I love how Vitalion fights like a Roman would. He uses his Gladus primarily for stabbing or cutting the throat, which is what it was meant for, being a stabbing weapon. He also sometimes uses his shield to bash the enemy, which Romans also did, though they would usually use the center of the shield, not the perimeter.
Nothing is precise in battle. Some times in desperation you have to do it other way, and gladiuses were good at cutting too, Macedonians knew it too well...
To be frank, if it couldn’t cut at least decently, it would be a pretty terrible sword. I know swords across history have had variants for different purposes, but wow, imagine the gladius sucking lmao

It's when Marius has that corridor fight at the end and the arena boss fight with Commodus that your comment is accurate. But here it makes sense

Secondly, what you are suggesting wouldn’t been nessicarily work in context of his entire layout. But, the "moment" counts more. Call it destiny, if you may. Vitallion was a skilled and experienced commander. He was an experienced fighter. But in case of the latter, not as skillednas Marius. It also depends on the player's skill. Someone who has defeated Boudicca, in game, may say things like why Vitallion, being 'better' lost... While some other players find the level difficult....As aforesaid, all depends on experience, skill and the "moment".

This game portrays an epic,alternative and idealistic version of Roman history during Nero's rule. Consider that in the game gods play an active role. Take this game as a romantic adventure with the main charachter growing and understanding the "real" world as the story progresses

They didn’t ignore him. The entire purpose of that defensive line was to ensure the barbarians couldn’t get into the city to buy the civilians time to evacuate. Would it have looked epic if they all charged? Yes, but also foolish that now since the defensive line is broken, due to the mass numbers the barbarians have, while some engage the soldiers, the rest can run by, sacking the city and killing civilians. Just like King Leonidas and the 300, they funneled the enemy so their massive numbers meant nothing.

Becouse his armor was broken ,but he didnt have enough gold to pay for it to be repaired so his raid group kicked him out,but then he got into a battleground and died .

Boudicca what?? She didn't travel to Tunisia did she? Or Carthage? There simply was no war elephants in Europe. Moreover by that era the usage of war elephants generally were over due to the many tactics and weapons that could take them down easily like Ballistaes, Pilum javelins, fire arrows which the Romans effectively employ against them

Historically Boudica died in Britain to the first roman army she met. This is an alternative, fictional history, Gods themselves appear and literally interact with Boudicca and Marius.
Also the elephants are justified by Marius at one point, saying eastern tribes/people gave those elephants to Boudicca in hope to see her destroy Rome once and for all.

You should feel equally bad for them, no one creature should suffer war more than the other. Animals were used in war because their size and power used to provide an edge. What was your squadron of swordsmen going to do against a 20 ft tall creature of pure muscle, or an animal charging across an open field with more speed than any human can achieve, all whilst very angry soldiers are atop their backs swinging equally dangerous weapons around?
