Putting any kind of grass seed on hard dirt using any type of delivery method has always provided me with...a dirt field. For best results I've always had to prep the dirt, cover the seed one or two inches deep, and water it twice daily. No joke, it works every time regardless of the delivery method.
I've been a landscaper for a few years and I thought this product would be good for rental property lawn repair with some realtors I work with...DEFINITELY NOT!!!..Ssssoooo many problems with this product and I really appreciate you being honest and showing what it does not do. Stick with seed and topper soil you'll be happier in the long run.
This stuff worked great on our lawn. We have hard dirt and all i did was rake up the debris, and just throw handfuls of top soil over it. The top soil didn't even cover the whole area. Then i applied it, and made sure to keep the area damp for at least a week. The bag says water 3 times a day, but really you have to keep it damp. If it's hot and dries out, it's not going to grow. We fenced off two areas at two different times and now we have super nice thick grass in both. I will use this any time i need to grow grass. This stuff is fantastic.
Many years ago I picked up a Hydro Mousse and applied it in an area in my backyard where we put in a stone path. The grass has done better than anything else I've ever put in that area. I've tried everything around the area that has quite a bit of shade and nothing has worked. I was actually wondering if Hydro Mousse was still available so I could try it on the area next to where I put it 5 years ago.
I love watching your lawn/grass tutorial videos even though I live in Las Vegas and have a dirt/rock yard 😂 fantastic job with your lawn! It looks perfect.
Thank you. I was in Vegas once when I was 20 and it was amazing. I love the dry weather and on my last day I won $5k on a dime slot machine. Slots of fun, was the place. Super exciting there, I didn't want to leave! We are expecting a hurricane here tomorrow. I charged up all the ecoflows, might have a live event if we are running on them. We shall see.
The Hydro is convenient, but the seed composition (the creeping red & ryegrass) along with the starter fertilizer stimulates the growth, but the ultimate test will be time ….. what seed takes, versus what dies away. Good luck with the test!!
Hydro mousse may be good to fill in those bad spots in your lawn. I preferred the traditional way, which would be on the left side of your shed. Thanks for the great video and info.
I used it for some bare spots on my lawn. It did the job, however, the grass is a very thin variety. and I can tell where I sprayed it. I do a better job seeding the bare spots, putting some soil on top, and keeping it watered.
Used it myself and WEARING GLOVES is a must as if you get any of the spray on you it stains and won't come off for a week or more. Second, it just didn't work. We have a harder clay soil in our area and even prepping it didn't matter. Nothing grew. A bag of seed and some manure is the best method IMO

Thanks 👍 I was nervous to do this in this crazy hot August but staying on top of the watering seemed to be ok, it definitely accelerated the growth I think some too.
It’s all about the type of seed. Most perennial ryes and that red fescue will come in very quick. Bluegrass and most tall fescues are very slow to germinate. I noticed over 50% of the seed content is TTF and another good percentage was BG.
In the 1980's i worked on a hydroseed truck spraying about a half acrea per load. It works good. It has everything to grow, seed, fertilizer, lime and mulch. The mulch protects the seeds from birds and rain etc untill the seed germinate.
Looking at the growth on the hydro side The places where you had the most foam on them It would appear that is didn't have enough time to foam thoroughly. Impressive growth on the other side 👍
