@@canyoufeelthelove3305 I don't even think that's true, Dota don't really get a lot of new players, so most people playing it now are boomers, casually that is. I started in 2005.
So my recommendation for if you are super confused by a hero is to click on their portrait to select them and then take a bit of time to read their abilities, with the best time to do so being when you are dead. Like in league, the deeper your understanding of the enemy heroes the better you can play against them, so snatching time to learn when you have the chance can go a long way towards getting better at the game. Also I'll give some explanations here for stuff you were confused or had questions about, but honestly your confusion is entertaining in its own right so feel free to skip the explanations if you'd rather just figure it out on your own. Though I will say that dota has no shortage of things to learn so I don't think you have to worry about running out (there are so many obscure or niche mechanics and interactions in this game that even top level pros are sometimes unaware of them). Anyways: 1) Generally you want to stay in lane as long as you can and have the donkey ferry out items, but sometimes, if your hp and mana are low enough, its more worthwhile to just go back to base. You can also send regen items on the courier, but the donkey is slower when carrying regen items so if you are going to sustain yourself by ferrying regen its better to do so before getting low. 2) Medusa takes no damage because, as of her rework in the most recent major patch, she has a passive that redirects 98% of damage taken towards her mana instead of her health and, depending on the level of the passive, it takes between 2 to 4 damage to reduce her mana by 1 point, however in return she has 0 natural hp gain, so essentially her mana bar is her health bar. Oh, and when her eyes glow red and she starts making a bunch of noise that's her ult and if you look at her for too long you turn to stone and take extra physical damage. 3) Just fyi, Lich's 3rd skill is a channeled "fear" that makes the target walk towards you and drains 10% of their mana per second. For reference, channeled abilities will say "Channeled" at the top of the ability description so I would recommend giving a brief scan for that on heroes you are unfamiliar with, especially if their spells don't seem to be doing anything. 4) The middle of map shop, known as the "Secret Shop" only carries a small selection of items, all of which can only be bought there, so you can't visit it for just any in lane shopping. Item's that are secret shop exclusive have a little red symbol in the bottom right to make it easier to tell at a glance what you need to visit the shop for. 5) To answer "The fuck is this?" about the big rectangle thing you encountered top lane near their base: It's a new addition to the map in the latest major patch. It has 1 hp and a big shield that regenerates quickly and it deals 70% of the damage it takes back to everyone in a large area around it spread evenly between all heroes (damage reflected increases every time it respawns). There are 2 of them on the map, they spawn at 20 mins and take 10 minutes to respawn after being killed, and killing them grants aghanim's shard to one of the two lowest networth heroes on your team, randomly selected (Aghanim's shard is a 1400 gold item that doesn't take a slot and gives a different effect for every hero). 6) Yeah, you can drop items and even destroy dropped items by issuing an attack command on them. Item dropping is sometimes used by pro players to get more value out of regen consumables, and frequently used by ragers to destroy all their items before running it down. 7) So tower aggro mechanics in dota are quite a bit different from in league, and are a little complicated. Somewhat similar to league, the tower has a priority list for what it targets and once it chooses a target will keep attacking that target until it dies, moves out of range, or an enemy hero in the tower's range auto attacks an allied hero (though unlike league it ONLY aggros if you auto the enemy, spells and other sources of damage don't aggro it). If a tower is attacking your hero, it is also possible to lose aggro by issuing an attack command on an allied creep, at which point the tower will choose it's aggro based on its priority list again (which is still sometimes you), so if you are being attacked under tower spam attack on allied creeps while running away and hope it picks up a new target. The target priority list goes (as far as I know): Closest enemy hero attacking allied heroes > Closest non-hero attacking allied heroes > nearest unit to the tower that is attacking it > nearest unit to the tower attacking an allied creep > nearest unit to the tower > some hero summons > catapults (the psuedo equivalent of the cannon minion). Also all towers except for T1s gain multishot when fortified (when the little barrier appears around it and it stops taking damage), which at least in one case was why it was hitting you. Oh and for a few hero recommendations you could consider: 1) Dragon Knight, for a tanky, fairly simple to play, hero that usually goes mid but can at least function basically anywhere. 2) Disruptor, my favorite support hero who is high impact, strong at the moment, and has one of the more league-esque skill rotations (most basic combo is you put your q on someone to give vision, give them a few seconds to run away, use your w to bring them back and deal damage, set up your e where they will appear, then drop your ult on them). 3) Ember Spirit, if you want a fun mid hero with a lot of potential for mechanical outplay (though be warned, his learning curve isn't that steep but you will likely still struggle a bit while learning him since you are still learning the game as a whole as well). Oh, and just fyi you can use spells and items while in ember spirit's w, which is where his most basic combo comes from (use w on a far target and quickly put a q on them while the w is hitting them). 4) Skywrath Mage, if you played mages in league and want arguably the closest dota hero to the archetype. 5) Sniper, for a somewhat stereotypical noob pick with a playstyle that is pretty close to that of a league ADC
Ah yes, Dota. A game where it somehow feels like you're losing and expanding your braincells at the same time 😂 . Good luck man, you found a gem of game right there.
For Medusa, when you attack her she mitigates some damage by having it subtract from her mana first. Secondly, be sure when shopping to click on the neutrals tab and pick up a token. You get a "free" neutral item, it goes in that empty slot you had.
@@studeogames she is so sloww she is like a moving fortress , there is items to burn mana like Difusal Blade + manta u can burn his mana so fast or Anti Mage is one of his biggest counters
Stick and boots are your only items in early game as a support, support is the least boring role in dota you can do almost everything as a support from pulling, stacking, using your tp scrolls to join early teamfights. If you want to know about pulling and stackings just watch it on youtube.Your doing good btw👌 and we doto players are always here to support you my boy🙂
Some POGGERS clutch you did as lich 3:35 you used your sinister gaze(E) right before doom used his ultimate(the way he lifted his sword up. is the ultimate skill animation, basically 12-13 second silence-mute) and because you used ur E your carry killed doom. that was epic. 5:40 one of the cleanest lich ult i have seen in a long time. insane dmg. wp
I definitely knew what I was doing and clearly planned this out before doing it and it wasn’t a random chance because I don’t know how to play Dota still 🫣
I'm sure you've already figured this out 2 months after the time, but whenever a hero confuses you, click their portrait and you'll select them, and you can read any of their skills at any time. It's one of the major strongpoints of Dota imo. And then the best advice I can give a newer player, which I even have to do myself after thousands of hours, is always take a deep breath and remind yourself of what your items do and always mentally plan around your items. Force staff is a super good item for example, but you forgot to use it a few times in this game, and that happens at all levels when things are heated. Always mentally go through a checklist: I have force staff, so if I'm chasing or if I'm getting gone on, double tap 3. Remind yourself constantly. It's almost like checking blindspots when you're driving a car. Any time you see stuff about to happen, check minimap, check items, check gold, check cooldowns. Plan what to do if you need to run. Plan what spell you're gonna use first if you see an enemy (usually your disable first, unless there's a channeling spell you need to cancel or the enemy could TP out if you're the only disable). The nicest part about Dota, and the reason why I can't ever get into League no matter how hard I try, is Dota is slow. You never want to be playing purely with reactions. You want to plan ahead and prepare yourself to react optimally.
As an immortal player (I think it’s the equivalent of challenger in league?) this video made me so nostalgic of what it was like when I first started playing dota 10 years ago Some heroes, especially supports, cannot 1v1 core heroes like medusa, doom, Lina etc. Also, score doesn’t matter. Someone can be 0-8 and still come back and carry the game. Just be sure to send your courier to you once you buy items. Items with the little red circle icon next to it are items that can only be bought at the secret shop. You cant buy any other items at the secret shop
@@studeogames oh you gonna love it when i tell u some support heroes are made to kill carries in dota to ruin their day, and tell them "fuck you your dead I dare you to come back to lane".
You really need to remember to use the item in your inventory, some of them are not a passive item. Force staff is super useful as a supp. Also, Medusa IS BROKEN, You can't deal dmg to her unless she's out of mana.
5:18 you get attacked by the tower cuz your team mate switches the tower aggro to you by 'attacking' you' with pressing-A and clicking onto your hero. That's how teams can dive behind enemy towers to secure a kill and escape while keeping the low HP allies alive.
Just stumbled across this vid and decided to have a look over your other dota vids, glad you decided to give it another chance. This reminds me of when I first started out, learning all the heroes and their abilities is half of the fun honestly. It's a very steep learning curve to be sure, so I'd recommend trying to find a hero you enjoy playing and from there you'll start to discover what style you find most enjoyable to play. Lich is a solid team fighter, the heroes abilities are geared towards giving your team the edge in big fights and punishing the enemies for group up. Use Q for basic damage and slow. Use to your Frost Shield to buff up your tank (or whoever is going up front). I noticed you cancelling the Sinister gaze channel duration (in settings, you can tick 'Channeled Abilities require hold/stop'). The most common use of Sinister Gaze is a punish/setup, taunt the enemy to you so an ally can attack them. If that play style doesn't jell for you, keep trying different heroes and you'll figure out where they're strong and where they're weak. For example, you couldn't kill Medusa but she can really struggle if you avoid her in a fight. She wants to sit between you and her team, but she's very susceptible to getting kited. Anyway lad, hope to see more from ya. Most of all, have fun and just mute anyone who gives you a hard time!
The refreshing feeling of seeing someone try to comprehend what Doom's Ultimate does to them. Like that's it, he drew the edgy star on you and you now die of stage 4 ligma
as a League and Dota 2 player i can tell you that Dota is a lot more technical than League, there are a lot of things that just dont exist in league like pulling creep lanes and stacking neutral camps and stuff like that wich is bind to the ingame time.
Yo, by the way, in the options (i think advanced options) you can make it so that when you press alt with an item it will auto cast it on yourself. Very useful for items like force staff, glimmer, mjolnir...etc. Also, you can set that channeled abilities require STOP (default: S) to stop channeling. So you won't use your E spell and then stop channeling when you randomly click to move.
So a tower will aggro onto whenever you issue an attack command (right click or a-click) on an enemy hero while your hero is within the towers aggro range (which is a slightly smaller aoe than their attack range) if a tower aggros you, you can issue a force attack command (a+left click by default) on an allied unit (creep or hero) in the towers range and the tower will start attacking that unit instead. Lane creeps also follow a similar rule - when you issue an attack command on an enemy hero within the creeps aggro range, they will start attacking you. This makes trading on top of a big wave dangerous, and makes attacking while your wave is big is beneficial (if they hit you back they will take a ton of damage from creeps). It can also be used to your advantage as you can use it to reposition creeps to a safer place to CS, or to mess with enemy last hits. This effect has a 3 second cooldown, so when your lane partner aggros creeps you are free to right click the enemy for 3 seconds with no aggro concerns. Thanks for reading my aggro crash course.
Upload more of your dota journey brother, youre doing great! Btw medusa doesnt take damage because of her mana shield. It drains its mana instead of hp when attacked
medusa is broken : yes indeed medusa hp is her mana, if she will take any damage, she not lose hp but her mana instead, then her skill 2 can steal mana you may notice, why she not take any damage?? but she lose mana if her mana empty then she is a paper, me and my herald friend hard to deal medusa when we first play new patch
Medusa is a hero with 0 Base Strength, so her hp is very low, even with items. To compensate that she has an innate passive called "Mana Shield", she blocks 98% of all damage in exchange for some of her mana, so if her mana wents to zero she's basically dead. Also, your are using your E wrong, it's like MF ult, u have to stay still in order to get the maximum fear duration.
Oh, if you ever play against a Bane, you can probably begin and end an entire LoL game while waiting for his Ult to expire if you're ever caught by it. The disables in DotA 2 are ridiculous.

Btw you a tip to ease the confusion at first, You can click on enemy players portraits and it will show your their hero and you read up on their abilities, will also show them the items they have from the time they were in vision.
tip for new player, click on the enemy and hover your mouse over their skill to make sense what are their abilities, especially if they keep killing you and you have no idea how, like doom skill and why medusa's not taking damage.
@@studeogames its not as dead as people say. it gets 500k players a day still while at peak it had like 1.1m im planning on keeping playing at least now and then until theres not enough players left to find a game
Medusa is not taking damage because mana is her health. Each dota 2 hero is unique in their way for example there is a hero called night stalker and when it is night he earns attack speed and more damage
Btw you're a tide, you should initiate (aka press R when your team is ready to move in) so your team can get in free and position themselves to follow up. While item/skill that can flash you is common buy or inherent in some hero, not everyone will buy it or able to so having that early stun really help your team to position themselves while avoiding enemy cc.
I tried playing dota 2 a few years ago, it went like this. I was a dwarf sniper and was in a lane with some rock golem guy on my team. Rock golem guy kept throwing me in the enemy team and calling me a noob for dying. Have never touched the game after that... Are most games of dota 2 like that or should I give it another go? For the record I've been playing League since the beta and I don't really care when someone on my team is feeding/trolling but the guy in dota 2 literally throwing me in the enemy tower drove me insane XD

there used to be a lot of hate directed at league players but tbh its the only way we can get new players now so instead we become excited to share all the crazy bullshit in this game
hey dude its so interesting to see a fresh view at dota, you really should use the free coaching mechanic built into the game and request a coach to your match while you are playing. coach players can explain and help you a lot about basic mechanics
Play a few more hours in unranked. Easier to play core than support esp if you're new to dota. But if you like to control the game by making your teammate strong then go for it. With patch 7.33c out very easy for support players to thrive unlike previous patches. Try reading hero attributes as well before you pick them in game. Or you can try demo hero so you can check their skills. Best way to have an advantage is to know more about your enemy.
Number one advice for players coming to LoL: don't overthink it. If you're a diamond V (or 4 idk if they have diamond V anymore) player or above, you will easily climb to the same rank in Dota with some time. At the end of the day, all you need to do is hit your spells and utilize your knowledge of laning, spell usage, and positioning that you learned in LoL just adapted to the new heroes and mechanics.
I think if you have the mindset that it's going to be the same as LoL, you won't reach the same rank easily. There's a lot of nuances in the game that you need to learn or even master to get better that aren't in league. Farming efficiency through good farming patterns and remembering to stack camps, pulling, blocking, denying, building the right items, using actual items the right way. There's also game mechanics like castpoints and turnrates that affects the game. Some items and abilities can only be used when you're facing the enemy so you need to turn. Lots of bullshit things in Dota that if you're new and you encounter it, it looks like a bug but it's actually clever use of the game mechanics like managing tower aggro by "A" clicking your own creeps on the right time. This means the opposing enemy can hit you under tower while the tower not aggroing to him.
@@chikin6146 yeah definitely try to learn the mechanics, but don't let them intimidate you. I have a friend who was divine before the patch (currently ancient, but he'll hit divine again as were 14-1 in our last couple of games). He was a diamond 1 player in LoL and immediately was good at Dota. He has a 78% win rate on FV and yesterday a hero on the enemy team went invisible and he didn't Chrono him. I asked why didn't he Chrono and he said "he went invisible". A 78% win rate in divine, and he didn't know Chrono reveals invis units.

i think you should use the default keybinds for items. Its easier to press zxc with ur thumb instead of 123. U can also double tap the item key to cast it on urself like your number 3 item force staff
I recommend you get smaller items early. Also if you are confused as to how a hero works, go to the top left and bring up the hero menu and look at it while you are dead or something.

basic stuff to understand of dota (I play both). Bot lane goes the adc and sup if you're radiant, if you're dire the "top" goes bot-lane with another sup (there's no jg), same thing with top-lane. As a support most of the time only you put the wards. You're also responsible to be annoying af using skills. it doesn't matter much if you die a lot because then your adc can afk jg for 20min and you can win. To make things even easier for your adc you can "stack camps" in dota every minute the jg respawn if hit the camp and run away to make them get far from the camp a new group will spawn so now you got 2 groups in one camp. Also another concept it's for "pull" basically the same as "stack a camp" just that you try to get hit from the camp when "minions" are close so your minions start attacking the camp, this is the form of "denied" the wave like in league you push hard so the tower kills the minions. And finally you can also literally can denied "minions", just need to "force" attack under a low health "minion" to kill it.
@@studeogames it is. Still personally I've being playing more league. It's just way easier and fun to play with friend. Also I don't mean easier in a bad way, I meant it that the learning curve it's way smoother than dota 2 and thanks to that you can just invite someone who never played a moba before and have a lot of fun. In dota you cant invite anyone, it's just too difficult to teach someone and having fun at the same time

Oh and for a few hero recommendations you could consider:
1) Dragon Knight, for a tanky, fairly simple to play, hero that usually goes mid but can at least function basically anywhere.

Thanks! I’ll feel like I’m losing but then my teammate will literally come and one shot people. It’s perfect!
For Medusa, when you attack her she mitigates some damage by having it subtract from her mana first. Secondly, be sure when shopping to click on the neutrals tab and pick up a token. You get a "free" neutral item, it goes in that empty slot you had.
The damage mitigation is fair and balanced, clearly. I’ll check that tab next time🫡

As an immortal player (I think it’s the equivalent of challenger in league?) this video made me so nostalgic of what it was like when I first started playing dota 10 years ago
Some heroes, especially supports, cannot 1v1 core heroes like medusa, doom, Lina etc. Also, score doesn’t matter. Someone can be 0-8 and still come back and carry the game. Just be sure to send your courier to you once you buy items. Items with the little red circle icon next to it are items that can only be bought at the secret shop. You cant buy any other items at the secret shop
So basically, I’m on the path to challenger? Also, you can’t 1v1 carry’s in league either but apparently I didn’t make that connection in my mind🤣
@@studeogames oh you gonna love it when i tell u some support heroes are made to kill carries in dota to ruin their day, and tell them "fuck you your dead I dare you to come back to lane".

Thanks the checking out the vid🫶🏼
Learning curve is more like a learning right angle 💀 but thanks for the advice and checking out the channel 🫶🏼 got more on the way

as a League and Dota 2 player i can tell you that Dota is a lot more technical than League, there are a lot of things that just dont exist in league like pulling creep lanes and stacking neutral camps and stuff like that wich is bind to the ingame time.
Dota feels more like a strategy game but league feels more like battle arena. Or I just suck at league and play it like one
@@studeogames dota is definitely more of a strategy game and knowing what to do goes further than having higher mechanical skills
Ah okay these are helpful, gonna do these! The game. It automatically making items self cast is wild lmao. Thanks 🫶🏼
@@studeogames My pleasure. Dota has many little hidden things that help you a lot.
when you die by any hero, you could read that hero's skills by clicking that hero's portrait on top of the screen to know its skills
Bold of you to assume I can read 💀 I’ll try it 🤣
So a tower will aggro onto whenever you issue an attack command (right click or a-click) on an enemy hero while your hero is within the towers aggro range (which is a slightly smaller aoe than their attack range) if a tower aggros you, you can issue a force attack command (a+left click by default) on an allied unit (creep or hero) in the towers range and the tower will start attacking that unit instead.
Thanks for this! I’ll try it during my live stream Friday night at 8pm 🫶🏼

While item/skill that can flash you is common buy or inherent in some hero, not everyone will buy it or able to so having that early stun really help your team to position themselves while avoiding enemy cc.

I like to make it hard for myself, clearly🤣
so why doesnt that champ take any damage ??
Bc they’re total bs😎 or their mana shield or something idk
I asked why didn't he Chrono and he said "he went invisible". A 78% win rate in divine, and he didn't know Chrono reveals invis units.
Trying my best but there’s a million more mechanics to learn 🫡 thanks everyone 🫶🏼

Nice video 👍
basic stuff to understand of dota (I play both).
