Looks like a totally reasonable district. It's ridiculous

I live in Illinois. Our legislature regularly jerrymanders the state to dilute the vote of white voters by including Chicago blacks and other minorities, which they know are mostly Democrats, in suburban and far suburban and even near rural districts. On the political map, Chicago looks like a pie sliced in 20 pieces which radiate way out into the farm country of northern Illinois.
I think districts should be created by computer, starting in one corner of a state and letting the computer divide up the state in a mathematically logical way completely regardless of the political party, race, or economic status of the residents.

THURGOOD MARSHAL TRIED TO WARN US. Thurgood marshal refused to endorse Thomas. During an interview regarding Thomas, he said his father told him "a snake, black or white is a snake".

The old district 1 map which this article doesn't show, was gerrymandered. It snaked through central SC, then, included most of the coast parts of the state - which are all black majority - gerrymandering either way is wrong. Making absurd districts like that was asking to be challenged. The new district 1 is more fair as it is broader in the central part of the state, and is more diverse, the old map tried to cut out any area that was not black majority.

SC blatantly gerrymandered the redrawn districts. The SCOTUS ruled it was OK because the intent was 'partisan' gerrymandering, instead of 'racial' gerrymandering. Gerrymandering isn't illegal (though it should be,) messing with people's representation over race IS. It had nothing to do with the old district, except that it was less gerrymandered. Don't lie to people.

Why spew more lies and misinformation. It’s because of people like you that our country is getting worse by the day. You’re obviously a republican with no real idea on how to make anything fair to start with.

Back to the 1950s we go. The John Lewis VRA must be passed into law. SC is a lost cause. We need the rest of the nation to save us again. "We're living in hell" - Ms Minnie (The Help)
