      This is what baseball has always been like so I agree with you. Yes it always seems like the same teams, such as the Pirates, get caught up in situations like these on national television so they get treated as the bad guys. In reality though, every team does this.

    Pirates were desperate at this point and were trying to throw Arrieta off and get him out of his groove. Pirates were able to muster up some offense after this happened. Dirty move but they were desperate.

  • @lawlietjayson963
    @lawlietjayson963 8 лет назад +76

    Arrieta certainly didn't hit the two pirates on purpose. It's too important of a game and he was pitching phenomenally. No way he would have done it on purpose and risk getting ejected in a best of 1.
    As for the Pirates, it's pretty obvious why they hit Arrieta. They can try to disguise it all they want as retaliation for their two players getting hit, but in reality, it's because Arrieta was dominating and they couldn't do anything against him. So, why not hit him and see if he gets mad enough to get thrown out. Pretty crappy on the Pirates part, but that's what happens when you feel helpless. You'll try anything to win.

      sportsygirl8 I'm not even sure anymore. Tuesday (10/13) he was at the Dodgers/Mets game in NY. I'm going to guess he'll be back in KC for the Astros/Royals game 5 on Wednesday, then back to LA for the Mets/Dodgers game 5 on Thursday. Idk how he does it.

      Ville24 Yeah, I saw him there at Citi Field Tuesday night and you were spot on that he was in KC. I was guessing all evening that he'll probably go to LA. I just don't know how he does it either. He was at a lot of the Sunday Night Baseball games too, idk about Monday Night since I was either watching the Pirates or the summer repeats of Scorpion.

    • @kyleraymer5581
      @kyleraymer5581 8 лет назад +1

      Why does it matter that he accidently hit 2 batters before. Batters getting hit is part of the game, you don't intentionally throw at a pitcher because he accidently hit a batter. Pirates lead the league in hit batters, didn't see teams throwing at them intentionally.

    • @lazycat3562
      @lazycat3562 8 лет назад

      Kyle Raymer I am sorry but Two wrong never make right. The Pirates had a right be tick off. Now does that mean that they had a excuse to hit a pitcher or any other hitter no. Arrieta did come out and threw very well after the warning and yes that is a sign to me that with out a dough he was trying to hit both batters.and yes there are pitchers that try to hit batters

    • @kyleraymer5581
      @kyleraymer5581 8 лет назад +1

      Dennis Brown he put a lead off hitter on and 2 innings later put guys on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Not just that but both times it wasnt even on the 1st pitch. Also he had no reason to hit either guy. The idea that he threw at either intentionally is just insane and has no logic behind it.

      +Noel López No hate here. Just speaking the truth. Guy's been pitching for years. If he was really one of the best in the game, he would've been good years ago. Kershaw's been the best pitcher in the league since he's been called up. Arrieta's a guy that found his groove for half a season and got lucky.

    • @cubzrulz
      @cubzrulz 8 лет назад

      +IndigenousProtocol He didn't get lucky. How can you be that lucky for that long? He was just good. The reason why he wasn't good with the Orioles was that the pitching staff weren't lettinf him pitch the way he wanted to. That's why the moment he arrived in Chicago his numbers went up even before he had his Cy Young season. If you look at all the Chicago headlines when the Cubs got Arrieta you'll see that they all say that he was something special, with potential, and/or promise.

      it wasn't a half season. Jake also had a great 2014, look up the stats. he walked too many guys this year, but he's still the hardest starter to actually HIT in the majors (look up batting average against)

      +Ben Jacox it was no mistake. The pitcher had no reaction of like damn sorry for hitting you dude. Nope he threw it, hit him, and got the ball back from the catcher. Out of all batters he could've hit, he coincidently hits arrieta on "accident" nope nope Ben you are mistaken. "Nicest in the league" meanwhile you got one of your players throwing a punch at our player. The play has nothing to do with him, then he gets pissed that he was ejected

    • @adriangarcia8880
      @adriangarcia8880 8 лет назад +1

      +Mike 24 Arrieta wouldn't hit batters on purpose in an important game. He's not dumb. The Pirates pitcher acted like a little bitch and purposely hit our pitcher. Rodriguez... What a clusterfuck

    • @WolverinePete
      @WolverinePete 8 лет назад +1

      +Mike 24 Actually by keeping a cool head and not getting thrown out of the game, Arrietta got the win and as a bonus stole second when that dumbass Rodriguez went into roid rage and starting attacking Cubs players and water coolers.

    Arrieta isn't Maddux, his control sometimes gets wild, and he does hit people, it's not intention on his part, but when he's batting come on, he's a fucking pitcher, no chance in hell he's going to be like a number 3 or 4 man in the lineup. Should have hit Rizzo since he's right on top of the plate, it'd be a message, and since he's right there, an easier thing to get away with.

    Ron Darling was exactly right. Arrietta runs to first and keeps his mouth shut, after hitting two Pirates earlier, nothing happens. Typical. Wherever Joe Maddon manages. Typical.

  • @godzillafanforever1
    @godzillafanforever1 8 лет назад +1

    The first arrieta hit was not intentional, the second could have gone either way and dependent on the ump could have been thrown out. But this was a clear retaliation imo. Now let's all have a civilized conversation based on this comment 😂😂😂
