I saw in an interview that the lyrics were based on his feelings of guilt about being away on the road and away from his family and being scared that something bad could happen while he was gone. Then of course converting that into something from the story.

Since you love songs which can keep having evolving stories, Coheed are obiviously great. As we heard in In Keeping Secrets. Claudio and the world are in a galactic battle, but this song on the other hand is not based in reality of the story. These are Claudio Kilgannons confessions and nightmares. He loves his girlfriend, he loves his family, he's afraid to lose them all, and he's in turmoil.
Coheed always has difficult lyrics to follow - but like you're saying: Once you know the words, you can hear it. And that's the same with the story. Once you know the story, all the words make so much sense.
I've loved them since 2010 and kept with them and had so much joy in seeing their tale be evolved, adapted, and written out.
I recommend to you to listen to the track The End Complete III: The End Complete. Such a good sonic and story track.

If you're planning to do more Coheed songs in the Future. Do them album wise, so you can hear their growth in telling their story.
I'd say: Everything Evil > The Crowing > Welcome Home > The Willing Well I: Fuel for the Feeding End > The Willing Well III: Apollo II: The Telling Truth > No World For Tomorrow > On the Brink > and then we can see how you feel about them - and continue our journey.
Those are all like stamples of greatness, even though there's so much more between, but I feel those are the diverse tracks which show you their broad horizon up to 2007 x) And then we get a new era of Coheed which is easily as great

Thanks for the order - it's always difficult to figure out where to start.

Great reaction, love the lyrical and musical breakdown, it’s always nice when someone takes the time to really dig into their music beyond just the superficial level!
They have an extremely diverse discography, some songs are longer epics like “In Keeping Secrets”, some are short poppy jams, some are acoustic ballads, etc. Since you’ve done two of their older tracks so far and enjoy when their songs have distinct sections or “movements”, I would suggest checking out some newer stuff next by doing the title track off their most recent album, “Window of the Waking Mind”. It ends the album with 8.5 glorious minutes of “what if Coheed and Cambria wrote a musical about fatherhood” and really takes you on a journey!!

Thanks, I appreciate that. And wow, that track sounds really cool; I'm definitely going to check that out soon. Since I've learned that a lot of the music is structured off of comics (I'm not sure if it's just one certain one or multiple), it tells me that they've got the narrative storytelling down, and I'm all in for that.

Its a specific comic called The Amory Wars, created by the lead singer with his wife. Each album has its own arc within the comic, except for "The Color Before The Sun" which is more centered on real life and the lead up to him becoming a father. The neat thing about the band is that while all of the songs are written around the comics, almost everything in the comics is very much centered in real life for the singer. @@DadDaughtersandDrinks

Great reaction! This is not the best example of how insane Claudio Sanchez is at playing and singing. The guy has unreal talent.

Thanks - I plan to check out more, but kinda think I need to read the comic first to really get the most out of it.

@@DadDaughtersandDrinks I'm a 20+ year fan at this point, seen them live 11 times, and I've never read the comics. The songs come first and foremost for the band. The comic for the 4th album is only now coming in 2024, and they have 11 albums currently. Some of the story is in comics, some in novels, some in liner notes, and that stuff, IMO is more for like the fans to dig in when they want more. But for the most part, the emotions and themes that are touched upon are universal and lend themselves to putting images in your mind which are just as real to the story as what Claudio (The writer and singer) has envisioned. My point is, please do more Coheed reactions, the other commenters have left great recommendations. :D
