I'm so glad this video got recommended to me. I have been really interested in getting back into Runescape but as you said, it's very slow and my rotting tiktok brain can't handle that. I'm sure playing this while talking with the boys is the main way to play it, as I've been kinda bored of playing video games recently. You put effort into this video and it shows. Really well done.
Oh wow man, I’m really happy to hear that. This means a lot. I hope you enjoy the game and discussed the Roman Empire with the boys 🫡 your patronage is much appreciated
Runescape holds a very special place in my heart. I spent a ton of time on it as a kid and made numerous friends playing it, one of which I am still in contact with, and learned a ton of valuable life lessons (such as how to be suspicious of everyone and everything because there are a billion ways people are going to try and scam you out of everything you own). The game has a lot of charm and personality to it as well a number of genuinely good quests and interesting skills (many of which were locked behind membership). Plus, it was something my parents didn't mind me playing as much because the fact I was making money through hard labor and craftsmanship rather than killing things alleviated their irrational fears that gaming was going to turn me into a psychopath. The game also gave me a ton of cool stuff to work for and numerous interesting ways to attempt to work towards it. It's a game that quite literally changed my life. So, with that in mind, I'm going to have to actually disagree with the title here. Runescape is an excellent game for kids to play because you get to explore and learn at the same time. Discovery was at the core of my engagement with runescape, and as an adult that just isn't there anymore. When I tried to get back into it on a new character I had fun for maybe a week as I re-experienced that feeling of discovery until enough time had passed that a lot of my memory had come back and the game lost its appeal. Moreover, even if I were to look for new content to experience, my increased knowledge of video game systems, how to interact with them, and how to min-max, would strip the fun of experimentation and discovery away, leaving only the monotonous grind. Because, as you identified, runescape is a very slow game with a ton of grind, and that's just not engaging when you don't feel the excitement of working towards some minor goal you set, convinced it'll make a difference and be something to talk with your friends about at recess, or when you already understand that super lame stuff, like mining coal, is a far more efficient way to get rich and buy good stuff than exciting stuff like doing quests or fighting monsters. Not to mention, I've already learned all the life lessons runescape has to teach and am not in a position to realistically expect to make longlasting friendships through it, either. If I was in a situation where I had late night convos with friends and was looking for something to do during it, then yeah runescape is probably as good for that as you mentioned, but sadly that's not a situation I find myself in. The equivalent games for me are things I play while listening to a podcast/video essay in the background, and for that stuff like Civ or Monster Hunter, which are engaging in their own right but familiar enough to not require full concentration, do the job better.
Yo that’s a good point. It helped pave the way for [my gaming addiction]. In all seriousness tho, I learn community and gaming and had a good friendship thanks to RuneScape as a kid. Maybe it’s just good at all ages lol
it's 2005 you are 9 years old, hogging the pc in the family living room. your parents sit in the family room watching tv. a kitchen timer ticks above your head. 20 minutes of computer time left. You keep attacking farmers in lumbridge, they gave you more gold than the level 2 men. Some kids at the library showed you this game on the computers now you are addicted.
@@studeogames You have to understand, I played runescape with the police for 3 years before I got my bachelors degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering. I think we could use our understanding of street psychology to make runescape more like indeed, monster, and linkedin.
First time playing runescape, started three months ago. was going great but just hit a wall and now every time I go to play it, I get a feeling that I'm waisting my time cause the game is so slow. I was actually really enjoying it. but now for some reason whenever I play I just get the feeling that my time could be better spent playing any other game.
I think that’s actually the beauty of the game. You learn to optimize your clicks so you only have to click a couple times per 5 minutes let’s say, so you can play or watch something else
Free dragon dagger p++ if you like and sub
