This band is great. Loved them for a long time. One on my list: Band Maid, One Ok Rock, Wagakki, Doll$boxx and Hanabie. They are always best live. ALWAYS. Their best work is Domination, Daydreaming, Freedom, Manners with Black Hole, and of course all live.

There IS a Dio documentary, 'Dreamers Never Die'.

'Lonely is the Word', 'Over and Over', he hit those notes in Sabbath all the time. And he NEVER lost his range, he was belting with Sabbath until months before he died, touring with Heaven and Hell.

MISA's bass guitar is distressed deliberately, It's actually fairly new. It was built for her. Not bad for 4 very talent ladies and 1 very very smart 800yo Pigeon, Huh!!

I hate to break it to you , but that bass is brand new. Black Cloud custom makes MISA's basses. And they come moderately relic'd. Her old 4 String Fender Jazz bass has long since been retired and she did have a G & L for a while. But since she got a Black Cloud Black Smoker she had them make her this replacement for her Jazz Bass as well as a Precision SG and her Signature Beta JB 5 MISA Bass. You can buy one.

"Tiny girl?" MISA is about 5'8" barefoot. Tiny? No, that bass is huge.

Back in 2019, I scored VIP tickets to their first concert in New York which included a meet-and-greet, so I got to see them close-up, literally feet in front of me. The shocking thing to me at the time was how tiny they all are. You can't really tell by their videos, but they're all around 5 feet tall, like five little Japanese dolls you want to put in your pocket and take home. I don't think Kanami (the lead guitarist) even reaches 5 feet tall and MISA (the bassist), who likes to play barefoot, is not much taller than that. So having these tiny women on stage absolutely killing it makes it even more impressive. One concern I had was that when they would eventually become more popular and would play larger venues, they would get lost on a bigger stage. Seems I had nothing to be concerned about. For the longest time, BAND-MAID was actually more popular outside of Japan than inside. That popularity saved them from being broken up back in 2014 when the video of "Thrill" went viral. Their management knows how popular they are overseas, so a few years back they went and added subtitles to their earlier videos. I didn't need subtitles back then and I don't need them now to appreciate how good their music is. I think that trying to read subtitles distracts from hearing all that is going on in their music, which is quite a lot. Go back and listen to any of their songs and you'll hear things you never noticed before.

So..try the Cincinnati Vampires cover of this song....you MIGHT know the lead singer , and you WILL want to know who THAT 19 yr old drummer is. Pay attention to the guitar solo, BTW.....also, they have art work telling the story, with Gandalf the Gray flying by......

By the way guys, there is another bass/guitar "conversation/duel" from this same concert. One of their songs "Don't You Tell ME" had that duel during the song. It was just as excellent. They did a collaboration with The Warning titled "Show Them" that they recently released an official music video of the song.

You don't see many bass/lead guitar "conversation/duel" by a rock band. First, it displays the amazing talent of both the "lead" bassist and the lead guitarist. Ask yourself what you would think if you saw this at a live rock concert. Band-Maid may be the best (I think they are) pure rock band in the world today!

Rainbow rising is a masterpiece - one of my all time fav albums. I think it’s a pity this was your first experience of it actually as it all fits and flows together like a concept album without actually being one and I think you have missed out on the experience of first hearing the whole album start to finish as one experience without stopping and talking about it. Trust me, if you haven’t gone back and listened to this whole album all the way through for yourself after hearing this track, do it now as I’m sure you will appreciate and love it by the end :) Anyhow - I’m here for watching you react to the whole album start to finish if you wanna do that too - I appreciate your take on this genre as while I /love/ this album, and some Iron Maiden and some Black Sabbath and a few others, I never cared who was who, so although I always knew this was “Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow” - I never knew or cared who he was. My way of consuming music back then was I liked “bands” but I didn’t care or pay attention to who was in the band. It was like bands were their own thing - bigger than the people who were in them. (Actually, I still sorta feel that way as I think when people come together in a band, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts if they are good as a band - so the band is something different to just being the people in it).

I would agree with Drake, the first time you hear a Band-Maid song, leave the CC off. Unless it's highly suggest you leave it on. "Endless Story" is a good example of leaving it on as there is dialogue by Saiki, the lead singer, which will add to the impact of the song. Most would suggest you leave it on for this one, as the lyrics are pretty brutal and quiet entertaining. But even so, as you mentioned, you can always go back to watch with the lyrics. Band-Maid's compositions are often quite complex and concentrating on the lyrics will too often distract many listeners from so many little gems in the song. Keep on rocking with the Maids, you have only scratched the surface of their portfolio, much more great songs to check out. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘

I've seen Misa lose the rear strap on her bass while playing Hate?, forcing her to drop down to one knee on the stage. She never missed a note even though she was in the middle of playing a complicated section with slides during the first verse. The other maids never looked her way. They were unaware anything had happened. I've also seen MISA play bass while lying flat on her back.🙂

Stargazer is an Epic Masterpiece. The composition & vocal quality is exceptional.

I recommend Gacharic Spin, Nemophila, Rolling Quartz, NEK!, Koiai, and for American band Plush, Canadian band Freeze the Fall, to start.

Vinnie was on the Mob Rules album. The picture of the band members on the Long Live Rock and Roll album is Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell, Bob Daisley, and David Stone. The Stargazer line up had Jimmy Bain (bass) & Tony Carey (keyboard) Ozzy had a huge issue with Dio replacing him. Highly recommend watching videos from the 1977 Munich Concert. "Mistreated" and "Catch the Rainbow" being fantastic. There isn't much live footage of Stargazer on RUclips, very unfortunate.

The bass player MISA aka the "Barefoot Assassin" because she plays barefoot is the tallest member at almost 5'8" so she really is not small. Her bass has a custom distressed look.

Gentlemen, I am a 60 year old rocker. I grew up with the great 70's and 80's rock. These girls and The Warning have become my 2 favorite bands. Just Fn talent.

What always gets me is, at the very last drumbeat from Akane, Misa (The Barefoot Assassin) leans back laughing, as she looks over to Kanami. She knows they did something great out there.

Interesting choice fr first time hear, I respect that it's not something like Stressed out or Haethens. I would strongly recommend Johny boy/Addict with a pen/Taxi Cab/The Pantaloon if we are with Self titled album
