Jason, thanks for the transcription and tribute to my video and RUclips channel!! I’m so glad people are enjoying them!
It's always an absolute pleasure, making sure more and more people get to see the kind of wonderful work you do for the barbershop community and the music community as a whole on RUclips! I just want to make sure I do whatever I can with my platform to get more people singing all this wonderful music :)
I subscribed to Tim's channel because of these videos. I love them, absolutely incredible vocals and design! Thanks for the wonderful music, Tim!
You’re amazing Tim!
@@jasonfieler Thanks, Jason!!
@@alexkilbourne2974 Thank you, Alex!!
I like how he moved for each recording so the background is one continuous landscape
Nevemind maybe it was a coincidence for the middle 2
I hadn’t noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out.
While the background is not exactly perfect,
it certainly adds another interesting visual element.
No, they're just different people come on!
I’m 1 year late but you’re partially right still, look at the water

Fun Fact: Tim recorded this entire song in one take (per part, obviously). It was so good that it even made his second album Higher, which celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year!
Woooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!
Really. Sounds like the bass from...
What is this song called
@@RedstoneActive922 Ebb Tide
Sounds auto tuned and layered with effects....
This isn't nostalgia, it's love.
True love
💝
A nostalgic love? :D
It give me the feels
to me both have a similar feeling
that ending is mind-boggling. it goes from Db to ending in Ab but feels fully resolved. so clever and beautifully sung by Tim :)
It sounds that way because the second-to-last chord is a substitute chord of the dominant of Ab...to put it simply, it's a resolution that we're used to hearing so we feel it resolve to Ab regardless of the surrounding context. The Ab chord is NOT the tonic of the key and certainly won't analyzed as such, but because the resolution is so familiar to us, it legitimizes itself.
I was thinking the SAME EXACT THING!
Making hose awkward intervals sound in a certain way is all about the context, and there for me at least lays the beauty and difficulty of composing music. Same with chords.
Circle of fifths baby
It's just walking down from the 1 chord to the 5 chord
The way the melody voice hits the “tide” at 2:05, I could listen to this forever
yea, it kinda reminds me of the beginning of "misty"
Something I’ve always wanted to do (for the past 60 years!) but I’d never come close to this masterpiece!
It’s two major third intervals :)
I have to say that 1:25 to 1:40 is one of the actual most nostalgic parts about this performance. Something about the repeatedly rhythm mixed with the notes just makes it feel like the past.
Agreed. This dude’s voice is incredible I want a voice like that 😭💗
the beginning tho...
The ascending line cliché 😩👌
It is partly because of the Augmented chord in the 2nd bar. Augmented chords are awesome!
The notes are definitely in other songs
Imagine being able to sing so very on pitch without ears. 😳😉
He's definitely got ears. One on each side.
@@DerekHartley 😳😎
Imagine being able to just sing so very on pitch. This guy sings so well
hes an incredible singer but i believe this has melodyne on it
@@lagesol4843 Why is it people who can't accept that some people are talented just assume that everyone cheats? There's no autotune, melodyne or anything here.
Sounds like “pure imagination” and “how deep is your love “ had a baby this dudes voice is amazing
That augmented chord at 1:25 has so much power and feeling behind it, this arrangement is amazing!
I don’t know why or what it is, but this song feels like warmth. Like everythings gonna be okay, and that no matter who you are or where you’re at, you’ll always be loved and appreciated because you, too, are human.
Well said. 🎯
Cause the human mind loves harmonies we get a dopamine rush from them
Ew. That's cheesy.

Just woke up.. felt like sht.. after hearing this just made my morning better :D
End a go to sleep. End after hearing this a gonne dream well 🤗
0:17 that major 7th is Just. So. Magical.
Imo there is nothing like the majesty of a 13th chord 😍
is that really a maj7 chord? thought is was just a regular dominant 7th
@@Canestri_i took me a minute to figure out the chord itself, but it’s an Ab13 chord. Not a dominant 7th. It has an F natural instead of an Eb therefore making it a 13 instead of a dominant 7th.
I don't see enough people talk about the chord on brace at 1:20 . That is a BEAUTIFUL chord.

do u know what chord it is? I don't really know music theory stuff 😅

I thought this was another cliche acapella but as more time passed, I was enchanted. Like holy shit, *added to playlist*
This sounds like an old Disney film song, this sounds great
Hey, this is the dude from Vocal Spectrum. Amazing tenor, just absolutely impeccable singer. Some of his tags were insane
Crazy how he got such good audio quality near a river!
Listening to this on repeat and ascending to a higher state of being
I am playing this as my first dance song at my future wedding. it broke me into tears, this is such a magnificent display of true love through music and i want to feel nothing but the way this song made me feel. So swayed through perfection and beauty. truly inspiring and so well put together.
Great performance and transcription! Tim is a brilliant performer. On my channel I have a version of this song in 13-tone equal temperament instead of 12 (it’s not as good as Tim’s obvi but if you like cool chords I think you’ll at least appreciate the color)
hello, Could you translate Vocal Spectrum's 'Scarborough Fair' to a note.... there are definitely more than 4 voices, sometimes it seems to me that it comes to 6, but I can't hear them. I will be very grateful. could you make this work and put it on the channel?
@@konstantinprozorov135 I definitely did not double check before writing this but I’m pretty sure they sang that with gas house gang on the first VS album. 8 parts 👍

Shit got me goin through a flashback
Why the hell does this sound familiar yet so foreign, it sounds so ominous yet so open and free that you know exactly what it is yet it is a enigma. There is no question… this is nostalgia 👏👏👏
Excuse my ignorance, but he does this without any pitch correction afterwards? I can´t really tell and I know barbershops get to this level of tuning in live performances and stuff, but its just amazing that him can do it all alone and so flawless.
I would pitch a guess at no pitch correction, just based on Tom as a singer. In other recordings he's done, you can hear enough overtones to rule out pitch correction. So probably not.
I know your comment is a year old but the original singer commented because others assumed there was pitch correction and he said he used software or something to sync up the separate takes better but there was no form of pitch correction used
panning the different voices is surprisingly helpful for hearing each individual voice.
I've been so busy lately that I haven't sat down and listened to choral music for a while. But this incredible video stopped me in my tracks. Thank you for reminding me about the importance of music.
@TimWaurickMusic - Tim I consider this the most immaculate recorded piece of music on the web. I haven't found a flaw in it, and the harmonies are out of this world. I listen to it at least 10 x a week
A year ago this was posted. It came up on my recommendations today. As a chorus student this makes me so happy to hear as I love different parts of the singing scale being put to together. Now if you don't mind me I will play this again and cry.
What a deliciously palpable series of chords!
have I,perchance, entered heaven? As I am certain only a divine being could create something so utterly beautiful yet so simple in nature. I now feel like a blessed man
Tim, I had to listen to this three (3) times today (9/18/22) to finally figure out what you (Lead) was doing. Your performance was exemplary - I'm sure Freddie is smiling through tears of joy. What I noticed was from 1:05 through 2:00 - you sang to the wall. There was something you were thinking about, and it was deep. That through caused you to go behind the wall, and there were a couple of times that you held back an emotion that most mere mortals aren't able to - the thought of a single person standing right in front of you looking into your eyes, that you love deeply. I'm learning how to use the wall, and I hope to become half as talented/effective as you are in that segment. I've never felt as happy about crying as I did at the end of that segment. Though the word I'm choosing is hyphenated, it's as best as I can do : soul-stirring.
A life-changing listen for me. Oh my heart.
That ending just hit something I've been longing for so long. Cried coz I just miss feeling that for years now.
You'll find it
This gives me the same vibes as the chorus in Man on the Internet’s Undertale the Musical. It’s very bittersweet and resonant, both musically and emotionally.
It’s this hole in my chest that I know is empty, but I don’t know if I want to fill it. It’s a comforting void, a darkness that welcomes me with open arms. It’s a soft blanket ready to swallow me whole after a long day, letting me rest in the memories of the good times before.
Then the song ends. The void slowly closes, leaving a new kind of emptiness. A colder one. Instead of embracing with the loving arms of before, it constricts and suffocates hope with the worries and despairs of now. It rips off the rose-tinted glasses of yesteryear and forces a look at the horrors of our world.
Its like melancholic but also hopeful and loving and like kind of breathtaking at the same time
Take a bow,
How it all harmonises... absolutely breathtakingly amazing
Do not thank us.... We are extremely grateful for this
This is one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard. I listen to it every night. Wow
2:35 Want a break from the adds?
All jokes aside, this is brilliant. It’s beautiful.
This arrangement makes my heart soar. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I've never heard this song before but i got goosebumps on two separate occasions watching this lol
This genuinely made me cry
Bro this sounds heavenly, I feel lucky that my ears have had the privilege to be blessed by this sound
When I sing this song I always forget the lyrics and the first thing that comes to mind is "When the moon... hits your eye... like a big pizza pie" and i can't unhear it
0:56 I think the word is "fire", not "thought". Great transcription!
it definitely is, my bad lol, I was writing the lyrics separately from the video because I was in a place where I couldn't listen, but I suppose I somehow didn't catch that when proofreading, apologies, but I'm glad you like it!
It’s interesting because the lyrics in the original song and this arrangement are thought, but I think Tim changed it. Not a bad thing just interesting!
@@danielrambler2845 actually, in the Fred King arrangement (which is what Tim is singing), in measure 15 he gives you the option to sing either "thought" or "fire", and in measure 35 he gives the option to sing either "arms" or "love".
This was genuinely beautiful. I actually shed a tear watching this masterpiece It felt very nostalgic and reminded me of the good times when i was a toddler
Ebb Tide is such a beautiful piece.. Your voice is amazing!
This isn't Tim Waurick's channel, though I highly recommend you go to his and watch some stuff
Maybe it’s the singing… maybe it’s the sensual blue eyed stare
i literally got chills at every single fermata towards the end
Tim has an amazing vocal range. Its so soothing to listen to him. 🥹
STOP MY HEART!!!! In all the world, nothing will ever top this! This is beyond magic! I could never get enough!
To me this song feels like comfort.
The vision I'm getting is two lovers on an empty beach declaring their love and running out into the waves, laughing and taking in everything.
that's gotta be the most beautiful song I've ever heard
I cried the first time I heard this, absolutely beautiful.
No, because this is the first time I'm hearing this beautiful song. Nostalgia feels like the memory of things I've already heard of, it feels like missing the first impression of what I love.
i cried while listening to this and i don't know why
Am i the only one who hears an overtone major 3rd on the last chord? Absolutely beautiful.
Reminds me of Misty by ella Fitzgerald
I totally thought it was in the first measure
@@r81n70I heard rachmaninov
I love how the melody shifts between the Lead and the Tenor part, it happens so smoothly that if you are not looking for it you can easily miss it, but at the same time in certain parts it's screaming at you that this is the melody. Seriously love this piece and I would love to perform it!
Wow! This was soooo beautiful! Made me cry!!!!!!! 😭
God bless! 💜
That was absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of a song you might hear in a very old Disney movie. Like Cinderella or Pinocchio.
I have been waiting for this transcription for so long!!

This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to, this is my new favorite song
Absolutely friggin beautiful. Wow!
Well this is truly beautiful. A delight, and the emotion gets me every time I listen to this. A truly fine example of four part harmony. Thank you Tim.
At the age of 7, I began my love of Barbershop that for many years played an absolutely huge role in my life. I was blessed with a mom that introduced me to Barbershop when she began singing with Harmony First Chorus in Springfield, IL. I went every week to practice and learned every note and every move of choreography. I was fortunate that, after many years of sitting on the sidelines, they voted to allow me in even though I was only 12 at the time. The most magical times in my life were spent practicing, performing, and competing. I went to a Men's International in the early 80's, which was one of the most thrilling experiences of my life! Thank you for sharing on this channel. It brings me so much joy to watch the videos. My mom has been gone for a couple of years now, and I feel close to her when I listen. God bless!
Woow! Beautiful harmonies, goosebumps til the end. Amazing!
I didnt even expect this video to be the most magical vocal singing ive ever heard, and im literaly always surrounded by music and musicians so im saying this with all sense and reason, just wow🎉❤️💯
