(Galatians 6:1-10)
I wonder if Dr. MacArthur thinks Steve Lawson is saved today or was saved during his ministry time? Based on MacArthur's theology, I would assume he would say he was not a "genuine" or "true" believer? Does anyone know if he has answered that specific question?
We can be perfect, when we die to self. Christ was and still is perfect. His perfection should shine through. I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. Steve Lawson was living in the flesh, and not the Spirit. A Romans 7 Christian, and not a Romans 8 Christian. Knowledge only gets you so far in this walk. You must utterly die to self. By their fruit, ye shall know them. SL gave off the impression of pride at times. Pride of position, accomplishment, etc. I sensed it oftentimes while listening to some of his sermons, and now it all makes sense.
"distinguishing between spirits", is a gift listed between prophecy and tongues - Lawson was in this relationship for 5 years, it was not 'perceived" by the leadership, and he didn't come forth and reveal it - he was caught by the woman's father.
How do you preach past your conscience? I have never been able to put it into words, but this is a question I have had for many, many years. No leader is perfect, but to stand up and preach against the VERY thing you are doing is hard to grasp. To preach love, when you meter out harsh words and rejection without ever TALKING to the person ...... I do not get it.
Even while talking about Lawson's sin, they have to bring in Hillsong, Bethel, Elevation, etc. It is hell on earth for a Calvinist to deal with one of their own falling.
Salvation has Nothing to do with the way we live. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,” I Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV Not works Not “repenting of sin” which is just a fancy way to say follow the law Not going to church Not getting baptized Not giving your life to Jesus Not following Jesus He gave HIS life for you JUST believe in what he did for you
John mixed up the churches. It was the church with truth had left their first love that lost the lamp stand. They were so focused on truth they lost sight of Jesus Himself.
How is it gracious? He blames God for corrupting the church and then states how it's a good thing because now he is purifying it. That's blasphemous. It is alleged that the relationship took place on the GCC campus for years. Many went to the elders complaining but because Steve was a favorite of John, they were ignored. The elders, again, looked the other way and retaliated against those who made reports. In time we'll know the truth, but please understand, this is rehearsed. It's a PR nightmare. GCC allowed another adulterous affair go on by one of his leaders/professors. This is nothing new.
@roguecalvinist Calvinism is anti-Christian, and God will lead anyone out of it. It's up to the individual to follow. This stuff is a cult. No, it's not Christian, and RC Sproul, James White, Steven Lawson, John MacArthur, and John Piper are satanic. The worst of all is that piece of human white trash Josh Kuipers, and a parent would be a fool to have his or her child in his youth ministry.
How about go to the King James Bible and let the Lord Jesus Christ tell you himself what the truth is. All this sitting down and letting the philosopher tell you how the situation is going. Let God tell you!
I agree the KJV isn't the only reliable Bible. To say so does a disservice to your own KJV. Any good student knows that when in deep study you don't just use English translations but also the original language. The KJV isn't perfect. Period. The NKJV, ESV, NASB, and LSB are great. And better for some. So keep your tribalism out of the Church.
I don't know if his condition has changed his position on these issues, but when Ravi Zacharias was accused, the predators came out, J Mac along with Alistar Begg were quick to condemn him in a very harsh way without any grace that he seems to have for Lawson. I just wished people would've looked more into his investigators Miller & Martin ant-Christian biasness & corruption history before anyone concluded a scandal. I get it, "Me Too" was a monster at that time, but it's still no excuse destroy a dead man's legacy especially when he can't defend himself. As J Mac put it well at the conclusion, so Chuck Swindoll would say "we need more grace"!
First, obviously, when your friend or family member is the transgressor, you are going to be more gracious in your denunciations. It is more difficult to call out people you love. That's not a bad thing. Second, Ravi had more problems than just the moral issues that came to light later. I started listening to Ravi daily for a while years ago. After about 2 months I figured out that while he had some good stories and illustrations, he was not really providing anything in the way of a deeper understanding of anything. Ravi was a great speaker, but everything was an appeal to emotion, even though it appeared he was speaking from intellect. Did you ever see him at a Shepherd's Conference? That is no accident. I do think that the Grace Church gang often has a lack of compassion for people who are hurting unless they are an accepted friend. That's not really a good look is it? But clearly they have denounced Steve Lawson as should have been done because JM is right, people like Julie Roy's puppet pals will use this to come after people who stand for the Word.
@@greg54444 I agree much of what you said, Ravi did use emotion to sway listeners, but that was what made him so loved and accepted and loved by many, mixed with some intellect (he didn't want to speak above anybody) I have a few of his books and I've listened to many of his talks and stories which was rhetorical at times, but I was ok with that, he came across as one who was very gracious and that is what I think we all need more of. I feel like because Ravi wasn't a Calvinist, and that he spoke against it, he was a marked man by the determinist camp, but they never go after genius's like John Lennox for his position, maybe they'll wait until he passes to say anything. I'll have to go back and find the Shephard's conference one and see if I've heard or watched that one before....
@@JohnGodwin777 We can attach "manipulation, exploiting and abusing women to Lawson just the same and even to J Mac ask Julie Royce, but we have to look at why and who is reporting and who his investigating and the facts surrounding these people. Many of us are lazy and just accept what we're being told but bottom line is that people are dishonest and biased in so many ways, and secularists even more so, just to beat someone down especially when you're an esteemed person in the Christian circle. I'm not denying Ravi may had a moment where he slipped, that could possibly be, but I don't believe it was as much as Miller and Martin made it out to be, especially knowing their background and in conversing with Ravi's son. Ravi had a bad back and lo "T" for a long time for me to believe the allegations especially when weighing it against his character. Miller and Martin has a history of fraudulent misrepresentation, and much of the "facts" they used to destroy Ravi's image, which worked wonders especially in the heat of the "me too" movement. I often wonder how many allegations would be dropped against people if there were consequences to them.
@@greg54444 having differing standards for someone you are close to and someone you aren’t close to is indeed a bad thing. Proverbs 24:23 NKJV These things also belong to the wise: It is not good to show partiality in judgment. Perhaps you meant to just point out that we are all susceptible to it? That may be so, but it doesn’t make it “not bad”.
I appreciate MacArthur… I think the Calvinism is underlying problem that will never be addressed … dead orthodoxy is what happened to Lawson.. he was so right…that he was dead right
Mac believes God predetermined Lawson and his sin, and that God is glorified by it. Baloney. I guess Lawson was a great Calvinist but not that good of a Christian. He dropped the "P" of TULIP and never persevered.
If we're going to judge an adulterous person as disqualified for ministry based on the law, none of these guys are qualified for ministry, even Macarthur himself, since Christ raised the bar to include even the thought of lust to be adultery. The arrogance of these calvinist (& arminian for that matter) lordship salvationist leaders are glaring. For anyone to think they can live up to any of this is pure arrogance. For anybody to say any other person is disqualified for ministry is hypocrisy.
We can say if someone is not qualified by knowing Scripture. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 "This saying is trustworthy: “If anyone aspires to be an overseer, he desires a noble work.” An overseer, therefore, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not an excessive drinker, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy. He must manage his own household competently and have his children under control with all dignity. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a new convert, or he might become conceited and incur the same condemnation as the devil. Furthermore, he must have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he does not fall into disgrace and the devil’s trap."
I can't see what JMac is trying to say here! He says the church in Smyrna was done but here he says his Grace Community Church is not done but is being purified. It just goes to show that your theology has nothing to do with sinful actions. JMac thinks that he's got a great discernment in choosing who preaches at his pulpit. He doesn't think that he's just a normal human who's capable of being deceived. Further, he doesn't talk about what Jesus means in Mat5:28, when He says even a lustful thought is as good as the actual adulterous act. If he believed Jesus' words, he'd have known that most guys preaching at Grace Com Church would not be fit to preach. But the true Christian born-again redeemed child of God knows that his qualification to encourage another to love & good works, doesn't come from his sinning less righteousness, but from the imputed righteousness of Christ & the permanent anointing of God's Spirit!
1Tim3 v2-12... We are all sinners, fact. But if you are to be serious with Jesus-Christ as a Pastor, you need to be right in your life cuz you will be an example for all to see. Mal 2v16 Also read Tite1v6 and review your comment... Maybe your position will change, as it should

Please, stop, repent now, God has no pleasure in fools.
Mr ravi, there are some sins which are seriously counts to disqualify a pastor, whoever they are it doesn't matter. It's not about the truth of imputation but it's about obedience to the pastoral qualifications that are in the Bible. We love steve but we should accept that the reality of the discipline done to a pastor also a love towards God and care towards steve.
What he said about Smyrna and Laodicea is completely extra-biblical. This is just the tip of the iceberg. He teaches many things that reveals his carnality. He does not understand Christ and what Christ came to teach us.
This guy is really something, though. Think about what he's saying about his church and his camp having such a hold on the actual truth. All that talk is really gross and it's guised in piety. All the other is okay. Typical Johnny Mac.
So horrible. Such gaslighting. He takes no responsibility. No apologies. You help hire a robber. They rob your friends. And you are like .. well .. it happens. Absolutely disgusting. If this doesn’t humble a man, I don’t see how he is not calloused to the Holy Spirit.
Thank you Lord for your faithful servant pastor John MacArthur who has edified your people and whose faithful proclamation of your Word has led many to faith in Your beloved Son Jesus Christ.
Exposed? It’s not a secret dummy. If you don’t believe in Calvinism, fine. You think you would have chosen Jesus if God didn’t first choose you? Well, then I guess you’re just a better person than me and the apostle Paul.
"Sound Doctrine"???? Are you kidding? MacArthur, you are in the same boat. You preach a version of God, that is unlike Christ. Don't you get it? Your doctrine is NOT sound either. You have become so ANTICHRIST in your theology that it makes me angry. Wake up Church!!!! Return to the revelation of Christ. He fully revealed His Father to us.
If I might clarify my question. Steven Lawson and John MacArthur very well might be a type of AntiChrist. There are several key things that they me are missing about Jesus. I was just curious about the commentor’s perspective.
He talks about theology. Johns theology is that God ordained ,decreed and literally caused lawsons sin. You can dance around it,but that is what he teaches.
What happens that God doesn’t ordain? Lawson is responsible for his sin just as the people who crucified Christ were, even though it was God who ordained that Jesus would be crucified.
Just heartbreaking. You can feel John's pain and sadness for his friend.
This is a sobering reminder that we all need to keep ourselves accountable and vigilant.

6 "Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For each one shall bear his own load. 6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith." (Galatians 6:1-10)

I don't understand why the emphasis is on the impact upon Grace Church rather than Lawson's sin's impact upon his own church.
A lot of people have been lying in wait to go after John MacArthur. You will see soon enough.
Lawson was a Professor at Masters Seminary.
I wonder if Dr. MacArthur thinks Steve Lawson is saved today or was saved during his ministry time? Based on MacArthur's theology, I would assume he would say he was not a "genuine" or "true" believer? Does anyone know if he has answered that specific question?
Good point
Can't be involved with these mega churches, so much evil!!
Can you tell me where is the original q&a session?

"distinguishing between spirits", is a gift listed between prophecy and tongues - Lawson was in this relationship for 5 years, it was not 'perceived" by the leadership, and he didn't come forth and reveal it - he was caught by the woman's father.

Some say..... therefore "Lawson was never really saved?"
This sin affects the whole body as one can hear how it has affected Pastor John.
(1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)
How do you preach past your conscience? I have never been able to put it into words, but this is a question I have had for many, many years. No leader is perfect, but to stand up and preach against the VERY thing you are doing is hard to grasp. To preach love, when you meter out harsh words and rejection without ever TALKING to the person ...... I do not get it.
I still can't believe that about Steven lawson what next? John macarthur becomes Catholic?
MacArthur becoming Catholic... that caused me to spit out my coffee. 😂
@JohnFromSC 😂
What is someone who isn't his homeboy, does something like this?
Even while talking about Lawson's sin, they have to bring in Hillsong, Bethel, Elevation, etc.
It is hell on earth for a Calvinist to deal with one of their own falling.
So true. Great catch
Salvation has Nothing to do with the way we live.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,”
I Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV

Not “repenting of sin” which is just a fancy way to say follow the law
Not going to church
Not getting baptized
Not giving your life to Jesus
Not following Jesus

JUST believe in what he did for you
Steve Lawson's church should discipline him by making him listen to steve lawson sermons
Calvinism is not sound doctrine. Praise God He set me free from it
Maybe it was the devil that deluded you that you thinking you were set free?
Andrew-- not a chance, and you'd better be careful what you say because Calvinism is demonic.
God setting you free from Calvinism is not even consistent with anti-calvinism

How about you grow up and knock it off with the KJB stuff.
Now what did you say about Ravi again? Was JM’s answer ego-centric?
Why are these people laughing? Is it a joke? You find it funny?
They didn’t find it funny - they find it obvious.
Settle down biggen.
I agree whole hearted. Something was not quite right about it.
Proverbs 24:23 NKJV
These things also belong to the wise: It is not good to show partiality in judgment.
Perhaps you meant to just point out that we are all susceptible to it? That may be so, but it doesn’t make it “not bad”.
I appreciate MacArthur… I think the Calvinism is underlying problem that will never be addressed … dead orthodoxy is what happened to Lawson.. he was so right…that he was dead right
Or just maybe it's reaping what you sowed...
Mac believes God predetermined Lawson and his sin, and that God is glorified by it. Baloney. I guess Lawson was a great Calvinist but not that good of a Christian. He dropped the "P" of TULIP and never persevered.
Is Lawson a member of Grace Church ?
No he is not !
He taught at Master's Seminary, Expository Teaching. Was Dean of their Dr. Of Divinity program and preached frequently at Grace

no mercy for Steve ?
It's in the Bible dear heart look it up.
This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.
Maybe your position will change, as it should
Are you attacking John MacArthur? Are you attacking Grace Community Church? Sounds like a spirit of division to me.
T. Ravicumar, Proverbs 10:18. Whoever conceals hatred has lying lips, And one who spreads slander is a fool. You are a hypocrite by concealing hatred which amounts to murder. God calls you a liar, a slanderer, and a fool. Friend, don't get mad with me I am trying to help you see by the word of God that God is telling you in His word what is in your heart towards John MacArthur.
