  • Welcome to Lesson 1 of this year’s cool weather Crochet Along - Ollie O’Go Owl Toy Trio, hosted by Sarah Zimmerman from Repeat Crafter Me!
    In this lesson you'll learn how to open your O’Go, how to separate the colors, and get started on stitching up the body and head of the owl. This week’s homework includes building the base of this cute critter by making a magic ring and working a series of single crochets and decreases in the round, changing colors once you reach the head. You can start adding your polyfill at this stage to give the bottom structure. Make sure to leave the head open as you’ll be stitching details onto the head in weeks 2 and 3.

    Love this pattern, but wish you would give the stitch counts in rounds 13, 14, 15. That is where I am at right now. Like to count my count with yours to make sure, I haven’t dropped a stitch.

    Just went to your channel and have liked and subscribed to it. Thanks so much for making and sharing this adorable owl. I'm not one for making "kiddie" type items, but this one is sure cute, and now that I have "step" grand kids I'm starting to search for items like this to make! Thanks for sharing...

    What size hook? PDF pattern states 6.5mm but the on-line kit for Ollie the Owl comes with 8mm hook and the yarn package recommends 8mm.

      @wendylcm7643 2 года назад +5

      When you make a stuffed item, the hook size is usually smaller than the recommended size on the yarn, as you are trying to keep the stuffing inside with tighter stitch work

    I have been trying this pattern over and over again with the yarn and hook suggested in the pattern and my owl always ends up much smaller. It seems the hook used in this video is larger than K/6.5. I never get to 12 inches in height. Help!!

    Hi. I've made 2 of this and starting on 3rd one. For some reason can't get the first 5 rows to work out. I'm left handed and I can't find out how to get the right counts. Didn't have trouble with the other two. Any suggestions to get the 5 rows going. I can't make magic circle and used chains for other 2. I am so frustrated to start this 3rd one.

    Thank you , but what size hock are you using we only use mm sizes in South Africa. K is equal to what. Would love to make, I so enjoyed the video.

    Has anyone actually completed this project following this tutorial? Wld love to know if anyone using the K hook arrives at anything that looks like the body in her video by Round 16? I have attempted this several times and even tried a J hook and still do not arrive at a body that resembles her demonstration.

      Use stitch markers to keep place. I always put one in the first and last stitch so you don’t lose your place. I also do it if the pattern has multiple different kinds of stitches within one round.

  • @hibiscusandgravy
    @hibiscusandgravy 5 месяцев назад

    I'm not sure if this will be answered but I need help! Do you start in the same stitch that you did a slip stitch and chain 1 with, or the next stitch? 😅

    • @CaliFirecracker
      @CaliFirecracker 2 месяца назад

      You should have joined the row with your slip stitch and chain 1 at the first single crochet of the previous row, so yes, you would do your first single crochet in that same single crochet where your slip stitch is at. If that makes sense?!? 😂😊

    What is the trick for seeing the stitches?

    • @wendylcm7643
      @wendylcm7643 2 года назад +2

      The pattern calls for a K/6.5mm hook so your stitching is tighter to keep the stuffing from poking out of your finished owl

    • @chedunndoit

      Well I went back and read the directions. Round 3 and 5 are different. If you do the 3rd round 2sc, 1sc ONCE and then do on the 5th round-2sc, 1sc TWICE the count comes out as she says
