The Vado 4.0 sure packs a punch at the price! My biggest takeaway from the ride & test has to be the high capacity 710Wh battery combined with the 70Nm torque motor. Yes, there are comparable models available with more powerful (80-90Nm torque) motors, but the efficiency of the 70Nm torque motor is going to allow for a longer range when paired with the 710Wh battery. In relatable gas milage terms, if you have a 10 gallon gas tank and your car has 200hp, you will get much better MPG's than a car with that same 10 gallon gas tank and 300hp motor! That should be your thought when comparing the Vado 4.0 vs 5.0. The 4.0's 70Nm motor also had no problem holding me at top speed with little effort pedaling on my end. Overall, I think the price is spot on and you get great value with the changes made to this years 2022 4.0! It's definitely worth a test ride.
Have you tested the belt drive version, especially up hills?
@@sdworman I've yet to extensively test the belt drive Vado. However, I did spin a customers Vado around the neighborhood and thoroughly enjoyed it! With that being said, the only issue you'd have to consider with a belt drive is the gear ratio of the Enviolo. It will do fine on steep hills but you'll more than likely have to kick it up into turbo mode! The chain drives will have a wider gear range allowing you to spin a higher cadence on steeper terrain.

My wife purchased one in March. She loves it. It is comfortable, has a long range, is plenty powerful, and has been stone reliable.
Awesome bike! I've put 1,600 miles on since purchasing in Feb, and has become my work commuter and all around rider. Incredibly fun and smooth to ride.
I have a Vado 4.0, and this review is right on. It's an excellent bike, and well worth the cost.

I have the Vado 3.0 with 710 wh battery and man oh man, this bicycle is smooth, handling is great with these tires, and has replaced my car as the vehicle which I now use to buy groceries. Honestly this is my first e-bike and I couldn't have asked for more. I can honestly say that my life has changed for the better because of this purchase. Specially now that I am getting way more exercise and feeling great. I am actually looking for excuses to go out and ride the bike 😀
i was disappointed to not see many videos or comments on the 3.0 so thank you for yours! It is 1.5k cad cheaper so far more affordable but was worried it wouldnt be worth the money. Sounds like i would still enjoy a 3.0:)
Nice video and review. About a month ago I purchased a Turbo Vado 5.0 for my wife. It is everything you say it is. Enough suspension to smooth out bumps, plenty of power and a very stable ride. She has the automatic transmission which takes some getting used to but it's a very sweet ride. I keep taking it out because it's so fun to ride. I still prefer my Bulls mountain bike and riding in the hills but for the street and wide dirt roads, the Turbo Vado is a lot of fun. (from Thousand Oaks)

Many test drive videos shows bicycles as motorcycles; those videos don't explain their features while riding; many of them don't take the bike to their max; doesn't seem to enjoy riding and explaining;; etc.
What would happen if this bike were yours?, would It match your requirements?, would It surpass some common challenges?, would It amaze you?,...
After only a few hundred dry miles from new I discovered pit marks on the chrome stanchions of my Vado 4.0 2022. Specialized told me to ask my dealer to put in a warranty claim to SR Suntour but they say rust is not covered under warranty. I am not impressed that a brand new £4000 bike can suffer rust despite never actually getting wet (UK weather is poor but I've never had this happen before) and that it is not covered by warranty. BEWARE !
Curious why would a purchase this instead of the Tero? It seems if a person likes to venture out on trails now and then, the Ter may be the preferred all-around bike?
I recently narrowed down my choice to between the Trek Allant+ 7s and the Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0. I own a '06 Trek 7500 Multitrack that I've used and kept in very good condition since it was new. One of my thoughts was to stay brand loyal to Trek but Specialized has a lot to offer in the Turbo Vado 4.0. I recently test rode one at Specialized in Boulder and really liked it. I'm saving for one in the White Mountains finish like the one here being reviewed. I should have my first ebike to enjoy by May of this year.
I have a hard time spending 4500 on something that might be complete shit in less than 5k miles
