      make sure that obsession does not make u want to be like them. For it has for so many others. The Romans ruled a huge portion of the world for over 500 years a feat many nations wished to copy. None were able to and failed due to weak government and internal structure.

    I'm Eastern Roman (Greek). We are all Romans. No need to argue who is a true Roman. The Roman Empire encompassed and was invaded and settled by dozens of peoples. Even Italy was no more Roman than other provinces. In Italy lived various peoples of different descent. Latins,Samnites,Greeks,Gauls and many others.

    When the leader puts on his helmet and they start running in formation that scene really brings back memories. I can remember running in formation with our combat boots one, (Before they started allowing us to wear tennis shoes to prevent injuries.) You could hear those boots all across the post early in the morning. 82nd Airborne Jump School is located there at Fort Benning. They would all get up about the same time, stretch a little bit, and then start running. We sung in cadence, too. Yeah,...try to run like that for 2 or more miles singing. As if running wasn't hard enough. LOL. It didn't matter if you were in your car or what. Laying in your bed--you could hear the pounding of our boots hitting the payment keeping the beat to the songs we sang. "Your left, your left, your left, right, left...!" Never will forget it.

      Sgt Artyom I have an Eagle as my account avatar because I am an American-Italian. One can be American and still be proud of being a descendant of another ancient race or group of people. You really have little to no brains in that head of yours evidence by the logic you have shown in your two comments.

    • @StreetFighterFan86
      @StreetFighterFan86 9 лет назад +10

      Sgt Artyom Even more fail logic on your part in your second comment, lol. Why would I want Italy's colors on my Eagle? Italy's current colors did not exist back during the days of the Roman Empire and Republic and her people to which i am proud to have descended from. And if you were not an idiot you would not have asked why my symbol is an eagle, the eagle or Aquila in Latin is the symbol of both the Roman Republic/Empire and America among other nations. Thus I have the Eagle which represents both my Roman Heritage and my current American heritage, and the Red, White, and Blue because those are the colors of the American Republic of my birth to which I love.

    Roman army was not the best army. But they had food, were well trained, sometimes well led, get paid and they were flexible and they could raise quikly new legions. That all together make Rome hard to defeat for centuries.

    Nice. I belong to a medieval re-enactment society, where I fight as a Roman Auxiliary, About 30-90 AD kit. Full mail, greaves, Imperial Italic B helm would be the closests to what I wear. Its full contact so adjustments have to be made. But the army I fight for is Roman, and seeing this was pretty fucking cool, especially because our annual war and all our tournaments have been cancelled this year due to fucking covid. So thanks for the videa, mate.

    No argument about that. Historical accuracy (or lack thereof) aside, I just like that scene because it was cool. I mean you've got the opening scene from Gladiator where the legionaries are using their pila as fighting spears; misuse of the tortoise formation probably wouldn't have raised many red flags after that.
    Not criticizing, just explaining my previous statement. All that aside, well done. If they had RUclips back then, your video would have made a hell of a recruiting commercial.
