- John Mellencamp performs Check It Out at Farm Aid 2016 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, on September 17.
Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

This song has always been something I enjoyed since age 12, but the true spirit of it was lost on me until now at age 39. Probably my favorite JM song by a mile now.
I remember being at Farm Aid and watching him at the 1985 and 1987 shows. Total Rock and Roll dominance. Wild and long hair, everyone was young and rocking. It's a step back now, and a time to reflect on how we've all grown older, and watched the years pass by. But deep inside, we are all the same as back then.
Enjoy we don’t have much longer
trying to hold on to it
Still sounds great, but can't do the splits like before in the other video!
Kind of a bittersweet tune…”can’t tell your best buddy that you love him.”
“This is all we’ve learned about living.”
What a profound tune this is. Beautiful. Been in love with it for 33 years.
Was lucky to have a front row seat to see John live at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in 1988. Fantastic gig, one of my favourites.
I love John Mellencamp and always will! Thank you for your continued efforts to raise money and awareness for such a great cause! Much love! ❤❤❤❤❤
Just saw him with I think this exact band... Epic...Beyond great....Thank you John and your killer gang!!!
Saw them in 1988 and the whole show just rocked!
Thanks for your help to Family farmers
F*****G AWESOME I saw John Mellencamp When he went by the name of John Cougar way back in 1976 at Leicester university England and have loved his music ever since BRILLIANT
Awsome song,John is GREAT!!!! Love the lady playing the violin to,she is amazing!
I feel privileged to finally get to see John in concert. It was a great show!
Hopefully these Words will be heard and heeded..* hopefully these Words have been Heard.. Continually..
Wow, time holds the winning hand ....
Spectacular performance of an amazing song.
Mellencamp is like a great bottle of wine he gets better with age
He's great i would love to see this underrated kick ass man LIVE Memorex just cant capture the stage presence JOHN has
A class act and a legend with a great catalog. At this point my 2 favorite songs of his are this one and Jackie Brown.
Awesome tune in every aspect. I always thought that if an independent were going to win the White House, it would be him. I still believe that. God bless the midwest!
Timeless classic
awesome love this tune
All your chilli dogs have been paid. Cant tell your best buds that you love them.
Class act, dude is as good as it gets
I never saw john but I kno ppl that did in the 80s and they said back then he through a show....
i love you john and always will
didnt know he had those dance moves! his doing the splits was unreal
Lisa Germano looks so bad ass, she totally stole the show.
she has bad feet
Lisa Germano isn't in the band at this point.
It must great to play for him
Do your research, I used to think the same thing but not anymore.
The best musician artists.... An handsome
Killer tune
Awesome how he kept the original band or at least most
I’m pretty sure they all are. He was on Bill Mahers podcast and said he’s had the same band for 40 years. Even though they’ve argued and hated each other at times they are like family.
I never knew Gordon Ramsay could sing like that.
Stop it .I love JCM but I can't stop laughing at your comment
What happened to johns voice here? Srry but I heard the album version a million times. I totally want to hire the violinist on my albums
Where's the part where coug does the splits?
Soaring with the eagles...
Ship sailing out to sea?
Melony Griffith is extremely lucky wish she would send some of that luck to me
I just love this song. It's so poignant. Sure wish the director could have figured out which guitarist was playing the lead part in the bridge though. Do you think that he had his back turned to the audience at the beginning could have been a clue? Even if they had no idea how to read cues, they had a 50/50 shot and they blew it! Oh well, most people wouldn't know or care.
I WENT UP TO 63K IN 3 WEEKS FROM 865.
Who's the violin player it dosen'tlook like lisa germano.
That’s Miriam Sturm. She’s been with Mellencamp since 1996; her first album with him was “Mr. Happy Go Lucky.”
@@bradpreston7779 thanks shes real good
Your exactly what I want hope I can find someone just like you I am in a bitter divorce
Has anyone close to him ever told John that the solution to a tall forehead is not tall hair?
A tall forehead is a fivehead.
I’m guessing he doesn’t care
@@ronmay4945 if you didn't care he would just shave bald or cut his hair short
He’s 70 years old now and is successful beyond any metric so I’d say he’s probably not worried about it.
“Americana”
My soon to be x is Satan's best friend
Dude on accordion gets no love. Every solo he does they show the chic with the fiddle,,, I imagine he has quoted Rodney Dangerfield many times, "I get no respect" LOL
Mellencamp's music has always been great. Dead to me since he came to OSU and did a concert for Obama. He sho' is woke though.
John C Reilly is a much better drummer than Wil Ferrell (just saying)
I bet That guy just got fired... he messed up and John gave him that look... he blew that note... lol ....
Miriam is good but lisa was excellent 😊😊
Seems a bit tired
his original band had so my more energy and stage presence than this one. Even Wanchic seems like he is phoning it in.
Great song. 3:40 too bad the clueless video person has no idea of how to film the guy who is actually playing the guitar solo.
Sounds lie he is chewing the words instead of singing them.
My man is losing his voice
I liked him before he got political like Bruce the lost Boss Springsteen.
Just goes to show, good music, doesn't nessacarily mean,we agree politically.God help us.
