      realistically he wouldn't have lost against boudica, mainly because not only is he a trained soldier, he's wearing fucking lamellar plate armor and has a shield and sword, meanwhile boudica is only wearing a few pelts, uses two swords (something that people didn't use irl because of how impractical it was) and is a woman, meaning she was bound to have less strength and stamina than vitallion. of course he lost because this is a game and is not realistic and I don't wanna be one of those history whiners but it feels kinda silly to see a sword piercing like lamellar like it's nothing lol

    I love how Vitalion fights like a Roman would. He uses his Gladus primarily for stabbing or cutting the throat, which is what it was meant for, being a stabbing weapon.
    He also sometimes uses his shield to bash the enemy, which Romans also did, though they would usually use the center of the shield, not the perimeter.

    • @picollojr9009

    • @bogdangabrielonete3467
      @bogdangabrielonete3467 4 года назад +10

      His armor is made of plates. What she did was go between the plates. Both her strike from the front and behind came from an angle, which allowed her blade to simply slip between the plates. It's when Marius has that corridor fight at the end and the arena boss fight with Commodus that your comment is accurate. But here it makes sense

    • @PurelyGoliath
      @PurelyGoliath 4 года назад +13

      Bogdan Gabriel Onete no actually she didn’t. Watch her strikes, they are stiff and appear tk somehow break through the plates. Secondly, what you are suggesting wouldn’t been nessicarily work in context of his entire layout. In reality he shouldn’t have had much trouble with her and they only killed him like that for plot and to hype up Boudicca vs Marius. Smh.

      @@PurelyGoliath His death was for the hype and shock, true. But I still think his execution seems reasonable given the previous explanation. Plus Boudica wasn't easy to deal with. Britons were a real pain for the Romans

    • @PurelyGoliath
      @PurelyGoliath 4 года назад +9

      Bogdan Gabriel Onete I’m speaking in the context of such an experienced and skilled Legate like himself, with that armor layout , against just her and her weapons & *lack* of armor. On paper and considering their proven skill through the game that should have been a first round KO.

    • @monsiercochrane77
      @monsiercochrane77 4 года назад +10

      @Generous Principle alright.
      The real reason is:
      Marius was a better soldier.
      Vitallion was a better leader.
      This is seen throughout the gameplay.
      And as for how its possible...
      The same way as how Sigmund Freud disproved theories of Carl Jung.
      Or, as how , sometimes, a student disproves his/her teacher.
      In battle, experience is important.
      Skill is also a factor.
      But, the "moment" counts more.
      Call it destiny, if you may.
      Vitallion was a skilled and experienced commander.
      He was an experienced fighter. But in case of the latter, not as skillednas Marius.
      It also depends on the player's skill.
      Someone who has defeated Boudicca, in game, may say things like why Vitallion, being 'better' lost...
      While some other players find the level difficult....As aforesaid, all depends on experience, skill and the "moment".

      They didn’t ignore him. The entire purpose of that defensive line was to ensure the barbarians couldn’t get into the city to buy the civilians time to evacuate. Would it have looked epic if they all charged? Yes, but also foolish that now since the defensive line is broken, due to the mass numbers the barbarians have, while some engage the soldiers, the rest can run by, sacking the city and killing civilians. Just like King Leonidas and the 300, they funneled the enemy so their massive numbers meant nothing.

      They didn't. The soldiers in the shieldwall are supposed to keep their positions, if you look closely you can see that behind Vitallion is a column of Romans following him to battle. He said "Forward!" to them.

      Boudicca what?? She didn't travel to Tunisia did she? Or Carthage? There simply was no war elephants in Europe. Moreover by that era the usage of war elephants generally were over due to the many tactics and weapons that could take them down easily like Ballistaes, Pilum javelins, fire arrows which the Romans effectively employ against them

      @@ConstantineJoseph It is an alternate, historical FICTION. What don't you people bitching about the inacurracies don't understand about that? Historically Boudica died in Britain to the first roman army she met. This is an alternative, fictional history, Gods themselves appear and literally interact with Boudicca and Marius.
      Also the elephants are justified by Marius at one point, saying eastern tribes/people gave those elephants to Boudicca in hope to see her destroy Rome once and for all.

    • @RealYankee

      You should feel equally bad for them, no one creature should suffer war more than the other. Animals were used in war because their size and power used to provide an edge. What was your squadron of swordsmen going to do against a 20 ft tall creature of pure muscle, or an animal charging across an open field with more speed than any human can achieve, all whilst very angry soldiers are atop their backs swinging equally dangerous weapons around?
