Doom, space marine, & helldivers: "Am I a joke to you?" These games exist. They didn't stop existing. Agendas have nothing to do with any thing. This is one sentence away from another "woke bad dei" rant video. They don't take risks gameplay wise, the games aren't finished and broken on launch, they're full of microtransactions, etc. You don't have to look for something deeper that isn't there. The gaming market got too big and people's passion projects aren't AAA titles any more, instead just safe, mediocre gameplay that doesn't experiment new ideas for a return on investment. It's that simple.

This gears take was wild. If you arent familiar with the bulk of a franchise, maybe just phoning a friend that played something once isn't enough to get a feel for it. Your synopsis was way off for gears 4 and 5 stories, thise games may have just as much grit and spirit as 1-3 just didnt hit the aging audience the same. I think basing your opinion and take for your video off of a misinformed conversation with one person is more indicative of our current culture of unease and disappointment with new media. Maybe a lot of people dont know enough about a lot of things to form their own opinion, and the negative one on their screen sells better so its always easy to find somebody posting it.

See I never understood the hate for the suit. The suit looks good in my opinion. Yeah it being tied to his shoes is dumb and yes, the full mask idealogy that Stan Lee talks about is also lost with this suit BUT that doesn't make the suit bad. Those parts of the suit are somewhat sucky but the suit still looks good.

If I want grim dark stories I can just read the news. Kinda glad the age of "every character is a self centered asshole" is over. Also why did you bring up kingdom hearts? The script here would have benifitted from a few rewrites. As it is, you meander quite a bit and muddy your points.

They remade Silent Hill 2 first because its a good standalone introduction to the series rather then remaking the first game. That way, if they remake the first game, then silent hill 3, the direct continuation of silent hill 1, will release chronologically to one another

I don't think they've lost their grit because of any "woke" or "dei" agenda, I think gamers as a whole have just grown up. There are still AMAZING games out there, like how you said bg3, but there are also just ok games out there, but because people have latched onto grifting, we can't just have "ok" games now. Star wars outlaws is a fairly decent game all said and done, was buggy at launch, but is in a good state. If it was released before the culture war, it would have been a solid 6.5/10-7/10 and people would have forgotten it. Now its some political stunt because it had pretty mid writing and a female mc. Then absolutely verging on bad, mediocre games like stellar blade are being praised as the second coming of Christ just because "big boobs and butt". People are hypercritical about games now, and for the most part demand perfection. I personally think the new rachet and clank game is pretty good, but I also need to accept that I'm never going to feel the same way I did as a kid playing that on my ps2 in my basement late on schoolnights. Gamers have grown up, and sadly the gaming industry in general has changed. Some may blame it on story consulting firms like SBI (it really is just a consulting firm, the devs aren't FORCED to take their feedback), I personally blame it on crunch and oversaturated markets. AC shadows is most likely going to be a decent game, but because we've had SO MANY ASSASIN CREED GAMES, and just ubisoft open world games, its going to feel the same. The same thing goes on with call of duty, new games are good, but we've just had so many, and big companies refuse to let stuff die. Another thing I think that is important to understand is demographics have changed A LOT. Not only do more people have access to gaming, its not as much of a male dominated hobby anymore. MULTIPLE studies show its a 45-55 ish split now, and although some might disagree with this, I think its time we let the INSERT WHITE MALE DUDE WITH SHORT HAIR WHO ALL LOOK AND TALK THE SAME trope. Not to use the "d" word, but some more diverse (experience wise) games are honestly welcome. I also think that there was a shift in the creative space, as most original games are indie at this point, while triple AAA games seem to be the same slop every year, usually with worse writing. I'd love to think its not the writers fault, but pretty much most modern games just have mid ass writing. Besides the standouts, they're all just a homogenized slop story. What sucks is this really isn't a western studio problem either, as games like stellar blade had the most cliche, obvious plot twists, while the only upside of the main character was her being attractive, while she was basically a hollow husk of a character. Before the corporatization of the gaming industry, we had games being made for the sake of fun first, now everything HAS to be a hit, and HAS to be the new next thing, Concord all said and done was a well polished, fluid game with a decent amount of potential. But because sony HAD to put all their eggs in one basket, and hinge on it being a success, a game that would have been amazing free to play just died. This is one of the reasons the indie scene is so amazing right now, as smaller dev teams have more time to work on stuff they actually want to work on, rather than Activision forcing the employees at breastmilk to churn out another cod game every year. The industry as a whole has swapped quality for quantity, and due to the culture war bs about there being an optional pronoun selection box in a space game, or a bald female lead in yet ANOTHER space game, gamers are none the wiser, and don't even care about what corporations have done to our games. TLDR Making games focus on making money as a no1 goal has stifled creativity, and when devs do try to be creative, gamers hound them for pretty minor things that they wouldn't have bat an eye to 10 years ago. We need to have less huge $$$ projects, and stop making the same game with a different filter *ahem every ubisoft game since 2012*

Old games were made for teens, some times accessible to younger audiences, always finding ways to appeal to older fans. The true nature of all-ages media. Games by gamers for gamers, by nerds for nerds, by passionate people for passionate people. Nowadays most try to mass appeal, since gaming isn't niche anymore, which results in the diluted concept of modern all-ages media, that being the age of 3-11 being the target demographic being considered the golden standard for all-ages games. They make games for children and casuals that never come close to finishing their games and the true core audience gets ignored. Of course there's also the fact that the art of videogaming has devolved in literally everything except tech. Look at Mass Effect 2 and 3, they look better than 95% of modern games. Literally inferior but literally superior. Intentionality in lighting, stellar art direction, properly distributed dynamic environment, they understood the assignment. Almost everyone nowadays does not. Writing is worse, art direction is worse, OSTs are worse (modern gaming made orchestrated compositions the most bland and generic thing ever, fumbled the unfumbalbe), optimization is worse, we wait a decade per game instead of 8 months/1-2 years, pacing flaws and bloat everywhere, bad practices of game design left and right. The art of gaming peaked at 2005-2012 with the PS3 and 360.

I know it's too late now... But, you should as a new player ALWAYS first do the tutorials in Dota, they really do a good job of teaching you how the game works, at least at the base level...they even suggest using a coach

Fun video! I think you'd enjoy it more if you took 5 min to figure out how items work, feels like you got undermined by your own item choices a lot. Like in one of the seven games you tried playing a bit like a caster build but you royally lacked damage output because you had 8 vitality(tanky) items and only 3 spirit(ability power) items, some of them being (in)active. I'd also maybe suggest trying someone else like maybe talon or lash that are a bit more dynamic and fun. It is a great game, once you get the hang of it.
