      @@GaninIsMyName Also, anyone who knows anything about Western music theory. Rarely does a song end on a (iirc) ii m7 chord. And even those with no knowledge of music theory or barbershop conventions would likely have seen the emotion going on up there to see that the lead needed a moment to pull himself back together again. (Had he recently lost his father before this performance? This interaction seemed so raw... even more so than subsequent performances of this song by them... Or is he just that amazing an actor/singer?)

    Especially when paired with the lyrics "again", it ends up souning like a very churchy Amen, which fits perfectly with the lyrics that read like a prayer.

    Never been moved so much that I started crying before hearing this. I first heard this right after me and my girlfriend broke up and I just broke down crying after hearing this for the first time. I just couldn't handle it. I thought I could get by without crying, but seeing that man cry when I already had a tear in my eye is like someone telling me it's okay to cry. I will never forget this performance.

    I was listening to this while doing something else, not paying too much attention to the lyrics, so I didn't read the title of the song neither did I hear when they said "mother" the first time; that's why when I heard "she's dying to dance with my father again" it hit me like a truck and I sunk down entirely. Dear God. This song was beautiful.
    I want to thank you for sharing it and allowing me (with everyone else) to listen to it.

    Signature debuted this song at Harmony College Northwest that year and I watched Jean Barford coach them on it. It was incredible watching Daniel perform this again and again, I honestly don't fully understand how he pulled that much emotion out over and over. GOAT.
    And then I was in the audience when he performed this at international and was floored.

      What did they sing today?

    • @ParkerRognrud
      @ParkerRognrud 2 года назад +1

      @@1stCZbarbershopper They sang “Think,” “Dance With My Father,” and then finished with “Proud Mary.” They put on a phenomenal set and Daniel was the most emotionally moved during “Dance With My Father” as I had ever seen him. It was raw and beautiful.
