I must admit, the 545 scales are pretty awesome though! I have been using them frequently for the last few months and been getting great (and accurate) results with them!
I got a RD-545HR this week. Used it on friday and did a dexa scan back to back in the same conditions of hydritation and fasted state. Tanita : 25,5% body fat. Dexa : 21,5% body fat. The main difference was in the trunk fat. The rest was pretty much the same.

What about the consistency of the measurements, though? I have the RD-953 and I must say I am a bit disappointed. I meticulously do everything necessary for accurate measurement, and I see that in consecutive measurements within a 5-minute interval, there can be a deviation of up to 1.5% - 2% body fat. This is a huge deviation for me, I would like to know before buying such an expensive scale, to what extent because it is segmented, it won't have such deviations.

Hey, great question, I did cover this in the RD 953 video - there is a slight difference, but it was/is microscopic. The real difference between the two scales is the segmental readings on the 545s. I really like knowing if I am building muscle in my legs and arms separately so the 545s work great for me.

How many profiles can be added on the app. I have a private medical practice and would like to assess multiple patients. Does the device or app allow you to save multiple profiles
Hey! Good question! And one I been asked in the past so had a think about it..... You can have 4 users on the app. But there could be a couple of ways around this... Set one up as a 'guest' or 'client' name and use that to take readings. You won't be able to use the trend charts though but could record the results in a spreadsheet. or.... have the client download the Tanita app and store all their data on their phone. Both of those could work. My preference would be the first one then you record the measurements in a spreadsheet and use fancy formulas to work out progress 😀 Does that help?
My Tanita scales say I have average bone weight at 2.2kgs out of 64kgs weight. However, I’ve just been diagnosed with osteoporosis at -2.7. Now I’ve lost confidence in Tanita’s calculation.

Greetings from Russia! :) Please kindly keep in mind that particularly this Tanita product i(545) is not intended for commercial use implying a multiple measurements within a short period of time. Some guys here, in Moscow, did some experiment with Tanita RD-545. They've done consecutive measurements one after another, until the device got broken. The maximum number of measurements they managed to get was - 26. There are some professional Tanita scales intended for the commercial use. They are substantially more expensive, but sensors of such models allow for an all day non stop usage. Also, it makes sense to mention that there is no difference in accuracy between the consumer and the professional models, as the technology behind is the same. But the durability of sensors for different category of scales - is the issue, and it makes perfect sense. Otherwise the 545 model would keel the sales of all the professional devices. Personally I approve such a differentiation - because it allows me and other consumers like me to have at home a great devise with a top accuracy for a relatively affordable price. The only thing is that I wish that Tanita would emphasise these points at their website - 1) No difference in accuracy of professional and consumer type of scales, so that one wouldn't think that measurements at gym or at medical clinic are more accurate. 2) There is a difference though is in a number of consecutive measurements that the scales can sustain without being damaged. :) (sorry for a long read)
The only accurate way to measure all the stats this scale claims to do is by using a DEXA scan. Having tried many of the body scan scales I have found them to be wildly inaccurate. I hope this one is a lot better considering the price but I have my doubts. I would like to see these scales compared to a DEXA scan to see how accurate they really are.
Can you export a report sheet to your phone in guest mode? Or do you only get a few readings on the screen and thats it? I suppose not as detailed as a “user”?
Hey Dirk, I will admit, I do not know the answer to this because I have all the users set up on the scales/app. I will do a test this weekend and let you know 👌🏼
@@LauraTryUK Hey, that would be very nice. I'm really interested in this for personal use. But i got a sportsmassage business and some clients could be interested in those results also. In guest mode having such detailed info would be very nice :). Or can they all install the app themselfs and so have kind of 'unlimited' users (4 per app installation)?
@@dirkmommaerts I did a test.... the guest mode shows the results on screen and not on the app. Although... you had a really good idea and the client can set up the scales and app to their phone - that is a REALLY GREAT idea! That way they can see the charts, and trends and get all the info for themselves. Fabulous! Failing that, you could record the results in a spreadsheet on their file each visit. I hope that helps?
Does anyone know how to export data from the app to a spreadsheet? I have been tracking my weight for over a decade with multiple scales and would like to start adding data from this scale.
I believe so. I think the key is measuring the body on the same set of scales each time to get consistent results. I'd hope these were accurate for over £400!

Thank you for the awesome review. I, unfortunately, missed the discount code. Any chance of an upcoming new one?
Hi Pedro, I am pleased you liked this video.
Sadly, the discount code run out and I am unable to get a new one 😞
Can each user have their own profile on their own mobile device, or does it all have to be on the one app?
where do they ship from? (the EU store, maybe I can use your code and have it shipped to a friend of mine.)
Hey there, I think they ship from the UK but am not entirely sure. You can absolutely use my code if you are based in Europe and then send to your friend 👌🏼 what a good idea!
@@LauraTryUK just wondering if there would be import taxes for cross country orders.
A possible workaround to avoid this is, assuming the item ships from the UK, to have it shipped to a friend who lives in the UK and just wait for him to bring it home here in my country at a later date.
Thanks for being responsive! really appreciate it.
Great review! :) I bought the scales a week ago and this past week I have lost 1,8% of body-fat and gained 1 kg (2,2 lb) of muscle. Is this possible? Have you seen this kind of results in just one week? It's of course amazing if it's accurate :D
Not possible unless you are on steroids. Or creatine sucks up water making the muscle number go up
Hi. Thanks for the great video. the discount code doesn't work...
Hi there, thanks you for your comment, I will get this fixed immediately and let you know.
Hello again, the discount code has been reactivated for you 😀 please let me know it works 💪🏼
Great video. Will the RD545 allow me to use them and have data sent to my phone and my wife use them and have the data sent to her phone, both of us have iPhones? I've subscribed so keep up the great work. BTW... I used your discount code and got over £60 off, thanks very much
Hey Simon, thanks for subscribing! Appreciate it! Yes, if you both download the app and both create an account, you will both get your results sent to your phone. Me and my two housemates each have the app and do the same - I have 3 other people set up on my app also so lots of room for extra people to get their readings : ) Does that answer your question?
@@LauraTryUK Yes thank you
@@mr5string You're welcome!
send me your latest i like you , you are so pretty
Is it possible to know if we have too much water in the body because of water retention?
Hi Sabrina, yes the reading for body water is a %. The results give a low, normal and high reading for each measurement, including water so you know if you are hydrated sufficently.
More of Mrs T please! She is much more thorough ;)
Would this scale be useful in the workfield? If you want to measure multiple clients a day (more than 4)
Great review! Can you delete guest profiles on your app? So that you can have many clients..?
Hey Zala, I'm pleased you found the review useful.
if it's easy, check out the reply to Health & Fitness Hub's comment, it's similar to yours. I think that might help.
If you can't find it, let me know and I will copy it in here.
@@LauraTryUK thanks! Can you export on pdf measurments of your guests too?
@@zalamlinsek1316 Hey Zala, you can only export a PDF of the 4 people you have registered to the Tanita app 👌🏼
@@СергейМорин-м1х This is very useful, thank you for explaining.
can you change the segment analysis for body fat from % in kg?
I am finding the 953 inaccurate for body fat readings.
Hey, that is a shame. Perhaps contact Tanita?
I cant understand why it cant messure DCI
The only accurate way to measure all the stats this scale claims to do is by using a DEXA scan. Having tried many of the body scan scales I have found them to be wildly inaccurate. I hope this one is a lot better considering the price but I have my doubts. I would like to see these scales compared to a DEXA scan to see how accurate they really are.
and? what would you prefer now?
@@LauraTryUK Thank you for testing and answering. Really looking forward to buy this. Will be beginning 2021 :p
Athlete mode?
Does anyone know how to export data from the app to a spreadsheet? I have been tracking my weight for over a decade with multiple scales and would like to start adding data from this scale.
You the best..
Does it really show accurate weight?
I believe so. I think the key is measuring the body on the same set of scales each time to get consistent results.
I'd hope these were accurate for over £400!
Hi thank you for video. What do you think about tanita bc601?
Hi, thank you so much for your comment.
It's my pleasure to make this video.
I haven't tried the BC601, so cannot pass comment. I am, however, reviewing the 545 next week!
Hi! I bought one of this, but in my country is not available the app :(
Is possible to use this in the web?? Or another way? Thanks a lot!
Hey there Cynthia, sorry to hear you cannot use the app in your country ☹️
I am unaware of any other way to use the Tanita. Perhaps send them a message on social media or via their website?
What’s the app are you using together with the scale?
Hey Andrew, it’s called ‘Tanita.’
Isn’t accurate at all
