am guessing as I didn't design this.

Completely agree. I was surprised about the amount of controversy there was surrounding this new design. I find it to be very friendly and approachable compared to typical PC designs. The richer, deeper colors on the back look very good in person as well. I, too, wish that Apple made them available on the front. My best guess is that maybe there was too much contrast with the white bezels, and that could possibly distract from the content on screen. I'm not sure, either way, I would have liked the option.
Nice to know there are others like Trusteft who agree about the great cool bright bold colors. After a year or so of living through a dreary pandemic, we need color in our lives now...Apple sensed this and brought out these beautiful, cleverly designed, functional units...

This was an excellent 3-month review of your new colorful 24-inch iMac. Glad to see you mentioned other members of your family and their needs as well. However, your title statement is a little miss-leading. It should read more like "the limits of the base model iMac verses its higher price alternatives". For your family, I would have gotten the model with 4-ports, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 SSD. These models are now on Apple's refurbished web site at a nice discounted price (smile...smile).
I went with the M1 Air instead for portability, but this one looks really good. Great video

Thanks for the suggestion! Was it the talking head (A-Roll) parts of the video that were not looking smooth? Definitely want to make sure I resolve it in future videos.
Mac mini = $600 , iMac 24 = $1499 then $1499 - $600 - $50 better speaker - $60 1080P webcam - $50 better cooling - $120 keyboard - $60 mouse = $569. so 24 inches screen cost $569 that means overpriced. iMac 24 should sell at least $200 cheaper.
by the way, huge white bezels and chin are ugly. I want ultra thin black bezels without chin.

Hello, thank you for this great video. As it has only one fan could you tell me alittle more on the heating issue? I dont care abt the touch thing, or the two extra ports and u can get ethernet on the base model too. However i am planning doing some photoshop and indesign. Maybe let’s say 2 hours per day. Do you think this will considerably affect the heating and the performance ? Thank you
I've been searching for a USB-C hub or dock (except I don't want all the other ports like HDMI etc) to have more USB-A & USB-C ports but can't find anything that matches the aesthetics of the new imac's. anything on your radar? :D
It’s a great machine, but it’s a real shame that, unlike older iMacs, you cannot use it in terminal mode as a display for a Mac mini, for example. So it’s longevity is limited and you will not later be able to use it with a more powerful processor with more memory.
I’m ordering the iMac8core by next week but not sure if it’s worth upgrading to 16gbram using it for basic stuff serfing tge net watching videos youtube rarely video editing and Lightroomi know I can attach later on extra hat drive which I don’t need at the moment 256is more than enough now

I am looking to attach a external CD/DVD to read and write with. I know there are issues with comparability and the apple SuperDrive will not work and. Is not comparable.
Do you know of one that works and still available? I am still running the latest iOS big sur. .

I have just bought an iMac with m1 last week, 8 core GPU and 8GB Ram. It runs terribly bad in Lightroom and Photoshop. Lightroom alone makes it reach its 8gb ram limit, having the memory pressure on red alert almost constantly. It is not reliable at all and it takes around 10 seconds to skip between 2 edited RAW photos from my Sony a7c. After working on a photo with 5 adjustment layers in Photoshop, adding one more adjustment curve layer and making changes in the curve takes forever. Video editing isn't really my thing yet, so I have't tried it, but I doubt it would be anyway better. It is funny how none of these reviewers never touch on this subject... We do live in horribly egoistic times fuelled only by personal gain and misleading advices.
Hello, I would like to mention one thing that has been bothering me since I got an iMac 24. It is releasing an odor like a burning plastic or electrical. It is not too strong but I smell it and I started wearing a mask!! Have you experienced the odor?? Thanks!!
No, I have not. That doesn’t sound good, you should contact Apple about that.

I don't care about the bezel, its colors, weight or width! It's on my desk and that's where it'll stay. The real issue is IT DOESN’T HAVE PORTS for my laser printer, my ethernet connection, my 2.0 hubport or all my usb 2.0 flashdrives. I want to be able to easily transfer pages, music, photos, movies etc. and without any immediately utilizable ports, I can't do a damn thing. Who knew that I would be denied something so essential. What am I supposed to do?
I just want this exact iMac but with a 27 to 30 inch screen. 24 is a joke for a modern desktop.
Seems to me just buy an M1 mini and add a 32" display.
But then you miss out on the retina display.
