I live in St Louis Missouri. The year is 2023 and John Mellencamp is in town tonight and tomorrow night for two concerts. I wish that I could be there to see him live in one of those two.
Amazing he is, I went into a small biker bar and a band was playing, the lead singer was amazing, I just went crazy, my date drug me out before I could finish my drink, then later I discovered that it was John Mellencamp.,
This was one of my husband's favorite songs he was born in a small town and he was a farmer he has been gone for 2 years 6 months in John mellencamp was one of his favorite singers I play the song at his funeral I find myself listening to all of my husband's favorite songs I can still see my husband today singing your song and dancing God be with all of us
Anyone who calls Mr, Mellancamp A One Hit Wonder is nothing short of delusional. John's songs have remained in the foreground of Rock n Roll for the last four decades. His career started on a shaky premise that he despised. As soon as he fulfilled his contractual obligations to those who told him he needed to incorporate dance Routines and to wear tight shirts; he changed back to himself and gave us songs that reflected brightly on a way of life that is cherished across generations. His songs speak of a deeply felt understanding of how the world shapes us and the collective wisdom he imparts in these wonderful stirring axioms that remind us that we all face life on our own merits. He brings us a comfort of words and a healing of music. He is undoubtedly an American icon and a truly gifted musician. One of the best singer song writers we have ever seen and a gift to the people who hear his voice.
He is a American Musical ICON! And I don't throw that word around lightly. Therefore, if you ever come across another person who refers to John as this , simply cut the conversation off. Life is too short to waste your breath on idiots.
John Mellencamp is a 100% Heartland Rocker and has consistently produced some of the world's greatest and most imaginative music - would just love to see him live!! Just LOVE this fantastic atmospheric and unpretentious performance!! Keep on rockin' John!!
Back in the 80's,this song spoke of dreams , inspiration and aspiration and up to this 2019...still gives me butterflies and goosebumps...where have real musicians gone.........
Just seen the Cougar in fort Wayne indiana may 15th 2023! He was amazing, he talked to the crowd so much! I was born in a small town in indiana like John! Love cherry bomb and peaceful world ❤..this man connects with my soul through music 😊
I know what you mean! My husband use to have his hair about this same length and when he decided to go short because it was easier to maintain, I was so upset! I still MISS it so.
Took my daughter to Bloomington to see a “Little 500 Concert” she was 10 at the time. Got to see the show from the side of the stage. We flew in from NY. Met Kenny☺️. 1992.
He is true and down to heart. We need more like him. The country needs to come back togeather. God bless you John Mellencamp for down to earth songs that tell life stories.
Always kicks musical ass everywhere he performs. Music from the heart, something that doesn't exist today. Noticed in the end, he was short of breathe from all that dancing around. Heavy smoking taking its toll even back then. God bless him and his music.
A one hit wonder? "I Need A Lover", "Ain't Even Done With the Night", "Hurts So Good", "Jack and Diane", "Hand To Hold On To", "Crumblin' Down", "Pink Houses", "Authority Song", "Lonely Ol' Night", "Small Town", "ROCK in the USA", "Rain on the Scarecrow", "Rumbleseat", "Paper In Fire", "Cherry Bomb", and "Check It Out" all made the top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. He's not even close to a "one hit wonder!" He's got plenty more hits, buy his "Words and Music: Greatest Hits." Great CD.
I'm from NW Indiana and John was from Seymour, IN, a small town and more rural. But as a Hoosier who graduated from IU, I'm proud of our 2 most famous citizens: John Mellencamp and Bob Knight, Lol...............
Oh, what you've done to your voice with all that smoking. It's good to come back to these oldies and see the true happiness you now lack on stage. Thanks for giving me front row seats and all the wonderful memories.
John Mellencamp, and Bob Seger are normal small town boy's... They are so laid back, no frill's no big production's, just jean's, t- shirts, tennis shoes!!!!!!!! They are both great singer's, and storyteller's!!!! From the Motor City, where we know our music!!!! 🎶🎶🎶!!!!

That's cool. I love the song Sukiyaki. I never knew the words to it but as a little girl i would ask my mom to play it til i fell asleep so she would reset the needle on the record...as an adult i learned what the japanese lyrics were an still love it the same.

John is a legend. An icon. Pure and simple!
