Lisa Germano was his first violin player, this woman is his second violin player Miriam Sturm although I read Lisa came back in 2023 for part of the tour
My late husband and I would dance in the living room to this song. My girls loved watching us. After he died I went to a Mellencamp concert and yelled for him to play Cherry Bomb for an encore and he did. Not sure if influenced him but I cried when he played it.
I'm from Indiana and came up listening to every album. No doubt he's a great song writer and celebrity. I got to meet him once. I worked at a glass factory designing a mosaic of Jesus for his shower. I remembering thinking that was weird, why does he want Jesus to stare at him while taking a shower?
An Accordion, a Violin, a couple Guitars, a Bass, and Drums. And of course the sweet voice of John Mellencamp. Also, the violin absolutely steals the show with the heart behind the performance!
Remembering my teenage years -- dancing at the clubs, getting sick on Southern Comfort, fast cars, falling in love, and fun I thought would never end. "Seventeen just turned thirty-five," Yeah, and many more decades, but I remember it all well. So glad for the 50s, 60s and 70s. Thank you, John and all the singers, groups and musicians -- the soundtrack of our lives.
this song will always have a special place for me in my memories , 1988, I was 22 yrs old , decided to travel for 6months with 2 friends , flew from London to Vancouver , great fun , then flew to San Francisco , more great fun . Then got a greyhound to santa Barbara . worked and hung out with some fantastic people here . working on a construction site all day and then party all night . this song was played all the time then and brings back all the happy memories of a great time
I love this man and his songs that he has shared with the world. I remember as a child I saw him on the Grammy's doing I Ain't Even Done With The Night. I did not get the end when they were trying to put the cape on him and he kept shrugging it off. ThenI figured out much later he was immitating James Brown!!!! I still watch that video on here. I wish I could meet him and tell him how much many of his songs touched me.
@@selenapozzoli4267 There is nothing better than to put on John's channel and just enjoy hours of good music which still exists but is hard to find on the radio these days. I want to go back to the time "when a sport was a sport and groovin' was groovin', and dancing meant everrything"!
John, man... I have so much respect 4 U as an artist, musician, writer, etc. Keep up the great work that U have always done my man! I'm a professional musician myself. This is one of my all time favorite songs! So well arranged, produced, written and everything! May God continue blessing U John. From: Don Q Williams
As an 18 year old, I love JM's music, this dude is real and still sounds great! Dance , me too! My age people are strange and just don't get it. Rock on JM
Had a guest singer come up and sing this song with my band last Tuesday night. Never rehearsed but turned out quite good. Our harp player played the violin parts. This is such a really deep and cool song, and of course, John can really belt it out, along with his terrific band. I truly love this. This is the real Americam music. No computers, no fluff, just real musicians making sounds that are the hammer of Thor! Thank you John and all for the BEST!!!!!!!
@@angrypatriot5392 the John Mellemcamp concert in Eugene, Oregon was great. My husband and I had never been to a concert at the Hult Center before this one, it was great!!
I saw John in 1997 here in San Diego, CA -- I was 19 at the time and I was stoked to see him live! Although most people my age had no idea who he was it was the best concert EVER!!! I heart JM!
Couldn't get the smile off my face seeing this...still got it all these years later....great version...thanks Fellas! My Father was a farmer way back when....
Great performance, there is a lot of good things happening here the accordian and violin or fiddle get a chance to rock, drummer is smoking, guitars sound funky, volume changes are nice too, saved to my favorites and my 2021 play along, thanks, I'll be 73 in April Always play and listen to 60's and 70's rock and on and on it goes. Oh and I almost forgot, and John carries this group as the front man.
Love this song That accordeon and violin Musicianship and of course Mellencamps voice Still top notch Same vibe as Mike Scott imo Check out fisherman’s blues live
Remembering the 1987 video which attended the release of ‘CherryBomb’. Attractive young black man and beautiful white girl. Sexy dance. Took cohones to do that, John. My wife and I are of the same color persuasion and we have been married 52 years now. We listen to it and asked that it be played and shown after our passing. Mellencamp, thank you for demonstrating American hope and courage and leaving your life and work as a testament to that. People, see the vision. The American idea can endure. See all of us as one and judge individually. “Outside the club, Cherry Bomb, our hearts were really thumping. Say, yeah, yeah yeah. “
Raleigh looks to have been a great show. Gotta get me some of that real (vinegar-based) BBQ. worked and visited there probably 15 years ago and experienced the best hospitality ever, even though I am native Californian! Blessings, Ed
The lady playing the violin, has been with John since he started.
And she still has it, this is a stellar performance

A real American hero. John is as real today as he was in 1975. Long live Mellencamp. Even if he is a Hoosier.
