Enjoyed this first meeting with you guys! The drummer, Glen, is Irish. Romaine Axisa, on guitar, is French -- from Toulouse, I believe. Ren was born in Wales but moved to Brighton. Gorran, as far as I know, is from England. I love this performance so much. I think it's one of their best.

Yeah, he can do the lot. He seems to be blessed with a natural feel for just about any type of music. Whatever style, he can just key into the essence of it. The word is often used too casually, but I think he actually is, a real musical genius.
When Ren first started singing, it was as if he was channeling Bob himself! And when they doubled it up to a ska beat, I thought they caught that perfectly too. But to be fair, we do have a really significant presence of West Indian/Jamaican culture over here, and very many UK people of all ages and ethnicities "get" reggae in a big way. I'm long retired now, but I used to be a (white) recording engineer in Brixton, and 90% of the music I recorded was reggae. (I couldn't help noticing that apart from Marley, reggae isn't much of a thing in the States).
Ren and Romaine (2nd guitar) use to share an apartment, and so musically know each other inside out. (Romaine Axisa released a solo album last summer - worth a listen).

Ren, Romain (the other guitarist) and Goran (the bassist) all lived together during lockdown, so I guess they got to really gel during that time. They released a video of David Bowie's 'Heroes' during that time, its a mashup of them messing about and fans videos sent in, plus them playing live at the end in masks and white coveralls. The Big Push went their separate ways when Ren had to go to Canada for medical treatment, which he is still receiving. Ren had written, recorded and produced most of his 'Sick Boi' solo album before he left for treatment. He's currently writing and recording his new album whilst in Canada. There is a video of Ren performing Hi Ren live in Japan. There is also a 360 video of Ren performing the Jenny & Screech trilogy live in front of an audience which is absolutely amazing, and definite must see...

Have not read all the comments so probably repeating, sorry.
They are all very talented and a world class band, but Ren is one in 7 billion!
Ren and Romain Axisa (The Frenchman with the fluid wardrobe (as I recently heard it described) flatted together for 7 years. I think they got kicked out of a few and some of the rooms, stairs and rooftops of the various buildings (plus those of friends) show up in different music videos. You can see the same places show up again and again, it is fun to recognise them. They (and Gorran Kendall the other guitarist/bass/singer) have lockdown jamming videos they did.
Ren is a masterclass of reggae, jazz, scat, rock, ska, hip hop, rap, beatboxing, to name just a few. Watching him flip seamlessly from one to the other or combine, say, beatboxing and singing in one breath is something to behold. He did a livestream a while ago where he just jammed with himself, singing his own songs and covers, just on the spur of the moment and as the idea struck him.
I maintain that his channel should not be called @Renmakesmusic. It should be @Renismusic!!

An artist that I recommend highly that a renagade( Ren fan) suggested to Ren and Ren was blown away and suggested we all listen. Tbe story was Ren Initially suggested. Had to clarify to give proper credit. The artists name is Asaf Avidan. Solo artist origfrom Israel. Now lives in Italy. Has been around about 14 yrs. Not known much in states. Amazing talent and voice. Try 900 days for starters. His early stuff is real good also. He is like a Ren in my book. But have not head rap from him nor being chronic illness. But has a fantastic mind and sense of humor. So down to earth. Plays multiple instruments also

If you want more diversity examples, please react to the video titled "The Big Push - Wade in the water / Nina simone / Trouble so hard ", Ren plays bass and you'll have the opportunity to hear one more band member sing. They all are wild talents :)
And for the HI Ren... no version other then him and his Cordoba. Other ppl have said it too, like, he could throw in some percussion, other instruments, perhaps shorten it a bit... No. It is exactly the way he envisioned it. Mind you, for some of his other songs there would be an acoustic version following the release (and always completely different lol), but you'll get there.
    Thank. gentlemen! Subbed

Ren has said he usually starts with either the guitar melody or a drum beat, when building a song. I know on Hi Ren he had a 4 minute song done, where he scrapped all the lyrics and started over. He mentioned wanting to keep it as raw and stripped back as possible. He practiced a solid month with his voice, facial expressions, movements to have it all down. When the record labels were courting him, they suggested changes in the song that really set Ren against signing. Hi Ren is exactly the way he wants it and is stand alone.
BTW, he did sign with a small INDEPENDENT label called Yhe Other Songs. He keeps full rights and control of songs, production and distribution of his work.

THE BIG PUSH (also known as the Battle of the Somme) was the British and French attempt to defeat the Germans in WWI. It was expected to be lightning fast and end the war. The British lost 60,000 men the first day. The battle ended four months later with well over one million casualties and 300,000 fatalities. It achieved nothing. It has since become a symbol of military hubris and incompetence.
Either that, or it's the last thing you do before birthing a baby. Take your pick.

Tolkien was influenced by Germanic heroic legend, especially its Norse and Old English forms. During his education at King Edward's School in Birmingham, he read and translated from the Old Norse in his free time. One of his first Norse purchases was the Völsunga saga.
Tolkien drew on a wide array of influences including language, Christianity, mythology and Germanic heroic legend including the Norse Völsunga saga, archaeology, especially at the Temple of Nodens, ancient and modern literature, like Finnish 19th-century epic poetry The KalevalaZ
Actually, the Welsh language inspired Grey-elvish Sindarin, and he was fascinated by Celtic myth, even if it didn't always have the flavour he wanted for his own mythology. His elves owe much to the Irish Tuatha Dé Danann, and his idea of undying lands over the Western ocean is straight out of Celtic myth."Aug 24, 2022

I'm really enjoying your Ren and The Big Push reactions. You really should react to band member Romain Axisa who has an amazing new song. It's a sad song, about an important and timely topic. Romain tells you about it in the description of the video. The new song really displays Romain's voice and shows his guitar playing as well as his solo in 'I Shot The Sheriff,' although in an entirely different way.
The song is "Romain Axisa - Time After Time (Live at St Augustine's Chapel)." It's here: ruclips.net/video/sEzhMkLvOkw/видео.htmlsi=pj59L82JZ8aVZdPD
