I'm honestly surprised some of these umps don't get jumped in the middle of the ballpark after their abysmal performance. They are obviously not being punished by the league, so it's almost like the only ones in a position to fight back are the players with bats in their hands.

Just a reminder that fans attend games to see the PLAYERS not the umpires. If you’re going to hold players to such high expectations, their on field counterparts need to be held to the same standards. An umpire screws up, he’s held accountable just like a player. A player doesn’t touch an umpire, an umpire doesn’t touch a player. A player doesn’t point at an umpire, an umpire doesn’t point at a player.
Although I will admit there were a few instances that I liked where the player did something wrong and he’s not even arguing it. He’s got that look of “that’s right, I did that. And I’ll do it again.”

I read a story where in either 1981 or 1983 when Angel was an A ball rookie umpire in Florida, he was jumped by two drunk angry fans for his bad performance and beaten. The damage resulted in 35% vision loss in one eye. He literally can’t see the low corners. He sued and the settlement out of court in 1986 was a job for life/until retirement.

MLB players, coaches , and managers need to completely ignore the umpires. Umps want to be a part of the game rather than officials, don't let them be. After exchanging line-up card, don't have another word to say to them. Don't argue balls and strike, check swings nothing. On the other hand don't talk to them, look at them. Don't offer help when they get hit by a foul ball, nothing. all of their dramatics when calling a third strike, all to be a part of the show, BS. Totally ignore them and the BS will stop. They will learn the strike zone, or be reported. Start protesting more games, just to be a thorn in the side. Just don't talk to the umps. I realize that not all of them are bad, but they all belong to the same union and should be treated the same way. Have a nice day.

If an umpire boots a player for balls and strikes arguing and the player is right they should be fined. It would cut down on all this nonsense

Their umpiring days are numbered, because they are eventually being replaced by robots and computers and there is too much controversy and debating with them. And they are overstepping their boundaries with their bad conduct and actions. It needs to be stopped.

I really wish a manager of a team would tell his player who gets ejected for some manby pamby issue to stay in the game and call the umpires ejection. If the umpire ejectes anyone else, call the entire team off the field and tell the other umps they will not play as long as the home plate umpire is allowed to stay behind the plate. I’m so sick of umpire hijacking games. It’s about the players you jackweed umps, it’s not about you!!
