Какой прекрасный сериал. Смотре его много раз, а отдельные сцены десятки раз. Думаю никто в исторических фильмах не совместил такую правдивость повествования и увлекательность.
Rome was so good. It was a travesty they cancelled it. What is amazing is that much of it was historically accurate. Such they fictionalized and embellished aspects a lot of the plot, but the true history of Caesar, Pompey, Octavian, etc makes fiction seem rather tame. I loved this scene too. The marching music is awesome as well. It is so eerie and fitting. Pullo and Vorenus unknowingly partook in several key events and moments in history. It is amazing that the Romans and Rome were more advanced and civilized than many other countries for hundreds of years. It is rather striking that Romans lived more comfortably than a citizen during the Middle Ages, for example. It would be amazing to have seen it in person.
@@MrAnonymousRandom it’s definitely historically accurate. Even the way people died. Octavian in history is recorded to have light eyes and a menacing glare. I study Roman culture in college and this is the most accurate Roman portrayal in tv. Even the assassination of Caesar is accurate according to multiple senators that were there. Someone grabbed his toga before they started to stab him, and he covered his face as he died.

Titus Pullo was the star of this show. He causes the mob to attack Antony, thereby creating irrevocable conditions for civil war; rescues Octavian, the future Augustus; he discovers Pompey's gold; fathers Cleopatra's son Caesarion; defeats the gangs of Rome... Am I missing anything?!
Are you kidding? It's the gladiator fight. That is the greatest scene in any TV Show ever! Legit made the entire series worth it. Rest in peace, Ray Stevenson, will never understand how the performance did not launch him into a much bigger career, he had a great career, but Hollywood wasted his talent

@@reximingan9420 don't forget Marius who instituted the Marian Reforms and won the Cimbrian Wars that plagued Rome till he was made Consul for multiple terms in a row (think it was 7 in total)
The late republican legionary would have wore mail armour and well organised. When Mark Antomy matched to Greece I noticed that the legion weren't carrying the standard which was odd as all legions carried the standard
@@zachsmith1676 The Marian reforms were great overall but it had unintended side effects such as the legions being loyal to the general instead of Rome directly, in fact Marius went to war with his ex subordinate Sulla in the first civil war soon after the reforms which Sulla won and this trend continued until Augustus became first emperor. The late republic was full of political turmoil, corruption and unrest which destabilised Rome entirely and the reforms were partly the cause of that.
I loved this series, a lot of interesting details to be fiction, good actors, raw images without alterations due to puritan feeling those are often present into anglophone productions, really good!
This great series is about the very early beginnings of the civilization in which we now live. Octavian's continuation of many of Caesar's ideas is what drove us to this current world. Caesar was the first mass population leader to add corporatism to military power, politics, religion and royalty. Hence, the western world has been obsessed with the Roman Empire ever since with different nations taking turns trying to duplicate it with the USA now the latest to attempt.
@@Thraxxx03 As I stated this is the USA's turn to try to duplicate the Roman Empire. There are signs in the American culture which mirror the Roman Empire like the NFL representing the Colosseum and NASCAR being the modern day Circus Maximus. These were and are "pacifiers" for the masses. The colosseum was free just as most of football is on TV. Rome provided much public stage shows just as is most of all the entertainment on TV today. Caesar especially understood the power of religion as a tool for control of the masses in order to gain and keep his support from them. Today, religion is used constantly by people in power just by the mention of phrases like "under god" & "god bless".
@@nobodyaskedbut I absolutely agree. Also when it comes to military conquest America is not taking it by force but we do take areas with money and military strength. Just like the islands we own in the Caribbean. Also according to the UN America has over 900 + military bases around the world while the world combine has no more than 400.
We used to believe in expanding like the “westward expansion” but these days we are comfortable where we are. But I hope we have one leader one day to push expansion.
@@Thraxxx03 That's just megalomaniacal nonsense... the Romans conquered a huge chunk of the known world, the US has no such great conquests. There were 7 great powers: 1 - Rome 2 - Carthage 3 - Macedonia 4 - Aeolian league 5 - Achaean league 6 - Seleucids 7 - Ptolemies Rome conquered the other 6 great powers and unified the mediterranean world into a single political entity, they also conquered some barbarian tribes in Western Europe and converted them to civilisation. The US doesn't even come close to Rome's glory. In todays century the US would have to take on 1:The European Union 2: China 3: Iran 4: Russia Good luck with that. The EU alone has over 1.4 million personnel, and don't even get started on the massive populations of China and Russia. Which the US could never conquer and hold, Iran is also a lot more mountainous than Iraq was so they won't be a walkover either. The only expansions you could pull off is taking Canada and Mexico, but there's NO WAY you are getting a foothold on the continent of Europe and Asia.

Thats not an opinion, it's a fact. - Tywin Lannister (Lame of Thrones)
If this was made again now, so many people would watch it!
ROME > GAME OF THRONES.
pepe javier game of what? the only city that counts is ROME!!!! not king's landing....
+Jerod Caesar's tactical brilliance would put tywin lannister to shame
***** Julius Caesar would have won most of the seven kingdoms, imagine real battle tactics with highly drilled, discipline legionnaires, going up against knights that do not fight as units, lack discipline, and do not have allegiance or loyalty. Caesar was a hard man, but he also won over his soldiers and his soldiers loved him, that can't be said about Stannis Baratheon or Tywin, or even that blonde targaryean Danny girl. and you can forget about cersei. I'd rather have Mark Antony by my side than Jaimie Lannister. the Only badass in this show was Ser Barristan Selmy, and they killed him off, Pullo made it and he had sex with all the women from gaul to egypt.
Oh Noo kid game of thrones is far superior. It is isn't the battles that make game of thrones. It is the lore, the characters, the mythical fauna, and the amazing writing from George R.R. Martin.
I'm sick of the tired, repetitive memes posted by GOT fans.
Какой прекрасный сериал. Смотре его много раз, а отдельные сцены десятки раз. Думаю никто в исторических фильмах не совместил такую правдивость повествования и увлекательность.
I get chills every time I hear this, and I always return to hear it again.
I love Stevenson's face. It just tells us that he's thinking: "Holy fucking shit!"
+StickyDixon That's one of the things that makes a good actor. They often show you at least as much as they tell you.
One of the best scenes in the whole series!
Yea that's why the Scots terrified them . Lol
Yes, awesome. Scored to a perfect cadence! Wish this scene could have gone on a lot longer.
Rome/Italy has one hell of a legacy! Would love to visit one day.
The quality of this show was epic!
My favorite scene from Rome
Imagine if Rome had never fallen, and Europe had never regressed into the Middle Ages. We’d probably be on Mars by now.
@@Cybermat47 cringeworthy comment
Historically accurate, no. Authentic, yes. The attention to detail gives you the feeling that was what ancient Roman society was like.
Oh my God thank you so much for uploading this! You do not know how many times I played this scene over and over again when I had it on dvd. You do not know how many times, in my drunken stupors, I looked up online. My favorite tv series of all time is Rome. As far as HBO series's go, Game of Thrones is a far second to Rome. Though GOT t'is quite stupendous as well.
If we ever conquer something, we will march to that tune 2:47 :)
Yeah! Someone knows the music?
0:55 When you see a tiny bit of a roman patrichians wealth the first time in your life....
The lesson is follow your love because you might find a lot of gold.
Makes me want to rewatch the series. Almost as heartbreaking as Firefly
I'm going through this series for the first time, how have I never watched this before? It's awesome.
... something more cheerful. "There she was just a-walkin' down the street, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Snappin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do" She looked good (looked good), she looked fine (looked fine) She looked good, she looked fine and I nearly lost my mind
kotk05
Before I knew it, she was walking next to me, singing (Do wa diddy diddy dum diddy do). Holding my hand, just as natural as can be, singing (Do wa diddy diddy dum diddy do). We walked on... *the rest drowned out by theme song*
Well done...well done indeed you two.
I think Julius would have appreciated that song
"Rome" (Stripes Edition)
with Bill Murray as Gracchus
With that resolution, it could very much be original footage!
Awesome series! Loved it!! 🤘🏽
Rome was my first binge series it’s fantastic
Rome was a good show, and it was through Rome that HBO gained the experience to create GoT. It's a shame they didn't follow that experience in the later seasons tho....
I think this was the best show ever made
The Ancient Roman legionary in the Republican days was a tough, disciplined citizen soldier who was loyal to Rome.
If only you have Leaders like Caesars and Africanus. Then Yeah
@WarLord *a lot of land + money +slaves
This is where they sing "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" as they march onward ! I say : "well done well done !".
SPQR
Titus Pullo; the bad ass with the kind and warm heart.
Man I loved this show, it's sad it didn't get enough budget to make more seasons.
2:43 Favorite part in the entire show..
Great romans..their legacy would never die.
How I wish this excellent series had continued!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Exceptionally accurate.Try to find a book on Caesar at your library.
Titus Pullo. Great character, great performance.
I loved this series, a lot of interesting details to be fiction, good actors, raw images without alterations due to puritan feeling those are often present into anglophone productions, really good!
I love the trumpets go right into the credits. So smooth
I thought I was the only one who loved this scene..🤣🔥 All time favourite series❤
"Gracchus, something more cheerful !"
*The Shire theme commences*
This great series is about the very early beginnings of the civilization in which we now live. Octavian's continuation of many of Caesar's ideas is what drove us to this current world. Caesar was the first mass population leader to add corporatism to military power, politics, religion and royalty. Hence, the western world has been obsessed with the Roman Empire ever since with different nations taking turns trying to duplicate it with the USA now the latest to attempt.
A lot of people say the USA is the modern day Roman Empire what do you think?
There were 7 great powers:
1 - Rome
2 - Carthage
3 - Macedonia
4 - Aeolian league
5 - Achaean league
6 - Seleucids
7 - Ptolemies
Rome conquered the other 6 great powers and unified the mediterranean world into a single political entity, they also conquered some barbarian tribes in Western Europe and converted them to civilisation.
The US doesn't even come close to Rome's glory. In todays century the US would have to take on
1:The European Union
2: China
3: Iran
4: Russia
Good luck with that.
And that children, is how the Empire was born
His character was great. A fuck up but also the best guy you could ever ask to have your back. Special kind of person.
Still one of the best series of anything ever!!
mance rayder as caesar
Nope, it was Caesar as Mance Ryder if we take into account when both shows where produced :).
"You look as calm as a cup of water." "Glad I appear so."
Caesar's horse is drooling! XD
