If you have any questions or just wanna hang out, I started streaming 5 days a week at: www.twitch.tv/arrenk see ya there! I’ve been working on a documentary about Star Wars for the past 2 years. But the youtube algorithm is so broken that subscribers don’t see it in their feeds. Here it is folks, watch and enjoy! ruclips.net/video/WYiKLZDd-4I/видео.html& For people who complain about Rey being in a video . Here is the long explanation: The entire video revolves around number 3 . Video is 3:33 long. Kreia sees the future in 3 acts . Specifically how history repeats itself. 3 examples are shown . 3 Hero journeys . Video itself is made with a 3 act structure (Just like most of my the other videos) Act I from 0 - 1:13 Act II 1:14 - 2:02 Act III 2:03-2:51 Act I is a hero introduction. Act II is the journey. Act III is the final confrontation. Just as in the game or movies etc so in this video . As Kreia herself is a self aware of their own story and how she is that final confrontation. She says sadly "and there must always be a darth Traya , galaxy needs it's betrayers" Malak=betrayer Vader= betrayer Kylo=Betrayer (Kreia=Betrayer) As all are shown If I'd use Anakin instead of Rey , i would break the the classic 3 act hero journey structure. Showing Anakin-Ship-Anakin- and no explosion (There is no big explosion to finish it up just like with others ((and little anakin blowing up that SIS ship in Phantom menace is not a big deal for the future fate of the galaxy.)) . So in conclusion I had to show the betrayer meaning Kylo , had to have that explosion , because of how music plays . And had to make the entire Kreia seeing the future as understandable as possible for everyone . Anakin would have broke the perfect repetition cycle . P.S. Also the Dead spot in the force is shown 3 times throughout the video . P.S. 2 I'm not a big fan of rey at all . I love what she represents as a Hero , the idea itself of nobody is great, but I never enjoyed how she is actually represented at all. Thank you all and hopefully this answers some of the confusion . May the force serve you well
@@syfarthewolf9139 Because she's not a blind idealist, she pays every sentiment in unique merits, and does her best to temper her view of others so that she is not 'influenced'. ;)
well i mean... Kreia is right... from legends to cannon the balanace of the force is a pure conflict of light side and dark side.. if one side becomes more powerful within the galaxy, then the force will be on the side of the underdog in that regard. kreia realised this, and ultimately you can say kreia chose the light side.. she didn't want more conflict, more death.. she decided on the fact that without the force the galaxy would be a safer better place to live in. she saw in the exile the same power that Darth Nhilus (spelt wrong, mask dude from kotor2) had. but compared to him, the exile chose the light side.. so with a power like that but directed in a positive way could ultimately strip the universe of its capability to produce force users, thus ending the force entirely within the galaxy.. kreia had a dream.. a good dream in a logistical point of view..
Kreia is the polar opposite of Qui Gon Jinn. While Qui Gon Jinn embraces the will of the "Living Force", Kreia despises it, almost to the point of "breaking the fourth wall". She is aware that the Force seems to have a consciousness, and hates the destiny it thrusts upon beings.
departed402 holy shit what if, and it only just crossed my mind as I read your comment, qui gon was his era's traya for there must always be a Darth traya
@@fenneclord9581 I love Traya but her arc is complete. Any new content for her should be during the Mando Wars. Jinn flipping philosophies is more to build the world than to bring Traya back the same and hate everyone
Ella Mae i played both sides the light and the dark it was most interesting really . im just suprised they didnt change the ebon hawk into a destroyer like the starforge in. The Kotor
"Losing the force is like having something to say but never finding the words. It is a chorus replaced with silence. Hearing teachings without meaning. It is like having a beloved pupil to whom you shared everything, sacrificed everything, and then having him turn from you and forget all you were."
Kreia is one of the best Star Wars characters of all time. She is Deep,Complex and thought provoking and best of all she is memorable. She is a female Star Wars character done right!!!
I like how Kreia doesn't advocate the selflessness of the Jedi or the selfishness of the Sith, but instead tries to instil the importance of Choice. Condemning one who submits to either extreme and instead praising those who make their own path and stay true to themselves. At least that's how I see it.
But what about dis: "An open hand can cause as much damage as a closed fist" Kreia litarly says helping people denies them the strength gained from facing a conflict to find oneself, or fins yourself lacking.
@@bird9230 that's this quote: "if you seek to aid everyone in the galaxy you will only weaken yourself...and weaken them. It is the internal struggles, when fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards." Sometimes, not always, but sometimes the best way to help someone is to leave them alone. Let them succeed or fail on their own. Either way they'll likely come out wiser and better for it. After all, are you even qualified to help that person? Think, treat each situation differently and don't rush to help. Your quote is "be careful of charity or kindness, lest you do more harm with an open hand then a closed fist." She's saying don't be nice for the sake of being nice. Think before you act, otherwise you might instead end up hurting them in some form or manner. Both of these stem from the same source: choice. And the ripple effect yours has on other people and their own respective choices.
Your mistake is to think that just because one CHOOSES a path to believe in and follow that there isnt choice. After all her high sounding musings all she is is a selfish beeotch obsessed with her own power for her own power's sake which will never be enough on her own to make her as "independant" as she desperately needs to be and actually blinds her to true wisdom. She is like a bitter, rebellious teenage girl in denial and stomping her feet and yelling "you can't tell me what to do! I know better!"
Although I acknowledge that the Force has indirectly killed countless lives in the many wars throughout the galaxy. Still in my opinion I wouldn’t have it any other way. Life is all about personal growth and finding meaning in your life. The Force offers people both a tangible hope and spiritual growth on a primordial scale. So why must we fear war and death? Honestly I don’t see pain and death as a bad thing. It lets us know that we’re still alive and that in our final moments our actions have meaning. Atleast this is just what I believe. So honestly I say to hell with Kreai’s ambitions. *That’s my answer.* *May The Force Be You, Always.*
@@bigwill45 You have heard but you have not listened. Kreia's problem is she hates what is quite literally the God of the Star Wars mythos because this God took choice away from her, and continually forces the Galaxy into horrific conflicts that result in billions of sentient lives being crushed and destroyed. Kreia is a self-aware villain who realizes that her fate is pre-determined, and that the fate of all things has been pre-determined by the Force (the script). As long as the Force exists there is no choice. No free will. All of this will just happen over and over until the heat death of the universe. Kreia rejects the Force. The Exile is special to her because the Exile, in a moment of sheer pain and agony, rejected the Force so thoroughly that they literally wounded the Force. They became a dead spot in the Force where it has no influence, which is why we as a player can make our own choices. Kreia sees in us a Galaxy that is free of the Force's will for better or worse. Everything Kreia does is so in that final moment you can choose to carry on her legacy, and perhaps one day by teaching enough Force sensitives to be like you, the Force will die.
"Yet I am just a hypocrite...whose come to rely...on what's she despises..." Making everything you put in the trailer...as she ignores it ALL for vengeance on Nihlius and The Force... Is a lie: as she can never follow her own beliefs herself...and projects them... Onto you. Ironically, her apathy was continuing to use The Force secretly as a Sith: all the while preacing: the goal to existence, was to live withut it. As the game showed: Kreia's apathy with giving up the force: twisted her into a madwoman: who sought out a exile to train: So kreia could defeat the inner philosophy of the Sith: she couldnt let go. And in the end: she demands you kill her at malachor v: to prove to her broken and borderline Mad self or mind... Through You... She...was right...as her teachings in you...defeated the Sealed Sith teachings of Betrayal... That *owned* her...
Benjamin Keith Kreia didnt fall to the dark side, it was her choise, a sacrifice. "The world needs its traitors". The reason why she turned to the dark side was to bring you to Malakor, to save the future of the jedi order from the dark side and the light, from the force. Also, the Kreia that was speaking about apathy is not a true Kreia, but an image of her projected and perverted by the dark side force nexus on Corriban. Apathy is indeed worse then death, but not always. Apathy is the lack of will to do something, and lack of action as a result, but sometimes lack of action is better then any action you can take. For example: when you are given a choice to side with Kreia or your other companions on Corriban you have 3 choises, to side with her, side with everyone else, or to do nothing. Doing nothing is a correct choice, cause both sides of the conflict are not real, but just an illusion. The main difference is that you do nothing for a reason, not cause you just dont care, so it cant be called apathy. The jedi lie to themselves that they are peacekeepers, they rely on the force in everything they do, and let the force "guide" them in their life. If they were truly the peacekeepers they claim they are then they would do everything in their power to keep the peace, they wouldnt limit their numbers to just force sensative people. Instead they limit themselves by their dogmas and do nothing, not cause its better to do nothing, but cause the force doesnt "guide" them to do anything, so they dont care, and that is true apathy. They lack the strength of their own, only the force, an "ally". They are strong not cause of who they are as people, not cause of what they know and what they can do by themselves, but cause the force allows them to be strong. Thats why they fall to the dark side so easily. They see only what the force shows them, what it wants to show them. They are weak people, just like every other relogious person. And sith are no better, even worse. If jedi are slaves to the force, then sith are just tools, meant to be thrown away when they have no use anymore. Fall to the dark side is one of the greatest displays of weakness. I can go on and on about this, but Im gonna end it here.
"As you would pass judgement on her, I have come to pass judgement on you all." Such an intimidating line... I love how you connect to the attack on Telos. In the game Kreia is such a manipulator that sometimes it can be hard to understand the causes/effects going on. I really respect the people who wrote the script for this game. The level of passion and quality they achieved with this work is just amazing. And the same goes for this video.
You kind of have to love her for going after the Jedi Masters like that, the whole game you're going out of your way to save the order finding them all. But in every interaction with all of them you're just taking so much crap constantly.
I weep for people who haven't played the KOTOR series, it truly is a master class experience when it comes to storytelling and Kreia hands down is my favourite character in the Star Wars universe.
"And that is something that the Council would never understand. That perhaps Revan never truly fell. Perhaps he became the Dark Lord out of necessity to prevent a greater evil. The difference between a fall and a sacrifice is sometimes difficult, but I feel that Revan understood that difference more than anyone knew."
@Jakub Perhaps not. It seemed to me that Vitiate WAS the greater evil, and that if Revan and Malak had been able to escape and report what they discovered to the Republic, that it could've caused the Sith to move sooner. Then again, perhaps this also could've worked in the Republic's favor.
The Exile was unique in many ways. First, she had a gift for forming connections through the Force. She influenced the people around her: her subordinates, companions, random people she met on her journey. What was happening to her echoed on them. Second, she survived the events on Malachor. When the planet died, crushed by artificial gravity, everyone on the surface and in orbit died with it. The echo of this massacre, the echo of thousands of death cries, deafened Force-sensitive so much that it led to their death. Places like Malachor became wounds in the Force, echoing their tragedies. But the Exile did not die. To save her life, she had to cut herself off from the Force, to break the connection. And that created an even bigger wound. The spot at which the Force had no power, that it could not control. The Exile bore the echo of Malachor's deaths and a hole in the Force within her. Kreia wanted to use it. She hated the Force for setting up repeating cycles of war to achieve what she called "balance". The Light fought the Darkness, and there was no end to this fight as there were Force-sensitive warriors fighting against each other. Therefore, Kreia used the Exile to destroy both the Sith and Jedi, to destroy their flawed Force teachings so that they could not be replicated. She also directed the Exile to the key planets of the Galaxy, so that she would create connections with them, influence other people, events and the Force itself (create new "echoes" and strengthen old ones). And in the end, she wanted to create a new echo (most likely by killing the Exile ), which through the formed connections will affect all significant places and people at once. A resonance will occur, and the whole galaxy will be covered by the echo of Malachor, killing or tearing them away from the Force. Force will no longer be able to influence the course of history. As a result, there will be no Force cults and their false teachings in the Galaxy. There will be no Force-sensitive through whom she manipulated events and incited wars. And, finally, there will be no Force itself (or it will be weakened), and the Galaxy will be able to live independently of its will. Unfortunately, this was not destined to happen.
I am reminded of Legacy of Kain: Defiance and the Elder God: "Elder God : I am the origin of life, the devourer of death. I am the hub of the Wheel, the purifying cycle to which all souls must be drawn."
Though I've always agreed with Kreia's goal and philosophy, her endgame would essentially kill everything and everyone in the universe of Star Wars. Every living thing is connected to the force. There are some non force sensitive beings, but even they are technically connected to it, just unable to utilize it. Maybe a few million or so would live in a galaxy of trillions. They would be free though of the force.
Kreia and KOTOR 2 are just perfect from a story stand-point. THIS is how you do a proper deconstruction of Star Wars. You don't turn Luke Skywalker into a hobo, you criticize what the Force actually is and how it's existence makes free will in Star Wars impossible. Whether the Force actively does this or not the galaxy is forced into a never-ending conflict between the Jedi and Sith due to its existence. The Force drives Force sensitives into extremes and slowly corrupts one's free will. The Jedi become stoic and emotionless monks while the Sith become chaotic and evil monsters. Everything that happens in Star Wars is just a backdrop for the Jedi and Sith. All that suffering and death is just so these two extremes can continually kill each other until the heat death of the universe. That's why it's called Star Wars. It's a galaxy perpetually plagued by conflict due to the existence of the Force. Kreia realized how abhorrent this is and wanted to just put an end to it.
You got most of it right but George Lucas describes the whill of the force best since he created it we shall take his understanding as gospel. The force gives free will at the same time always striving for balance. The force has no beginning and it has no end. You can either serve the whill of the force or you don't. Therefore free will exists. The force knows the outcome the world between worlds shows that time isn't exactly linear. The force created all and the force is all. The force will deem in the end what is best for the galaxy and for the universe. George was inspired by many religions. He still goes on to say he believes in something all powerful. Something that dictates yet still allows free will. Kreia doesn't understand how that works like many humans don't. For the believers of Christianity this is just life. God knows everything yet allows us to do what we want. It's not something people can understand but they still try and or try to defy it. This is how the force works. Tenebrae literally tried to make the force bend to his power but the force said No and turned him into stone and eventually to dust. You cannot go against the whill of the force. You can either serve it and become one with it or die and be forgotten.
@@fatnakedjimmyneutron that does make me question. Do The Ones of Mortis know the Force's true nature? Since the Daughter and Son are living representations of the Force and the Father knows what the Force truly is and what its will is?
I always found how amazingly this story portrayed a real philosophy. Kreia is a nihilist who see's the force or "god" as an evil entity controlling everyone, and she wishes to destroy it. She admits she hates the force, citing the lives lost in the pursuit of balance. I think its why it resonates so deeply with most who notice it even subconsciously. Kreia wants to kill god in a sense. The story is so deeply meaningful because it echos the greatest questions of humanity without us ever suspecting.
So then, if she wants to kill “god” why does the exile mean so much to her ? What does she represent? Your on to a good theory I’m just curious what you think
Everyone wanted a Han Solo film. Everyone wants an Obi-Wan Kenobi film. Even more people want a Boba Fett film. I want a Kreia film. Edit: Nevermind. Disney will screw it up.
I don't want a Kreia film. The way Kreia is now is perfect. Those Disney wankers would just ruin it just like they are pretty much ruining everythign else.
Kreia is my favorite character. Not KOTOR II character, not Star Wars character, not female character, not video game character. She is my favorite character....ever
Kreia is without a doubt one of the if not the most interesting people in star wars. This is as beautiful to me as the exile was to kreia and i will always love your work with these works of art.
The teachings of Kreia, listening to her, going through the story with her were some of the most impactful moments I've ever had playing a game. It taught the value in listening, in challenging preconceived notions. She remains one of my fav characters, and Kotor remains one of my fav series to this day.
One of the greatest and most unique Star Wars characters ever written, especially when combined with Meetra Surik. The KOTOR stories really do need be told again in the new SW canon, either through movies or brief Netflix-style shows. This needs to happen.
Personally, I agree with Cailus Griffin. A canonized series (probably written by the original authors Drew Karphysm and Michael Avallone) would be awesome. But also, I think one could start such a series much earlier, during the Mandalorian Wars. Establish the different characters early: Meetra, Malak, the unknown, mysterious Jedi who becomes known as Revan, his master Arren Kae, the Jedi Council and the young, gifted Padawan Bastila who oppose the Jedi joining the fight; the mandalorian and repulican side including Candorous, Carth and intriguing Senators... but make it cold and brutal and kill off characters for real. With the right screenwriting it could be a Star-Wars-Version of "Game of Thrones", and even if it could'nt reach the latter, I think it could be still an awesome series.
Do you wish to feel the teachings born of the Mandalorian wars? "shows Revan". That was simply so cool. A great story simply showed as nothing more than a conflict caused by the force...And the I II III did the same. Conflict without end, Kreia is so right.. Incredible video!
I think the climax of Anakin is his fight as Vader against his son. Another flight between Light and Dark, like always. Of course, this is the story that made Star Wars what it is, but when you look at the entire lore, the entire history, there is nothing special about it. Just another fight between good and evil. Across thousands of years, nothing changed, and the force still destroys everything with this conflict. And this masterpiece made by Dudu showed this in a perfect way. It also shows how deep the philosophy of Kreia runs. She understands this, and she hates the force for everything it does across time and space. Absolutely fascinating character
as for the last one, The time of the prequels are in the past, it was logical to use the most recent and present fight in the Star Wars Uiverse: The fight between the Light champion (Rey) and the Dark champion (Kylo)
Skylake sith with your logical original trilogy are also in the past and on same the level as the prequels. Rey as a light side champion ha ha she is more a dark side. She use agry, she is not calm and dont control hers emotions. kylo is more light side, he is try to control his emotions. He kill han to get rid of his emotions for his Father
I told you what the plot is, and what Disney tried to do. Don't change the subject by saying that they are failing doing so. Rey was created to be a Light champion in the new trilogy, and Kylo for darkness. That was what they should have been and still are in a little percent. Doesn't matter if Disney is failing to deliver the plot as it should be
I often feel sorry for villains, especially when they give a moving and almost redeeming final speech before they die, as Malak did, but Kreia’s death was the first one to make me shed tears. That and the fact that I’d read The Old Republic: Revan before playing KOTOR II so I knew what fate awaited the Exile and Revan.
Kreia/Arren Kae/Darth Traya is perhaps my favorite Star Wars character of all time. She expanded the knowledge of, and meaning of The Force in ways that have yet to be equaled. Rian Johnson said he wanted his Star Wars story to subvert peoples expectations, and it did, along with destroying the story in many significant ways. Through Kreia, Obsidian wrote a Star Wars story that subverted peoples expectations, but in ways that expanded the story, characters and the minds of the fans.
@@hoohag5371 Brianna is potentially only a half echani. Kae (unspecified race jedi master, and teacher of Revan) was her mother and an echani senator/general was her father, as a "near human" Species they are able to interbreed with humans. Kae as well as (or perhaps *as* )"Kreia" followed Revan into the mandalorian wars. both were exiled from the order (Kae for her motherhood, Kriea for unspecified reasons) both were presumed dead in the wars. so in short Jedi master- Both Trained Revan- Both Exiled from the Jedi- Both Presumed fallen to the dark side and dead in the Wars- Both it was never confirmed, but there is no such thing as coincidences in the force.
Do you hear, Jedi and Sith? There is no Chaos, there is Harmony they say, yet so long as there are two sides there will always be chaos. The Force will set me free they say, yet the chains they wish to break are the eternal bindings of strife, forever unbreakable. The Force is Life, Life is Conflict, and therefore, the Force must, by its very nature, be Conflict.
Cruallassar in a novella that never got the chance to be published and was meant for Legends, it is explained that The Force is an ethereal energy field made by The Supreme Creator and allows living beings to interact and always be connected to him and the Celestials. The different aspects of The Force (even wounds) are but transformations of the Cosmic Force itself. Light was introduced to the galaxy by The Daughter. Darkness was introduced by The Son. And neutral or balanced use of The Force is what comprised of The Father. Jedi and Sith only escalated the expansion of The Dark Side and Light Side energies into The Galaxy. Nightsister Magick is a twisted but actual form of The Force. The same goes for all mystical powers that beings use across the Galaxy. It is all The Force, and in all ways, it brings forth and takes life. And in the end, The Supreme Creator and Celestials stay connected with us...

She is a tragic character. She learned all that there is about the Jedi and understood they were lacking in their understanding of the Force. She became a Sith to learn more about the Force only to learn that the Sith were also lacking, yet in the end she understood the Force manipulated the whole Star Wars Universe so she wanted to sever the Galaxy of the Force, but the Force brought Exile on her way and Kreia lost, and so did her teachings...
It is sad. But her teachings led to the fact that the Exile became a real Jedi who was able to raise a generation of Jedi who were able to destroy Valkorion, who wanted to absorb the entire universe altogether.
They dont make games like this anymore. Once obsidian was famous for taking an established IP and turning it upside down, introducing players to new ideas and viewpoints, not just for the game world but for real life as well. I hope someone will continue this type of development.
Avellone has a nasty habit of trashing anything he doesn't come up with. Its honstely kinda hacky and KOTOR 2 is one of the first examples of giving people who hate something the reigns to write it.
@@patrickflying17 Turns out that some people have the necessary talent to make it properly. Avellone and people at Obsidian back then had that talent. But it's a rare talent that necessitates one to fully understand and respect the source material before trying to subvert it. Most people who try that and fail just did not have the intelligence of actually engaging with the source material before disrespecting it.
That last shot of the Ebon Hawk leaving Malachor V always gives me the most intense chills. The pure nostalgia. All those years. To have a precious few of them back
"To believe in an ideal is to be willing to betray it" What's your favorite quote from Kreia ? You guys asked for this tribute for years so here it is . This is all I can do from 14 years old game. Hope you enjoy. May the force Serve you well!
"You see, the war, true war has never been one waged by droids, or warships, or soldiers. They are but crude matter, obstacles against which we test ourselves. The true war is waged in the hearts of all living things, against our own natures, light or dark. That is what shapes and binds this galaxy, not this creations of man. You are the battleground." A bit too long but fair even in real life
I want to point out 3 things in this video. I. The Exile knew she made a mistake, and wanted to change, to be better next time she faces a similar challenge. The Jedi tried to represent Order and Permanence, this is why they denyed this from her, they had the Illusion they have kept it. (Btw my favorite line from Kreia is "I didn't kill Atris, I just stripped away the illusions which were holding her together.") II. By this the Exile turned away from a power that is not her own. For me, this is denying your mistakes (and by this, make yourself feel better) and in a wider sense boosting your Ego to make yourself feel better. In the end, these are lies and illusions, which are weakening your spirit. III. "There is only you." The Forceless and simple world was enough for the Exile. She didn't wanted to boost her Ego, Life as it was was good enought for her. And it is truly a hard choice. Not beliving in Prophecies and Mysteries, just say Life is good as it is, and worth fighting for (Even If you didn't find eternal connection in the Force after your death.)
Kreia is one of the most fascinating and complex characters even created in Star Wars. She was the first Star Wars character I knew of who completely discarded the simplistic, bi-polar light/dark dichotomy that you usually find in Star Wars.
"I would have killed the galaxy to preserve you" "I would have let the galaxy die" At the end of a long life Kreia gave her hopes and dreams of a galaxy free from the will of the force to the exile, which the exile quickly threw in the trash by reestablishing the Jedi order and restarting the cycle of violence. Thanks SWTOR!
A great fan made movie!!! It is beautiful how even after 14 years production, the echoes of this Star Wars lore still vibrates through all corners of the galaxy. Kreia and the Exile will always be two jedi loved in our hearts
Its such a damn shame that TOR and The Revan Novel disregarded so much of KOTOR 2's philosophy and lore. The Exile could have been so much more than what she was made into, as could Revan.
I. Th. What you said is not necessarily a good thing. If characterisation sucks (and it does) then it is worse than nothing. KOTOR 2 does excellent job at fleshing out The Force and all the philosophy that is based around it. While it leaves Revan's motivations mostly unclear by only defining his/her methods and overarching goal that does a better job at creating a compelling legendary character than any of the TOR or novel bullshit. When it comes to storytelling what you are not told is even more important than what you are told. KOTOR 2 took to heart "size doesn't matter" mantra. The truly terrifying manifestations of The Force were left outside of game mechanic, were never quantified and were reached through application of particular ideology and through deeper understanding of the ideas that are core to those ideologies. Novel and TOR is just brain-dead power wank. The True Sith are powerful because they are strong in the Force not because they follow a particular ideology that makes them so strong in the Force in a particular way. They both mechanize the Force, make it less a reflection of all life and so a reflection of the ideals and thoughts of that life and more of an extra limb that can interact with the world in an unique way. It is crude and boring. It diminishes what KOTOR 2 did with the Force and so it would be better off not existing at all.
I named my newborn daughter Kreia. Chris Avallone masterfully wrote Kreia as a critique of Star Wars and with that created the single best character in the entire universe. Thank you for this video.
I JUST realized why I love Kreia so much. She's cryptic, knowledgable, and always teaching you new things that you didn't know you were unaware of and encouraging you to challenge what you already believe in. Just like a master of the force is to their apprentice. The Exile wasn't the learner, the player was.
"There is no truth in the force" That sentence alone tells you all about Kreia. Placing faith in a thing that cannot be seen or heard by all, has the gall to control all life. To control someone's destiny. She realized that the force must die to prevent even greater tradgies all in the name of something only a select few can feel, as Malgus said, to be horded by the Jedi, and denying it's knowledge to others. The Sith did the excat same thing, leaving the average person in the dark to be sacraficed. It's a good parallel to Christianity.
The only key difference is we have a choice to make of our own will. To evolve with the knowledge that the force must not be allowed to control us. To evolve into something greater than before, to share knowledge, rather then perpetuate ignorance.
Yes, very well said. Whereas christanity is offered to the masses, only a select few, chosen not by fate or the will of god, but the will of a few old men. Im sure thats the parrarel they were shooting for with "So you do nothing? Apathy is death" in refrence to the fact we all know this, but choose to do nothing to change it.
Absolutely fantastic, especially given the limited clips and lines available due to Traya being in only one game. Traya/Kreia is by far one of the most complex and thought-provoking characters in Star Wars - so glad she finally has a tribute!
As a wise man once said, “The greatest Star Wars film was the one that was never made: Knight of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords.” What👏A👏Masterpiece👏
1:53 The feeling of revelation that comes after seeing the pattern of repetition. The Star Wars galaxy is stuck in a constant loop of violence, death & destruction. All because of the force is striving for some kind of balance that it never achieves.
It really is an interesting concept of "The Force is Evil." Just look at what it did to gain balance against Palpatine. A galactic civil war. The eradication of the Jedi Order. Decades of Sith oppression across the galaxy. All just to kill one man.
I am alive for 26 years and i can literally say after watching thousands upon thousands of videos, movies, etc that this video will stay with me until the day i die!!
I fear Disney would mess it up - but, if they managed to... ... A genuine reboot of Star Wars, but movies set in the old republic. Starting with Revans story, passing on to his defeat, then, The Exiles story, Revans redemption, and finally, the epic confrontation with the Emperor of the Sith. What an epic set of movies they would be.

Andrew Port It looks cool but as it is Fan project it will take many, many more years until its finished and could be by any moment shut down by Lucasflim/EA.
Misdirected passion deemed with foolish self-righteousness. Jedis are weak in their way of letting the force control them. They think they understand it yet Kreia was the only one who understood what the force really is. It binds a force sensitive and turns one into either an emotionless husk or a mad man
And yet, there were those who could find the balance between the two. Kreia wasn't wrong, but I don't think she was entirely right either. Then again, in her last moments, the Dark Side had physically corrupted her so much that perhaps it did indeed cloud her judgement as well. I think it's all about perspective and Kreia had a very nihilistic view on things. She glimpsed the truth through that narrow nihilistic view but maybe she didn't quite grasp the full scope of it. Kreia always seemed to have hate and despair in her heart. Quite possibly, she broke her vows as a Jedi and became a mother only to lose her child. That, or something similar, could cause her to lose faith in the Force and even see it as evil. It could also explain the way she viewed Meetra, seeing her as a replacement for the child she lost.
L0L L0L L7L it is actually quite likely that Brianna, the Handmaiden, is Kreia's daughter. There are things that suggest that Kreia is Arren Kae. She is not nihilistic, she is desperate. In her view the Force is a slaver and she is a slave. And not even death would free her. The only living entity in the entire Galaxy that she knew about that was free of the Force was the Exile. Imagine this: you are convinced that the entire Galaxy worth of living beings, including you and everyone you ever cared about, are enslaved by an utterly alien, unimaginably powerful and incomprehensible will that will not release its grip even in case of death while breaking away from that grip means certain death. And there is a single being that managed to survive being freed from it. On one hand you have the fact that you and everyone you know will be slaves until the end of time and on another you have this proof that it is possible to be free. She is not nihilistic. Nihilism comes from losing all hope. She has hope. And hope is the most wonderful and the most terrible thing you can have.
Hell, the way she described her interactions with Revan and how they coalesce with what the Jedi masters say, is it at all possible that she ISN'T Arren Kae? The only thing that didn't quite line up is that the very earliest Kae could have left for the Mandalorian Wars is 21 years before KOTOR 2 starts. Just based on her character designs and descriptions of her given by other characters, it doesn't quite line up, but this was also speculation on behalf of the characters, with the most insightful being Brianna, who didn't have many details to begin with and looked to be in her early-to-mid twenties by the time the story starts, which does line up with the rest of the story, but Kreia does not look like she would have been of birthing age even twenty years prior. TL:DR - Canonically, it's very likely that Kreia is Arren Kae, but it just doesn't match up terribly well with the character designs. Take a few wrinkles off, change her hair from white to grey, and now you're getting somewhere.
TK481 The Force is a powerful and terrible thing. It is not unlikely that her expertise allowed her to stave off her age while she was an Archivist but that age caught up to her after she fell.
100% Star Wars its not apathy to dislike the video, it instead shows that they care. I disliked this video too, cause it fails to represent Kreias teachings. Also, "Apathy is death, worse then death" wasnt said by Kreia herself, but by the image of her projected and perverted by the dark side force nexus on Corriban. And it also isnt true. Apathy leads to lack of action, but sometimes lack of action is better then any action you can take at that moment. Apathy is wrong, but lack of action is an action too, and it isnt wrong by itself. Apathy is a lack of reason, motivation to do something, lack of care for something and it leads to a lack of action, but lack of action for a reason is not apathy and can be a better choise then any other action you can take in some situations.
When you divest the gameplay aspects and just focus on Kreia's teachings , everything starts to make sense. It isn't about the Light Side or the Dark Side but about the involvement of a un-quantifiable power and its effect on all those who inhabit the galaxy.
"do you wish to feel the teachings born of the mandalorian wars? Of all wars! Of all tragedies that scream across the galaxy!? Let me show you! Who have forever seen the galaxy through the FORCE!! See it through the eyes of the EXILE!!!" Such a bad ass line
"I know many things and I know what I am not. I am no Leader. I speak with a voice that will never move others. I speak with a passion that goes unheard..." - Kreia The one thing she was wrong about.
this video is an absolute MASTERPIECE. i am so honored to have stumbled upon this kotor video. the music, the voiceover, the edits, the philosophy all do such tremendous credit to kotor ii, and the exile, as she is due. thank you so much for this outstanding work. i cannot thank you enough for adding this slice of perfection to the best game - and best character - of all time. :)
"And know that that is the true lesson of strength: to turn away from strength that is not your own. You are beautiful to me, exile." Kreia and the Exile are the best, most thoughtful Star Wars character ever conceived.
Just under a year since this amazing piece was gifted to the world. It is still one of my most watched videos. Your videos are beautiful to me Dudufilm. Keep it up!!
Kreia is way wiser than Yoda. Yoda got a facile mind compared to her. Disney should consider to lean over on the Old Republic and Kreia rather than label them all as legends.
if Yoda wasnt so bound by the force and the ways of the Jedi, he would have become something along the lines of Kreia, esp if he noticed too how much the events start to repeat itself.
@@Evilriku13 Nope. There is nothing ever suggesting that. Yoda lived in exile and nothing changed up until his last breath. Kreia was also in jedi order.
I would have killed the galaxy to preserve you... I would have let the galaxy die... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 It gives me chills through my whole body every time I hear this... So powerful 💙
i remember when i first played it. and when i heard that for the first time at the end of the game i felt it. it was like she was talking to me you know)
I have thought of this moment, more than you know. And I wondered, if here, at this ending between us, if you would care enough to try to save me - if you could find it within yourself to spare one who has fallen so far. I wanted you to say those words - for that I am grateful.
The fact that most of this game's replay value comes from revisiting Kreia's dialogue sections and discovering new shades of meaning in her inflection is something I think about a lot. The voice work alone makes K2 legendary; LA's choice to release it as an unfinished product was a crime against humanity.

my goodness, this video is SO. My God. This random youtube recommend quickly become one of my favourite videos on youtube. Obsidian created a trully wonderful game, and by my opinion also the best and deepest story in Star Wars general. Astonishing video, I love it !
I wish Obsidian actually had the time to really complete the game. Because as great as Kreia was, you're never really given the opportunity to apply her teachings to her beliefs. One of her most important teachings is that you shouldn't blindly put idea on a pedestal, that if you truly believe in something, you should be willing to challenge it and test it. But you rarely have an opportunity to do that with Kreia's beliefs. There aren't many instances where you can make a choice she doesn't like and challenge her on her belief. And in the instances where you can challenge her, the choices are very simplistic where you just stick to your opinion and reject her teaching.
My second favorite Star Wars character of all time, behind Revan. She is so complex, so mysterious, so interesting. You could spend a thousand years discussing Kreia and never run out of things to talk about.

For people who complain about Rey being in a video . Here is the long explanation:
The entire video revolves around number 3 . Video is 3:33 long.
Kreia sees the future in 3 acts . Specifically how history repeats itself.
3 examples are shown . 3 Hero journeys .
Video itself is made with a 3 act structure (Just like most of my the other videos)
Act I from 0 - 1:13 Act II 1:14 - 2:02 Act III 2:03-2:51
Act I is a hero introduction. Act II is the journey. Act III is the final confrontation.
Just as in the game or movies etc so in this video .
As Kreia herself is a self aware of their own story and how she is that final confrontation.
She says sadly "and there must always be a darth Traya , galaxy needs it's betrayers"
Malak=betrayer Vader= betrayer Kylo=Betrayer (Kreia=Betrayer) As all are shown
If I'd use Anakin instead of Rey , i would break the the classic 3 act hero journey structure. Showing Anakin-Ship-Anakin- and no explosion
(There is no big explosion to finish it up just like with others ((and little anakin blowing up that SIS ship in Phantom menace is not a big deal for the future fate of the galaxy.)) .
May the force serve you well

well i mean...
@LordMIGtau haha

Stormtrooper 056 Thank you (my good sir/madam) I thought we were going to have a gender fight /war on equality.
I like how Kreia doesn't advocate the selflessness of the Jedi or the selfishness of the Sith, but instead tries to instil the importance of Choice. Condemning one who submits to either extreme and instead praising those who make their own path and stay true to themselves.
At least that's how I see it.
But what about dis:
"An open hand can cause as much damage as a closed fist"
Kreia litarly says helping people denies them the strength gained from facing a conflict to find oneself, or fins yourself lacking.
Your quote is "be careful of charity or kindness, lest you do more harm with an open hand then a closed fist."
She's saying don't be nice for the sake of being nice.
*That’s my answer.*

You have heard but you have not listened.
" To be united by hatred is a fragile alliance at best. " This sums up our world in my opinion.

Is a lie: as she can never follow her own beliefs herself...and projects them...
Onto you. Ironically, her apathy was continuing to use The Force secretly as a Sith: all the while preacing: the goal to existence, was to live withut it.
As the game showed: Kreia's apathy with giving up the force: twisted her into a madwoman: who sought out a exile to train:
So kreia could defeat the inner philosophy of the Sith: she couldnt let go.
Il'ich there are so many things wrong with this statement.
"As you would pass judgement on her, I have come to pass judgement on you all."
Such an intimidating line...
I hope for a remake.
Well, that's now all thrown out of the window because of the lame explanation that it was Vitiate who turned Revan and Malak to the dark side.
@Jakub Perhaps not. It seemed to me that Vitiate WAS the greater evil, and that if Revan and Malak had been able to escape and report what they discovered to the Republic, that it could've caused the Sith to move sooner. Then again, perhaps this also could've worked in the Republic's favor.
the same with Darth Caedus
darthridick77 what about darth caedus
@@Crimson_Titan Beautifully explained! Saved me the trouble, kudos!
Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
I am reminded of Legacy of Kain: Defiance and the Elder God:
"Elder God : I am the origin of life, the devourer of death.
☝️☝️☝️ that vs "Somehow Palpatine returned"
Yes, but actually, the Force does make free will possible(At least in the EU); that's one of the final thoughts of kotor 2.

One of the greatest and most unique Star Wars characters ever written, especially when combined with Meetra Surik. The KOTOR stories really do need be told again in the new SW canon, either through movies or brief Netflix-style shows. This needs to happen.
Chris Avellone and Drew Karpyshyn can be hired to write another great story still )
Disney would just ruin it. Leave it in the EU where it will remain pure.
Original games remake would be better. if it is just graphics and gamplay update but story and choices left as it was. And make them Cannon
Cailus Griffin No thanks. It's perfect as it is. The new stuff is undeserving of this story.
1 2 3 thing was cool but the last one need to show the prequels( anakin)
Few characters in Star Wars franchise deserve a tribute as much as Kreia. Amazing as always.
Maciek Ciepły Apathy is death.
Isnt arren kae someone else? Arren kae is supposed to be handmaiden's mother. Kreia is not even the same species as brianna.
@@hoohag5371 Brianna is potentially only a half echani. Kae (unspecified race jedi master, and teacher of Revan) was her mother and an echani senator/general was her father, as a "near human" Species they are able to interbreed with humans.
Kae as well as (or perhaps *as* )"Kreia" followed Revan into the mandalorian wars. both were exiled from the order (Kae for her motherhood, Kriea for unspecified reasons) both were presumed dead in the wars.
so in short
Jedi master- Both
Trained Revan- Both
Exiled from the Jedi- Both
Presumed fallen to the dark side and dead in the Wars- Both
it was never confirmed, but there is no such thing as coincidences in the force.
I feel like you'd get aling swimmingly with Darth Malgus lol
Cruallassar a woman driven by her own destructive losses
@@blackshogun272 Huh. What cancelled novel was that?

Kreia is essentially Chris Avellone giving the middle finger to the story cycle of Star Wars.
That's just good writing right there.
To have a precious few of them back
Heh. I see what you did there.
This is honestly one of the best things I have ever watched. Kreia is, imo, the wisest character in the whole star wars universe!
"To believe in an ideal is to be willing to betray it"
What's your favorite quote from Kreia ?
You guys asked for this tribute for years so here it is . This is all I can do from 14 years old game.
Hope you enjoy.
May the force Serve you well!
"It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it."
Apathy is death
DuduFilm "If you are to truly understand, then you will need the contrast, not adherence to a single idea."
"Plans are fragile things, and life often dashes expectations to the ground."
(Btw my favorite line from Kreia is "I didn't kill Atris, I just stripped away the illusions which were holding her together.")
II.
"I would have killed the galaxy to preserve you"
"I would have let the galaxy die"
At the end of a long life Kreia gave her hopes and dreams of a galaxy free from the will of the force to the exile, which the exile quickly threw in the trash by reestablishing the Jedi order and restarting the cycle of violence. Thanks SWTOR!
The force won.
"I have come to pass judgement on you all."
A woman with true power is a terrifying sight...
*Looks at image of Ysaane Isard*
A great fan made movie!!! It is beautiful how even after 14 years production, the echoes of this Star Wars lore still vibrates through all corners of the galaxy. Kreia and the Exile will always be two jedi loved in our hearts
Its such a damn shame that TOR and The Revan Novel disregarded so much of KOTOR 2's philosophy and lore. The Exile could have been so much more than what she was made into, as could Revan.
dreadrath That's why I ignore them :P
Exactly! I hate what Bioware did.
I'll fix that in my novelization.
I can only imagine the time when Disney will crawl back to the old canon, begging for mercy and hoping mistakes still can be fixed.
I'm convinced that we live in a timeline where Kreia killed the force.
It is like watching a piece of art.... Only that this piece of art gives you goosebumps and the desire to watch more.
I named my newborn daughter Kreia. Chris Avallone masterfully wrote Kreia as a critique of Star Wars and with that created the single best character in the entire universe. Thank you for this video.
She will betray you
@@thebiglich I am sure she is expecting it. And she will be ready.
My oh my, this is brilliant. I was wondering where all these views I'm suddenly getting was coming from. I have you to thank, my good man.
*All hail Lord Revan* in the background. Awesome!
Kreia is *the* best Star Wars character ever created.
Kreia is the best Star Wars female character ever in my opinion
I doubt that another woman can be as better than Kreia
I JUST realized why I love Kreia so much. She's cryptic, knowledgable, and always teaching you new things that you didn't know you were unaware of and encouraging you to challenge what you already believe in. Just like a master of the force is to their apprentice. The Exile wasn't the learner, the player was.
how can disney not see the massive potential of this. this is art.
you're so right
I think i may be allergic to this. My eyes gets all watery...
Tacoman Apathy is death.
I would of killed the galaxy to preserve this channel, I would of let the galaxy die.
1:40 resonates every time
"You have made a strange choice, a unique choice. And know that that is the true lesson of strength, to turn away from strength that is not your own."
As a wise man once said, “The greatest Star Wars film was the one that was never made: Knight of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords.”
What👏A👏Masterpiece👏
That was amazing! Always worth the wait for your videos!
Kreia made us doubt our preconceptions to seek out the ever illusive truth. But there is a simply truth I have come across. This is a masterpiece.
They should do both KOTOR as remastered. Just new graphics and leave everything as it was. I Would spent any amout they would ask for it!!
I like the old version, the bad graphics give it that rustic Star Wars feel.
Imagine this game remastered, as you say, by Quantic Dream studio (the one that made Detroit: Become Human).
Comrad Disc they would nailed it visualy but not sure about combat. The old combat system is bit dated. It needs clever Developer who would improve combat while kept feel of the original
This is in progress. Search Star Wars Apeiron.

It looks cool but as it is Fan project it will take many, many more years until its finished and could be by any moment shut down by Lucasflim/EA.
Misdirected passion deemed with foolish self-righteousness. Jedis are weak in their way of letting the force control them. They think they understand it yet Kreia was the only one who understood what the force really is. It binds a force sensitive and turns one into either an emotionless husk or a mad man
Sandeepan Das | Kreia showed that both the Jedi and Sith were wrong.
5 Apathetic people disliked this masterpiece.
They ded
100% Star Wars god, now they’re six...
Apathy, is dead
100% Star Wars Apathy is death.
Huh... How many times have I watched this now?
Still not enough. Never enough
The mix of Kreia's passion with this masterpiece shakes my being
Kreia is like if someone sought to kill God. What a task she set herself on.
Every time I feel lost about Star Wars I listen to this.
Yes. It's my favorite tribute.
I speak with a passion that goes unheard..." - Kreia
The one thing she was wrong about.
To truly believe in something, means to be ready to betray it.

"And yet, the world refused to change..."
And yet....nobody came..

Kreia was also in jedi order.

i remember when i first played it. and when i heard that for the first time at the end of the game i felt it. it was like she was talking to me you know)
I have thought of this moment, more than you know.
The voice work alone makes K2 legendary; LA's choice to release it as an unfinished product was a crime against humanity.
kreia..a tutor scorned by those whom needed her insights the most..
treasured by those whom she despised...
a student cherished by those few whom would need to slake her life to learn all she hade to give..

Every now and again I have to watch this video. The editing, the music, the character herself, all of this is perfection. I am not a guy that comments in videos, barely if not at all, but yours was worthy of this comment, my friend. Keep up the great work. This is the kind of content that hits one at their core.
My God. This random youtube recommend quickly become one of my favourite videos on youtube. Obsidian created a trully wonderful game, and by my opinion also the best and deepest story in Star Wars general. Astonishing video, I love it !
I just keep rewatching it. Hypes me up every time.
And in the instances where you can challenge her, the choices are very simplistic where you just stick to your opinion and reject her teaching.
they have done enough and there are plenty of opportunities to apply her teachings
My second favorite Star Wars character of all time, behind Revan. She is so complex, so mysterious, so interesting. You could spend a thousand years discussing Kreia and never run out of things to talk about.
I would love a series on Kreia's journey and story.
Amazing as always, can't get enough of your work Dudu. I think all Star Wars fans can appreciate these videos.
