    Wow nice change at 0:42, "singing"... If I'm reading correctly Aø7 to B minor... But the voicing of the counterpoint, wow. It's one thing to write those two changes in there, it's another to have it lead in from before, then to move back home so smoothly to G. Bravo!
    Edit, on second thought might not even be a B minor, just a G major 7 without the G haha, using the Eb in the "Aø7" as a passing tone, which actually makes it more of a D7b9, with just another drop off the root. Maybe this explanation makes more sense. Regardless of the theory, it's very clear those sets of notes moved very little and created a GORGEOUS harmony and motion. I only want to explain it to recreate it! Bravo again!

    • @Paul_K_
      @Paul_K_ 5 месяцев назад

      The Bm/D is functioning more like D13. The 7th in the bari has to be changed to a second root to avoid the half-step rub.* In barbershop, iiø7 is…everywhere. But iiø7->V7 in particular is very common, and this is the sound of that progression, working around the melody note being B instead of A over the D chord.
      *the 7th will sometimes stay if it's 11 half steps below the 13th instead of 1 half step above

I’m the person who commented on your Lida Rose/Will I Ever video about being the Baritone in my school’s rendition of The Music Man, and I just wanted to let you know it went absolutely incredibly. Every performance was miles better then the awesome preformance of the day before, and my fellow qt members were an absolute joy to be around.
    Thank you so much for inspiring me so much to improve my musicality. I even did a multitrack tag of clouds on fire (using your part tracks on goodtags) on GarageBand and I loved it.
    I also have a request! Do you think you could post a tag (or just the whole song but I know how much work that is) of The Chordbuster’s March at some point? It is one of my absolute favorite quartet songs, and also the probably most barbershopy song that ever barbershoped.
