Hit the motherlode at the coinstar yesterday. Found $5.00 face value in silver (halves, quarters and dimes).
Wow! I haven't found more than a couple of pennies in the coin star lately. I don't check that often though.
Nice layout! This was fun.
The only times I’ve ever found silver dimes is when I was cashiering and someone came in to the store and actually PAID FOR MERCHANDISE with some silver dimes… (maybe they raided gramma’s coin jar!) ..of the hundreds and hundreds of dime rolls that I’ve opened I’ve never found a silver dime in a roll .. great hunt and congrats on the silver dime… a RARE SCORE!!
Thanks! People swear by dimes though. I just rarely have luck with them. Was thankful to find this one.
Customer wrapped hunts can be really fun .. you got a bunch of great finds including that war nickel, the Buffalo Nickel, foreign finds and dimes in the roll! That ‘59 with the golden toning and original mint lustre was also really nice .. entertaining hunt!
Customer rolls can be great or they can be the pits. So far most of mine have been pretty good. I did film one customer wrapped hunt and threw it away because I literally went through like $250 in customer change and found NOTHING. I didn't even want to rewatch it while editing it. :-)
Love the old coin wrappers especially customer wrapped !!!!👍👍
Yeah... me too. Whenever I see an odd or old wrapper I get excited. Lately it hasn't really worked out, but I still get excited.
A couple of notes, silver dimes are tough to find. A book/album filler is the best find ( I just filled the 2021S clad proof Crossing the Delaware and the S set of 2022 Woman's Quarters). Keep those great hunts coming.
I haven't had a ton of luck with the customer wrapped ones. I also notice some are short by 1 quarter so I wish the bank could count them for integrity of the roll.
I have had some great luck and some terrible luck with customer wrapped. I am personally glad they dont check every roll because I return thousands of dollars in coins wrapped week to week. I would be at the bank for hours and hours if I had to wait for them to count every roll. That said I get stiffed all the time too. Was nice to finally get a roll with more money in it than it was supposed to have.
@@GASilverHunter Good points! Yes, it would be a long wait if they counted each roll. Hahaha! Good job on the hunt!
Great hunt. Cool buffalo. Thanks and have a nice day
Congrats on the silver dime. I was shocked to see $1.60 of dimes in that nickel roll .
You and me both. I am used to getting stiffed with tons of pennies.
Congratulations on finding a silver dime and a Buffalo nickel and a silver war nickel thanks for sharing GA silver hunter
I just formed a good relationship with one of my local banks, and they have agreed to order me as many boxes of halves as I can handle! Lately I’ve had a hard time getting tellers to just give me what they have in their drawers let alone full boxes! That silver dime you found was awesome, I haven’t tried dimes yet but I think it might be fun ! Keep up the awesome videos !
Good luck!
Like a lot of service members and veterans, my bank is 99% online (USAA), so unless there is a credit union close that partners with them getting boxes is difficult, returning is nearly impossible. My channel will be attempting to teach people how to get rolls from banks to make for fun long hunts. I have gotten really experienced with both rejection and success in different banks and different branches. Some tellers have even started to hold customer wrapped and partial boxes for me at this point until I am able to get back through. Local businesses where I live have a difficult time getting coins so I keep them stocked and now some actually ask me for different denominations. Halves I use as fun tips, or to pay taxes and vehicle registrations...lol
Thats awesome. I live just outside of Atlanta which is HUGE and even the banks around here struggle to get change from time to time. Sometimes the banks ask me to bring back the coins they give me. Only once has a bank asked me to return halves to them. They actually just wanted $100 worth because they have enough customers come through that ask for 1 for a grandchild or something like that so they like having a small stash.
I wish we lived closer. I have $700 in mixed denomination coins that I just wrapped! I’d be happy to split it with anyone. I’m in north suburbs of Chicago.
I’m really far away from you. Would be fun to hunt though.
👍 silver dime !!!! Are you having trouble getting half’s ??
This past week, none of my half dollar orders came in. I hope they come in next week. I need at least 1 box for my GAW.
You should do more of these multi denomination hunts
I may depending on the boxes roll in. I actually picked up a few rolls of each yesterday but it was so few rolls I couldn’t make a video. Didn’t find anything.
This was a great hunt
Thanks Nette!
I have a question with the pennies. What years are the copper pennies and where do you send/sell your copper pennies?
1982 was a split year. They made both copper and zinc Pennies. 1981 and earlier are guaranteed to be copper. Except 1943, the penny was made of steel. I don’t sell them. I just hoard them.
@@GASilverHunter DO you think in the near future copper will be hard to find...Is it good time in hoarding copper pennies?
@@tsingtse7693 Copper is still fairly plentiful, but seems to be climbing in value slowly but steadily. Would I say its time to keep a dump truck of copper in your house... probably not, but if you are hunting pennies, I would say hang on to all your copper.
@@GASilverHunter Thanks for the advice...I'll keep them from now on..Thank you!
I'm not sure about the black beauty but I've been collecting the various yrs when I find them. I don't have many but they do come up. I've also seen them with quarters...now I'm guessing those are environmental damage but they have that Black coat ..almost like a glaze which is pretty cool.
The finish on it is what makes me second guess it. If I was a betting man I would say its environment damage
I went into my bamk asking for these customer rolls and they tell me they can't give me them cause they have to check the rolls to make sure the customer gave the right amount. I think it was bs. Gonna ask for a few rolls when I hopefully pick up my box of halfs. At least you got a bit of silver and older dates.
A black beauty would be more of a gunmetal color and still show luster
That makes sense. Still not sure I could identify one in the wild.
I do tape my rolls going back, but only to keep the rolls from opening and spilling out.
Some people do that but the wraps look unusual or old and they are taped it’s usually a pretty good sign.
Was at the store yesterday and in the need a penny take a penny there was a 1964 dime I was able to get. I put a dime in it's place so that was cool
Nice
Love the button! 🙂
I wonder what the person was thinking as they stuffed a button in the wrap. "Hey look Ma... it fits!" 😄
I stack scrap copper and have quite a bit. My buddy a HVAC guy so I get all the motors and strip them. Plan is to sell the scrap when it goes up a little bit more than I'll buy silver with it.
I got an offer for a free electric smelter if I would review it. Thinking about it.
@@GASilverHunter As long as they ask for an honest review and do not give you talking points, like an advertisement, take advantage of the opportunity. Those reviews really do help those of us who stack through multiple avenues and are looking for the next good product and have trust in the reviewer.
@@ptfstacking I got offered any one of the TOAUTO furnaces. I am partial to the electric one as I don't see myself doing a ton of melting. Don't want to have them send me a free one just to use it once for a review and then I put it away.
That sucks you can't get full boxes. My bank is pretty good at selling me a box . I started of buying 20 bucks in nickels and now moved up to boxes and my last hunt I found a lot that I needed for my album
I usually can. This week was just a bad one. It ebbs and flows.
Ha! I wish my 160+ customer nickel rolls I just ripped were like your dime stuffed. Almost every single one was only 38 nickels. Over the haul it cost me about $16! Jerks.
Congrats on the Silver finds!
Thats usually what happens to me. Was happy to see a win in my favor for once.
Do you have an account at all the banks in your town, or do you have a trick to get rolls from banks you don't have an account with?
I have accounts at 3 banks. Only do small volume customer wrapped coins from non-account banks if they will let me. I did get 2 boxes from a bank that I didn’t have an account at mainly because they had the boxes in their vault for months and they just wanted them gone.
I would also like to know how you tell a black beauty from a post mint damage coin. I get how a black beauty made
Wish I knew too. 😀
Maybe send the possible Black Beauty nickel in to get authenticated?
I am pretty sure at this point its just environmental damage. I wish it was a black beauty though.
I/m friends with manager at 6 or so banks where I live!!!!
Well that should make it super easy to get coins.
@@GASilverHunter I go bags of Nickels now
😎
I hope you checked the Dimes for errors and low mintage like 2009
I have in the past. Not this hunt. Dimes hurt my eyes. :-)
What do you think the mintage is for the button? I bet it's really high 😂😂🤣!
I bet they have made MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of those buttons. 😜
I went through 2 rolls of pennies and found 2 wheaties! Is this common or am I just lucky?
That’s actually pretty lucky. I have done a 50 roll box and only come up with 2-3 wheaties.
Wow! Maybe it depends on the location?
Its a lot of things... luck is probably #1. Location makes a big difference as well. I mean wherever you got those 2 rolls, might have 10 other rolls to choose from that had no wheaties in them... and you got the 2 that did. Maybe all of the other rolls had wheaties. I have done 50 rolls of customer wrapped and found none. I have done 5 rolls of customer wrapped and found 3-5. You just never know what you are going to get and that's what makes the hunt so much fun.
I suspect those nasty rolls are coins from a pond or wishing well. I got a whole stash of quarter rolls like that!
They were pretty gross!
WHY CAN'T YOU MAKE YOUR VOLUME ANY BETTER??????
Not sure what you mean... just played this back and it sounds fine. Do you think it should be louder or softer or what?
@GASilverHunter when I play your videos I have to max my volume on my tablet to hear what you say. Hope that helps.
@@Wolfe_Metals_Stacking Weird... I often get people telling me to make them not so loud. Will look into it.
