Good thing you have some basic from the LoL.
You are doing pretty good in this match. I have some advice on hoodwink.
    1. You can right click on your Q skill icon to toggle it to make it always plant a tree.
    2. Maelstrom and Gleipnir is a very good item for hoodwink.
    3. Your position on fights is a bit too front. Keep circling on the rim or at your skill range. Buying aether lense is a good option sometimes.
    Hope you enjoy the game

@@yoncreator Something I noticed as someone that plays both League and Dota, fog and vision are far more important in Dota than in League. Ganks in dota often occur by nobody being on the map then suddenly 3-4 enemies are ontop of you. Playing from fog and knowing how to break line of sight with trees is integral to positioning for teamfights in dota. In League it's much easier to predict these kind of from-fog engages because walls and bushes are permanent and engage ranges are not your entire screen. Trees, high-vs-low ground, as well as day/night in dota add a lot more variability in how vision plays into a teamfight or gank.
Also, good job learning the game. I'm the only one among my friends that likes to play multiple MOBAs and enjoys the different flavors of the genre. Glad to see someone enjoy learning the game rather than just getting frustrated by going in blind then quitting.

If this is an early game of yours I'm guessing you did a fair amount of research into the items etc., because of your purchases and all.
And when playing Hoodwink, I sometimes go first item Arcane Boots, as mana is the thing I often struggle with most with that hero.
Hoodwink has excellent spells, but what good are they if you can't cast them?

My League buddy thought me that in league as a support you are supposed to be close to your core in a straight line perpendicular to the lane for "maximum kill threat". So eventually I started doing the same thing with some of my heroes in Dota and my kills in lane skyrocketed! I think both fandoms can learn from each other in multiple ways

next items are probably something like Daedalus (for crit procs with your acorns) or pike (for attack distance being able to either close gaps or open gaps)
late game can be skadi/bkb/windwaker/aghs depending on situation (whether u need more control or kiting)
hood is the kind of support hero that can transition into high damage core ... the items I mentioned kinda reflect that

I was looking for a LOL player to start a Dota series, so I hope you will make more videos like this one. It was well made and I especially liked the part with the last hitting under the tower. :D Dota has a lot of intriguing techniques and mechanics so it is tough to master, it can be too much, especially in turbo where everything is sped up, so I recommend all pick. But your actions have a greater impact, so you must be careful. (perhaps you have played all pick when you said you played more games), but anyways. I can talk about this for hours, but in short, if you are interested in learning Dota, I would recommend a "friend" with Dota knowledge on call and start with playing against bots first, so you can pause and talk about mechanics just as they happen. Cheers! Have a great day!

Hey thank you for watching and leaving a thoughtful comment! Glad you enjoyed that part about last hitting under the tower - it surprisingly took a while to create that in the editor.
I definitely play only all pick or ranked now. I quickly realized turbo isn't as fun as normal mode for me.
Dota is definitely very difficult in the sense that there are mechanics and concepts that are so new and foreign in comparison to League. I'd say that League is a lot more streamlined and simple in terms of mechanics while Dota has some really wild mechanics (e.g. blocking camps, stacking camps, BKB, etc).

Good stuff man, I learned to play with Bounty Hunter myself. Things look good to me! You'll fix most of the mistakes you made on your own. Just remember to use your item, spam those low cd items like solar or hood, you can sell things in turbo from anywhere too so getting rid of your wand and tangos. Lastly the crystalis, crit stick, you just had too many items near the end. Hood is a semi carry/support so she usually builds a little support like Rod of Atos, and or Glimmer first, then Gliepnir, Desolator, Daedalus, etc.

with hoodwik I love to build Maelstrom first item, it has a powerful interaction with your Q. And allows you to easy farm lane and jungle. After that Desolator, then whatever fits against the enemy. Give it a try! At the end you got the combo, Q to the ground to create the tree, E to stun with that tree, charge ult while enemy is stunned. I'm a noob too, but that's the build I had more success with this hero :p also remember that your E allows you to walk through the trees, for easy scape and easy positioning for the combo!

Worst move you can do when you're learning DotA2, hop on a turbo match. Turbo is the worst place for noobs and newbies to learn how to play the game. If you're a noob or newbie to the game, always play either Ranked or Normal as you'll get queued with players of your same skill set and DO NOT queue on Turbo or Ability Draft as that's a game mode for Advanced Players (meaning players who have actually mastered the game on all heroes and their skills as well as knowing beyond the basic gameplay of the game). It is in the description of the game modes. Normal and Ranked helps you learn the game at a good pace while jumping into Turbo when you're learning is so bad that even if you died a few times, the gap on exp and gold is huge and will be hard to catch up unless the other team makes mistakes. In Turbo, you get matched with Advanced Players hence you will definitely be bullied when you're a noob or newbie. Only idiots who are noobs think that, "it's only Turbo" and gets wrecked on it then blames their team when they themselves aren't good enough.
Once again, NOOBS = Normal/Ranked, ADVANCED PLAYERS = Turbo/Ability Draft.

@@xdplayah ahahaha very true. But you're missing the main point of OP's comment. It is the worst place to learn dota2. Turbo is for the oldies still wanting to play dota 2, but not have time to hop on a 30 -60 minute game. Thats me btw. Turbo mechanics are a bit different in terms of gold, experience and priorities. So it is way better to play dota 2 in normal/ ranked if you truly want to learn and play the game properly.

Legitimately, good sh*t. small tip; you can alt cast your q to always create a tree BUT lose the ability for it to lock onto someone... but hey if you're using it primarily to stun, it's good enough and it still bounces to a random enemy after that. You can toggle this with alt+q btw or just right clicking the ability button (but that's kinda slow).

So glad u try dota, after play dota, I think winning in LOL gonna taste different, hahaha. Cause that what I feel, after playing other moba, I`m glad dota is my first moba . Just little tips, when starting game, ask ur lanning friend, are u carry or support, if he said carry, then u must do support. Learn what support must do. If u play hoodwink, and u play as pos 4 (soft support), u must make sure ur offlane survive the lanning phase, harras enemy support and carry, block neutral camp with sentry, and rotate to mid, to help kill their pos 2 (midlaner carry). U can also stacking ur ancient if ur pos 3 have bad lanning phase, they can recover latter. Buy support item first, like arcane boot , rod of atos, force staff or eul can really have impact in game. Anyway good luck.

Good play, actually! Hoodwink is kinda squishy against that gang of thugs, but you lived. Also, tactically speaking, Sheepstick is a crucial pick, both for keeping you alive and playing against Ember and Huskar.

    • @yoncreator
      @yoncreator  5 месяцев назад +1

I had to look up what "sheepstick" was and I realize it's Scythe of Vyse! I love that item, and I wanna build it every time I can. Too bad it turns them into pigs instead of sheeps in dota 2 though :(

    • @MessiahOfRodents
      @MessiahOfRodents 4 месяца назад +1

Gelphnir is a more reasonable option on wink imo, the maelstrom acceleates your farm, the longer range lets you catch people and then walk closer to bushwack, and its cheaper. In turbo if you're getting dove a bunch, the scythe is good, but in a regular game you will not have the money until really late

I'd love to see more "learning dota" gameplay from league enjoyers. If you haven't tried them already, Dawnbreaker is basically a reworked Leona (plays kind of the same) and the new support Ringmaster has league design philosophy written all over his kit

Hoodwink has a lot of strong abilities, good choice for your first hero. You were landing your stuns and not dying very much for a new player, you were contributing just with that.

I noticed that you keep clicking the enemies when pressing your Q then following it up with your W but there is no stun since there is no tree for the enemies to get tangled on. As hoodwink, you can right click your Q or press CTRL + Q to use the alternate cast for the spell (the spell's icon will change as well if you do this). In this case, hoodwink's acorn shot will always plant a tree no matter if you click the enemy or not allowing you to instantly throw your W to stun enemies.
    Also, welcome to DotA

man you got a new fan going to watch your content also try gleipnir on hood i dont know if it writen on the acorn description but it triggers orb effects so it can trigger chain lightning also its a nice way to set up your stun and ulti oh about hitting ulti you dont have to max it out what most players do is after the stun ended fire your ulti so it doesnt give them time do dodge
if you want to try a combo on hoodwink use acorn stun ulti while ulti is channeling use gleipnir to hold and fire max damage ulti
Good luck with your next game

    You asked about thoughts
2:35 that's why it's good to get iron branch as a Hoodwink so you can just plant a tree and then throw your second spell. people often take Q first since it slows people
2:46 he probably realised that he's dead since he's in a range of PB attack. or just a missclick. we'll never know the truth.
3:00 you dont have to click every item in your quick purchase slot, just RMB on the item to buy everything you need
4:22 you dont have to charge your ult to do a lot of damage, actually full damage comes after 3 second i think, and in this case you just needed like 2 sec to kill Pudge
4:37-4:46 use your stick, use your stick, USE YOUR STICK
    5:08 almost clean kill
5:48 if you have hex you should engage with hex first since Q-W combo can be easily denied by bkb. especially in this case - hex instantly kills illusions
6:20 badrrrrr aim. good try tho
6:27 you can use items btw while aiming with ulti, in this case you had hex off cooldown right when your W ended
    6:37 nice catch
7:08 nice catch, but use your hex with boomerang and veil of discord and then ulti
    7:32 good catch
    8:04 again, hex first
    Anyway, welcome to dota!

absolutely great gameplay with hoodwink, I would love to play with you since you set up a ton of team fights with the q into w, also yeah sometimes if you're not certain engaging is 100% win just let some of the tanks try and soak up the worst abilities the enemy has so you can try going alll in with no fear of dying instantly. At least it's what I concluded as a new player
