Next month April I’m getting delivery of my Radica for my Tacoma short bed I got it loaded with pretty much every option sliding windows both sides tail window the front cab window and roof bubble, except didn’t get the solar panel I have my own 180 watt portable Yeti
Some stained wood paneling inside would look awesome. I love this camper shell. I like what you did to with the carpeting and the placards on the roof. Makes it feel more home like inside
And this thing will be useful even when you’re not camping where is one of those tents just sits on your truck year round blocking or you have can take it off and on.
I'm really liking these toppers. They look really well made and durable. Some toppers that are close in price seem both really heavy and fragile when it comes to tree limbs rubbing and puncturing them. The only thing that looks concerning is those wires up top that are exposed to hazards like limbs catching or rubbing them and uv exposure shortening their outer jacket's lifetime. Thanks for sharing what looks like one of the best made and functional toppers I've seen. Safe and happy travels Sir. Also, hopefully you have a propane and co detector in there somewhere.
Nice! Hopefully you'll have many years of fun with your Moonlander. And maybe someday you can get a truck with a 6' or 6.5' bed! Those Bel-Air campers are made in SoCal and I've seen them around here for about 40 years. I had one in 1990. They are decent, but not good for off-roading and they won't last forever due to the wood frame (which is only stapled together if I recall correctly).
I have looked for 2 years fpr a topper that i like and is affordable! Thank god thus is better than any i have sen. And is cheaper. Can these be financed?
Hello, I just order my Moonlander. I’m super excited. I definitely know that I will need more than a 100w of solar. How difficult was it to add more solar on the diamond plate roof?
Thanks for the video curious if you think having one of these with a more lower profile roof is doable, I’m not talking flush with the cab just not so hi. Or would it be way to cramped. Would love something like this that would still clear standard garage, also at 5,7 definitely don’t need sides that stick out so far.
I have a MoonLander on order, scheduled to be completed in June! It’ll be going on my 2022 Frontier. I had question regarding your sleeping platform, if you don’t mind. What mattress are you using and what are the sizes of your two sleeping platforms? I’ll be doing solo trips and was wondering what size I should have one of the platforms for said solo trips. Thanks!
I have two sleeping panels which together cover the entire truck bed. One is 38 inches and the other is 16 inches. Currently I have the larger one in and it’s a standard trip fold 4 inch mattress off Amazon. It’s a twin size that’s 38 x 75 inches. Fits perfect. There’s a lot of brands on Amazon with this size. Congrats on your Moonlander! I paid full price for mine so not affiliated but I don’t regret it at all. Rad guys and a rad company.
@@TheJuniperLab thanks for the quick reply! I’m super pumped to get mine. I love about an hour north of Denver and drove down a few months back to talk to Luke and check them out in person. Made me so much more excited to get it. Love the setup, by the way!
for the price you get so much, was looking at Packout Campers and Tune M1 Camper before RADICA and im sold . didnt like the cave like comment so i will splurge for an extra window thank you
Yes but that’s a tailgate seal issue not from the Moonlander. I have a couple gaps in my tail gate I need to seal. I need to do a video on fixes for that.
Ordered mine in September with expected April delivery. It never occurred to me that the fan would be connected to the power inside. I assumed, like the brake light option, it would be wired to the truck's power. Did you get them to install a standard brake light instead of their upgraded brake light set-up?
You could probably ask to get it wired directly to the starter battery. That would be ideal honestly. I have the standard brake light option. I already had the wire harness installed so it was easy plug and play.
@@TheJuniperLab I've seen photos both with and without a small standard brake light mounted at the top. Does it come standard with the topper? I don't want the elaborate option they offer.
It’s stock but with a 5 foot truck bed it doesn’t leave a lot of extra room. This comes with two bed panels so currently, when it’s just me, I use the smaller bed panel and I get quite a bit more space inside. I really need to do another video.
@@TheJuniperLabDid the suspension change the ride height of your truck? Is it lifted?I have a stock 2019 Frontier SV, and am seriously considering one of these but am also limited by an 8ft garage height.
@dustinstalcup9389 I didn’t measure before and after but if it did it’s extremely minimal. With the upgraded rear leaf springs the height with the moon lander is 7 feet 7 inches.
Yeah I wish I had more windows for light. My thought initially was security but it’s not ideal when you heat things going on outside and don’t have any view of it 😬
Not in mine. I’m not sure how that would change with a full size truck though. It’s about 5 feet. So can’t stand up, sadly. I’d like to see a version with a 6 foot from the bed to the roof to allow for standing. I know Radica is adding options but I’m not sure if that’ll be an option in the future.
You’re right. I have the two panels which when combined would be a full size bed. With my second panel removed it’s a perfect twin size bed. The queen is an option for a full size truck. Thanks for the comment and making me clarify :)
@@TheJuniperLab Awesome topper, can't wait for my install. A bit far for me, 1000 miles from Denver, but will try to make the most of the trip out there. What is your current camper set up?
Moonlander, once I get my 24 Taco, but must have the rooftop window.
Soft topper on 5ft bed. Soon flatbed amd more options

Very cool concept. I would take this over a rooftop tent any day of the week.
Same. It’s really nice when the weather sucks. The zero set up time and then if it’s windy way better than hearing canvas blow around all night.
@@TheJuniperLab That is the fun part though.

@MJ-zo5gb the bed platform is easy to remove and then you have a giant space for moving items. It’s great.

Amazing set up. Can it come a bit more narrow ? Like 6 ft

With how the bed sits on your truck bed rails I imagine it would be pretty tight for sleeping.
You mentioned drop in fuel economy on the old set up. Have you noticed a mpg set back from your stock vehicle with the moonlander on?
Not as much as the cabover that’s for sure

A smaller brake light is standard but the larger light bar is an upgrade. They have more info on their website.

What do you find annoying about the automatic maxair fan? I will get my moonlander in November and really want to not make any mistakes.
Having the fan overall is nice when it’s hot but the auto features are annoying. 100 percent I would get it again though. Really helps.

Can you tell me how much your average mpg dropped w the Moonlander? Thanks.
It dropped about 1 MPG on average with city and highway driving at full speed. If I stay at 60 it’s about the same as stock.
Thanks for that info! A unique topper for sure!
How's the visibility with the mirrors?
It's not bad. I always double check anyways but I don't find it any more limiting than any other camper or shell.
