You walk into your favorite coffee shop and ask for a large coffee. They grab the cup, fill it half way with coffee, and then right in front of you, they walk to the sink and top it off with water.
    Wouldn't you say something?
Well that's exactly what your doing by choosing the 12ounce water amount.
    As always, great video!!!!!!!

I tasted a fantastic cup of coffee at a local shop, and they were using Counter Culture "Big Trouble" coffee. It was smooth, beany, and the best cup of coffee I ever tasted. They were just drip brewing it. So I ordered some "Big Trouble" coffee beans, and wasted most of the bag of beans trying to recreate that great flavor --- every cup I made was terrible. I bought a "pour over" kit, studied how many grams of water, and how many grams of coffee to use, studied pouring technique, etc. Nothing worked. Then I was just burning through the remaining "Big Trouble" beans in my Keurig, with a reusable stainless steel mesh pod, and not enjoying a single cup. Always 8 ounces or 12 ounces (worse!) because bigger is better! For some reason, I pressed the 6 ounce button on the Keurig. BOOM! Magic. That delicious coffee I remembered from the shop came out of my Keurig machine --- without measuring any grams, without any special pouring techniques, just press the button. On that day I learned the most important thing to a good cup of coffee, is the proper amount of water (6 ounces).

I only have 8-10-12 oz choices in the Keurig combo. Had bought a dish set with small mugs so the 10 ou was too full. So bought bigger mugs and only filled halfway using the 12 oz mode watered down too. Will try the 8 oz next but your video says 6 oz🤪. Wonder though if using the mesh pod for ground coffee would taste better than the plastic pods🤔

I dont care. Coffee is coffee. I am not a coffee snob like you. I always run 2, 6 ounce through my kcups to fill a travel mugs and get this o hate, HOT HOT COFFEE, so i fill up the rest if the mug with cold water. Small travel mug maybe add 4 ounces of water.??

I concur, my hubby does 12oz. full strength/ highest temp. and he likes it. I think it tastes like crap! I personally like 8oz. full strength/ highest temp. It's strong without being pure mud! I still like French press best, thanks to my old roommate who introduced me to this delicious brew in my early 20's😊☕

Sometimes, visual clarity is needed. I always hear its ok to brew 10 oz with a k-cup and wonder why is it so awful? Now I know. Thank you!

I purchased a used like new Keurig compact. After cleaning and sanitizing I tried making a cup of coffee just for testing. It's noisy, is this normal? Does anyone know. I have the Keurig classic and it does not make noise like the compact, that screeches like a noisy grocery store buggy. It works but I didn't know if this was something that was usual for this kind of Keurig.

So you recommend when using a k-cups brew on setting 6oz because of the amount of grams in most k cups . My Keurig brews 6-8-10-12oz settings & strong setting. Never use 10 or 12 to weak. Thanks for the information and any feedback.

A Keurig can make a good cup of coffee. Unfortunately, not a great cup.

      @TopOffMyCoffee  3 года назад

I completely agree although when you use your own grind in a Keurig you can at least start creeping closer to great.

@@TopOffMyCoffee I really tried but having a good grinder and a Aeoipress I make a great cup. Wife uses the Keurig so I have the hot water. My favorite is 4 tablespoons coffee to 8 ounces of water for 2 minutes then press. Add 4 ounces hot water. Keurig just can't do that.
But momma and her Folgers. She is happy.

My Keurig brews a great cup of coffee every morning . Try illy brand "Classico" beans (from Italy) with 6 ounces of water.

I’m 28. Starting to enjoy my cup of coffee. Usually stop by donut shops. Some are good some are watered down. I work in different locations so I don’t get a special coffee consistently. Now that I bought my first coffee maker I’m hoping to taste a good cup of coffee and safe hundreds per year . As I get older I’ll probably get more picky with my coffee.

I understand that the reusable Keurig cup, at the Max line can hold up to 18g. of grounds. Have I got that number correct? If so, can it brew a decent 12oz cup? I will be grinding my Death Wish fresh (thanks for using it in this demo, btw), possibly 3 times... I can't use my French Press due to mobility issues (don't want to pour hot water from 6" above eyelevel), but one batch from the FP nicely filled my 32oz. Bubba Mug :)

I can’t use my French press anymore for the same reasons 😭 just wanted to show some solidarity. This is new to me so wishing I was relating to others in my situation has me a little desperate 😅 for interaction.

Keurig should have a 6oz setting on all their units. I like a stronger coffee and if you have an 8oz setting, its a weaker brew. It's a bit of a pain but, remove your cup at 6oz and let the last 2oz of water run into another cup...

Geesh! Death Wish K-pods, who knew? I like my men 'Dark & Dangerous', not my coffee.😉 But will definitely try it using this (1/2 6) oz hack though, as it doesn't look like the wonder brew for wimps. The LMAIB Pretending I'm Working mug, Priceless!👍 Btw, the adorable kid appearing on the video at about 2 minutes in, is the Cutest Thing Alive.🙂

I love that mug and that kid! He appears in my videos all the time, working from home he follows me everywhere, a true daddy's boy. Those DW pods are good for sure, TBH I usually brew with them and the REVV pods at 8oz strength as they usually don't start tasting watery until you go past the 8oz setting. I also like my light roasts too though, I'm not always so dangerous! :P

This explains why my coffee tastes horrible. I am using generic store brand pods, but with 10 to 12 ounces of water and the coffee is bitter and almost tastes burnt which might be passable if I didn't drink it black. I'll try making a cup with 6 ounces and see how it goes.

What is the best coffee maker? I have 2 keurigs. Very useful but to get a great cup of coffee takes a little more love. Keurig is for quick on the go, not that great imo. Any suggestions?

A French press or pour over. I use my Keurig (always 6 ounce setting or 4 oz over ice for ice coffee) when I just want 1 or 2 and my French press when I'm bringing coffee with me in my 20 oz mug. You could of course use the French press for any amount (I did it for years before I got my Keurig)
