- Everyone kept telling us about this one, and all they said was true. BLACKPINK's "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du is phenomenal. No wonder it blew up and took these ladies into mega-stardom.

The message behind Jisoo scene is that some people will be supportive and fake fans when they're successfull, but as soon as they fall or do a mistake, fake fans will turn into haters and point their guns at them,
Wow...powerful message, and undoubtedly true.
Not only their guns, but they’ll use their phones as weapons (keyboard warriors). Or at least that’s how I interpreted it

JISOO's scene has several interpretations but the most real is that this scene reflects the daily life of BLACKPINK and kpop idols in general.
8:14 In the first scene we see her fans with their faces uncovered taking photos of her image,
9:34 but when The idol stumbles or falls, those supposed fans become the first to attack you anonymously on social networks, that's why they have balaclavas and use phones as guns because anonymity is the haters' greatest weapon on social networks.

Blackpink has also released "The Making of" their Music Videos. It's a fascinating journey of how hard they work. YG rents the studio and they use it almost every minute. Most times they shoot in 12+ hour shifts. Imagine trying to do Choreography at 4 a.m.? The set building, the re-takes. It's amazing to see it done.
We need to watch some of those at some point.
Rosé is an amazing vocalist, her vocal tone is unique.
If I had to describe the members with one word I'd say:
JENNIE - Fierce
LISA - Swag
JISOO-Classic
ROSÉ - Sensitive

Seeing Rose with that red hair and hearing her angelic voice in this mv got me into kpop back in 2018. So nostalgic.
The final shot in the video ( 11:41 )was a challenge, according to the members. They used real pink smoke bombs, set off behind panes of glass. When they started rolling camera they had to sit perfectly still and not blink until the director yelled "Cut!", then they had to quickly sprint off the set because the pink smoke came around the glass and enveloped the entire studio!
The effect was amazing. We didn't mention it in the video, probably due to visual overload, but we also liked the beginning when list threw the dust.
FYI if you do plan on checking out one of Rosé's solos, keep in mind that ON THE GROUND is more in the "pop" genre while GONE is a slower "ballad".
Appreciate that. Somehow with her voice Coach will probably like it no matter what. We recorded a couple of reactions to their solo work today but will keep it under wraps until edited and scheduled.

*Mr. and Mrs. Coach,* 😎👌this song DDU DU DDU DU is part of the group's third mini-album called "SQUARE UP" from 2018 which has 4 spectacular songs: REALLY, SEE U LATER, FOREVER YOUNG and DDU DU DDU DU (which is the main and it is the only one with MV) however FOREVER YOUNG and REALLY (for me) are the best songs on the album, I love them.
DDU DU DDU DU is not only an icon in the history of BLACKPINK but is a legend in the history of kpop, it marked a before and after for the group and for the entire industry, in November 2019 it was the first song of a kpop group (in all history) to reach one billion views and in 2023 they achieved another record which was to reach 2 billion views with a song, the first and only kpop group to achieve it (in all history), I recommend DDU DU DDU DU (live COACHELLA 2019) or watch his Dance practice that has already reached 497 million views.

One of the reasons I love BlackPink is because they almost always have indirect meanings, Easter eggs, and symbolism. This MV is full of that. Here are some, but not all of them in this song.
@3:33 Colorful Jennie sits at the top level of 3 consecutively larger chess boards implying she is playing at the top level. Her colorful outfit implies she is a queen that doesn't play by the black and white rules of chess.

As you've seen by now their videos are visual overload, but I wanted to point something out that most people don't catch. If you watch the video right after Rosé's red dress scene ( 10:58 in your reaction) you see the girls walking down a hallway with a triangular shaped door sliding towards them. They are actually inside the temple that you see during the final dance break. At 11:05 they emerge from the temple while the door is still moving forward, and when the dance break starts you can see the door finally seal the temple closed! By the way the set is based on a Korean temple design.
Wow...certainly did not notice that. I think you'd have to watch these multiple times to catch everything.

You guys are adorable and crack me up! I am the biggest BLINK. I am a 50 year old American male, married, father of 2 boys (15, 20). My family thinks I am insane, but I heard BLACKPINK 2 years ago and fell down the BP and KPop rabbit hole and may never find my way out! 😂. You guys should try GIDLE next. They are getting HUGE! They write and produce all their songs. Very talented. I would start with: “TomBoy”, “My Bag”, “Nude”, and some new songs from the past week off their new 100% English album- “I Do” is beautiful. There are 2 versions of the video - do the one which is more like a move with a boy who meets aliens that are the girls from the band (the other version is on top if a NYC hotel at night, also cool). Their latest song/video last week is called “I Want That” and is a cinematic quality story of women fighting back against abusive men, but the song is a GREAT dance song!

When the ladies sing the 'Ddu Ddu Du' line, they point finger guns.
Rose' was born of Korean ancestry but she was born in New Zealand and grew up in Australia (she counts herself as Australian which is what she sounds like when she speaks English). Aussies are tough people and have been known to handle weapons pretty well while they are in the wilds. Rose' saying 'come through with that uh, uh-huh' might be talking about something BESIDES 'ddu ddu du', something bigger than simple handguns.
I think it's along the lines of 'Whatcha gonna do when I come through with the shotgun, rather than the little pea-shooters the other girls have?' Rose' is a baddie, no doubt in my mind. Maybe even a real gangster. She's the tallest member as well (possibly due to a better well-rounded diet in Aussie than what Jisoo and Jennie got in Korea).
Her voice just captivates Coach.

TOURING DATA a few days ago confirmed that the BORN PINK WORLD TOUR has already reached 260 million dollars, OFFICIALLY confirming that it is the biggest kpop tour of all time, surpassing the 247 million dollars of the LOVE YOURSELF tour. BTS from 2018-2019, which was the one that held the record, the most incredible thing is that the BLACKPINK tour still has 10 more dates to count, so it is imminent that it will exceed 310 million dollars when counting the 66 total dates, We have to wait for the final data, however we already have the record, so congratulations to BLINK and BLACKPINK.

All Four girls are very talented and attractive, also if your getting into Kpop and you also like rock or metal. Well if you enjoy Blackpink, baby metal may very well blow your minds. Kpop has been a rabbit hole for me, and I'm not sure if it will end, or if indeed I want it to. I'm a gamer and I watched a skins music video, by Riot games who make league of legends. They created a virtual girl group, from characters called hero's in their game. It's essentially to promote and sell skins, Two of the voices for this virtual girl group KDA. Are members of a Kpop girl group G-idle, that then led me on to Blackpink, BTS, Chung ha, baby metal and currently New Jeans. It's surprising how a genre of music I knew little about, has me deep diving into all corners of this fascinating musical art.
We think this is an enormous rabbit hole we've gone down. LOL

To get to know the members individually I'd highly recommend A Long Guide To BLACKPINK 2023 (it's a lot more Updated however the Crack Guide To BLACKPINK 2020 is really good too) and although there isn't MV's for some of their songs they have Lyric Videos that let you know who's singing/rapping what like: Pretty Savage *but there are Live Performances of it* Crazy Over You, Love To Hate Me and You Never Know *both have Live Performances or Lyric Videos, Forever Young *Has Dance Practice Vid & Lyric, Really, See U Later (all from The Album & Square 1-2 etc.) more recent Songs from their Born Pink Album: *Lyric and Live Performances; *Typa Girl, *Yeah Yeah Yeah, Hard To Love ( All Rose *pronounced like the Ro-Say*, The Happiest Girl, *Tally and Ready For Love ( a collab With PUBG Video Game so the MV is Animated!! They also have a Mobile Game Called BLACKPINK THE GAME with a Song Called THE GIRLS. There's an entire Documentary that they did in 2020 on Netflix and then for their most recent Global Tour they did a bts/vlog style of the Tour and everything in-between they're called BPM Roll and as of now there are 32 of them *like being asked back to Coachella (they performed there back in 2019 in a smaller Stage The Sahara Tent but even that was a Huge Deal.. 4 years later while on Tour in Paris the Main Guy Paul Tollett, Co-founder of Coachella officially invited BLACKPINK to Fully Headline Coachella 2023!! They absolutely killed it too!! Especially considering they were on tour and came up with alternate/dif Set Lists and Choreography then after the two weekends went right back to touring lol I love these Talented, Genuine, Smart, Artistic, Beautiful, Charasmatic and Hilarious Women that make BLACKPINK who they are!! Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa 🖤💗 also Since Coach loves Rose's Voice highly recommend Her Sea Of Hope Live Performances, Slow Dancing in a Burning Room and so many more Covers and her own songs as well!!

Coach, did you know that BlackPink had a video showing behind the scenes of them making their music videos. Jisoo explained, in the making of D4 video, that her scene how these stars are idolized right to the point when they stumble and fall, at which point the crowd will turn against you.
We've read in the comments about the making of the MV videos. That Jisoo scene was short but a powerful statement.

ROSÉ : when I hear her name I remember the word "ARTIST" her passion for music is admirable, she is person with versatile artistic genius, she loves drawing, plays instrument most importantly she has thirst for music melody.. also she is so emotional

Jisoo's falling scene is a commentary on the hateful social media/netizens that have lead to numerous suicides of Kpop Idols and actors in Korea. At first the men are solely focused on "Celebrity Jisoo", and have no interest in the real person Jisoo even though she was standing right next to them. Only when she falls do they turn their attention to "Real Jisoo". The fall symbolizes some type of mishap on Jisoo's part, like maybe dating the wrong person or having a bad performance or being considered the weak link of the group (which was the real life criticism of Jisoo with netizens calling her the "Blackhole of Blackpink" and alleging she added nothing but a pretty face). Each of the members have faced hatred. Lisa was threatened with physical violence for not being Korean. Jennie actually received the worst hate from some so called "Blinks" who accused her of being a spoiled brat and lazy dancer and demanding that she be fired from Blackpink. Back to symbolism. After Jisoo falls, all of the sudden the men turn into masked assassins pointing their camera phones as weapons to finish her off now that she is injured and vulnerable. Phones are used by internet trolls to destroy the reputation and attack and harass celebrities on social media. However, Jisoo stands defiantly back up, knowing full well the flood of hate she is about to face, determined not to hide, not to let them drive her to suicide, not to let the haters "win".
Oh, my, we did not know about the suicides. Some people have mentioned that Lisa got a lot of hate for not being Korean. That is awful enough, but the suicides...just wow. So sorry to hear that.

The all-girl K-pop group BLACKPINK-composed of Lisa, Rosé, Jennie and Jisoo-virtually stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live and shared how they came up with their group name.
"BLACKPINK is-we kind of felt like there's two colors that represented us the most ‘cause we're very girly but at the same time we're very savage too," Rosé explained for the group. "We have a song called ‘Pretty Savage' and it kind of goes with ‘black pink' and so we thought it described us the best."
