I also think they reused some of Charles onomatopoeia used in older M&L games, but when it's clear words it's the new guy. I'm a fan of what the new guy is doing, it isn't just a poor imitation of what Charles was doing, it's own unique thing that is still Mario like.
yeah, as for the rest: Partners in Time is mostly forgettable Dream Team is good but suffers from having way too many tutorials and Paper Jam...kinda exists and just really suffers from having any sort of originality
Outside of these 3 RPG series, we’ve also had Mario + Rabbids for the Switch, which has been another great Mario RPG series. We’ve essentially gotten 4 Mario RPG games from each of these series within the span of 2 years, from Sparks of Hope, to Super Mario RPG Remake, to Paper Mario TTYD Remake, to now Mario & Luigi Brothership. It truly is the Mario RPG Renaissance
@@TheRenaissanceOfficial Some argue that M+R doesn't count since it's technically a strategy game. And yet it still has elements that might as well make it one.
Mario & Rabbids isn't an RPG. There are themes & the game is categorized to RPG, but it's not by execution or just overall. It would instead be a Tactics game like XCOM. Doesn't mean the game isn't fun, far from it.
(1:59 That's definitely Kevin) I love how we're getting all these Mario RPG as of late. First we Mario + Rabbids which was a strategy crossover with the Rabbids that actually make them likeable and made Jr. the Main Antagonist, then we got TOK which somewhat tried to bring the RPG elements back and is considered the best out of the Modern trilogy, then we Sparks of hope, which despite being overlooked by many, improved on the first game in almost every way, then we got remakes of actual RPG classics with a new one coming this year. We are eating good.
Although Mario & Luigi still sound like Mario & Luigi, it sounds different enough that I think it's Kevin Afghani and not Charles Martinet. The games used the same voice lines for years so I was actually happy when there was a New voice actor and that we got New lines and Kevin Afghani does an amazing job voicing the characters
2:21 no that's Definitely the new guy Kevin. His mario is ehh hut or miss bur he makes an amazing luigi. I hope Nintendo knows they were lucky to have Charles Martinet he was a Gem and was capable of doing all those voices for them.
I personally like Mario & Luigi more than Paper Mario, so i’m very excited for Brothership, especially considering that AlphaDream went bankrupt and we all thought a new game would never come out.
for the voices over, i it was from the new guy. i can clearly recongnise the new guy over charles martinet, however they probably got better at doing mario and luigi's voices
If this game is like other mario & luigi i feel so bad for you. Because the button timing is the hardest thing ever. Also love the mario & luigi from superstar saga with the battle music from that game playing
Super Mario RPG is a very important legacy game that I probably would not have played if it didnt come to switch as a total remaster. Paper Mario TTYD is one of the most renowned Mario RPG games and one that they've never been able to match in quality since, and I'm so glad it's back. Mario and Luigi is a series i was sad about because i thought id never see it again, and I'm so happy that it's back and the fact that it's a brand new adventure. They are all great
and hopefully we'll get more Mario RPG's that are great and no longer be stuck in that rut of having entries that range from being sub-par to bad as we have seen with Paper Jam, Sticker Star, Color Splash and Origami King. i mean the TTYD remake was great as the original Paper Mario trilogy was before
No contest it was Thousand Year Door that was most exciting for me. Super, I wanted and I recently got it, but I could wait. Mario and Luigi releases so close to Christmas I can wait there, too, even if the game looks amazing and I am incredibly excited to see it back. TTYD I flat out was losing my mind waiting for the game to release, and I NEEDED it day one. It’s one of my favorite games ever so I was the most excited for it by a Donkey Kong Country mile.
Mario + Rabbids is also an RPG - it’s more of a square (3 classics 1 modern) We still don’t know who’s making Mario & Luigi Brothership since Alphadream is dead and as for what’s next in terms of the switch successor we’re not sure what new Mario RPG’s Wii get for it this around? Like a Mario & Luigi 7-10, Paper Mario 64 or Super Paper Mario Remake, A new paper Mario game which would be the 7th after the origami king being the 6th and the next 2 Mario + Rabbids games after the success that was both Kingdom Battle and Sparks of Hope along with their DLC Sets. Geno fans now have hope for Geno to finally get in Smash 6 or Ultimate Deluxe.
I am personally the most hyped for Mario and Luigi Brothership than any of the other 2 simply because it is an original game. A new Paper Mario in the style of ttyd would have been close though. Either way, all 3 are great to have. And absolute must buys for people who haven't played them before.
1:50 the new voice actor is really good, his voices are obviously younger but he sounds really close to Charles maybe N64 mario to me, not perfect but he surprise me in wonder
Thousand Year Door's overwhelming sucess gives me hope for the future of Paper Mario, are we finally experiencing a return to form for the series? It also gives me hope that my favorite game in the series, Super Paper Mario, gets its own respective remake, too (though I do believe SPM needs more drastic changes to its gameplay than TTYD got)
Paper Mario is def the most exciting because I thought that classic gameplay was dead. I also prefer Paper mario's gameplay and story way more than the other games. If we were to get another Mario and Luigi game after Paper Jam, I would be skeptical because of how terrible Paper Jam was, but Brothership looks outstanding!
Having 3 different Mario RPGs is redundant from a certain point of view. But I consider it like having multiple different flavors of the same candy. You don't just want the same thing every time, so it's better to have alternative takes on the same basic concept. I mean if you look at most real-life sports, they usually revolve around the same universal concept of moving a ball or a puck to a goal. I mean if Final Fantasy can do the whole "different but the same" thing every game, then why can't Mario RPGs? Will some be better than others? Absolutely. But it also means there will be a Mario RPG for every kind of player.
I wasn’t sure if Mario + Rabbids counted. Also it’s kind of a newer series. I really enjoyed the games a lot I just don’t think they count as legendary yet.
@@TheRenaissanceOfficial I don't think they do count, those are RTS games, not RPG games. Even if by some very loose definition they ARE, talking about them alongside the other RPGs is pointless
@@TheRenaissanceOfficial No it's not, I just realized what I said didn't make sense ^^' I didn't pay enough attention to the title and thought that you said it was a renaissance because all of these great Mario franchises are coming back ^^'
I just hope the bros still say,
"potonotunitenatunanasenatoagamamabrrrrsenananaseradenananarabataniti."
I can’t wait to hear Kevin do the Italian gibberish
“I do the potato”
Those Mario and Luigi voices were the new guy. It probably sounds better because he has more practice or better voice direction
Well he is doing a fantastic job.
He started in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
I actually like him better than late Charles. Reminds me of Charles in what I think was his prime on the GameCube.
I also think they reused some of Charles onomatopoeia used in older M&L games, but when it's clear words it's the new guy. I'm a fan of what the new guy is doing, it isn't just a poor imitation of what Charles was doing, it's own unique thing that is still Mario like.
@@gagegravy8733 no Kevin does all Mario’s sounds. He’s just better at the “wahs” and the “oofs” than the speaking.
kevin afghani practiced because that sounds amazing
I cannot recommend the Mario and Luigi games enough. Superstar Saga and Bowser’s Inside Story in particular are masterpieces
yeah, as for the rest:
Partners in Time is mostly forgettable
Dream Team is good but suffers from having way too many tutorials

Bowser’s inside story was my introduction to that series and I still loved that game. Without it (and smt) I wouldn’t appreciate rpg in general

The new voice of Mario & Luigi is Kevin Afgahni ( if I spelled it correctly ). He first took over Charlies Martinet in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
