My search is for natural, original methods for restoring truly antique leathers. Not just old but damaged by mold etc and great age.

"You soon learn after a few years where to put the needles. A bit of pain will jog your memory." What a great video. Thank you!

The skill required to hold the awl and both needles and methodically make those stitches is really easy to underestimate. I've done some stitching myself, but I would have been tangled up after a few stitches lol

Thank you for producing your multi part refurbishment series, I think your guidance and techniques will be of big help to me. I have just been given a very old Revelation expanding leather suitcase, which is possibly in worse condition to this. I am really looking forward to giving it a sympathetic refurbishment, to keep its history and character. Thank you.

This video was just what I was looking for!! Bought a vintage briefcase and it's very badly worn. Although my stitching is not as great as in the video it's worked for its purpose. Now to figure out how to stitch the back back on

One suggestion i would like to make is Tandy puts out a nice handy tool called a craftool thread cutter . This tool is inexpensive and a good time saver when removing old stitching.

little tip, you can get more views for ads if the video is longer, with all bthe video fragmented into mini clips you could just put them all in a single video, then put an ad in the begining and then 1 more near the end. :) people will also be less likely to click off or wander off the content.

This is exactly what I needed. I inherited an old TLR camera from my grandfather that has a leather case that has completely come apart at the seams, and this is the exact stitch I needed to use to put it back together. I know this is an old video but if anyone knows what kind of thread was used could you please let me know?

Been looking for this type of video for days. Fantastic. Question for you. If the suitcase lid is warped or a bit splayed out is there a way to get it back into shape?

My boss has a 70 year old bridle used by his father in Portugal. It's really stiff. I've cleaned it up but was wondering if anything can be done. I can send a picture.

Hi Debra, try saddle soap to clean the leather first and then a leather balm or neatsfoot oil if it is really dry to condition it . If you look on You Tube you might find a video on how to clean tack . The products you should be able to get easily from either a saddlers , Amazon or eBay. Hope this helps

I have an English Civil War lead measure and want to restore it somewhat. What and how do I do this? I know it's going to be very tricky and time consuming but I'd like to try.
