Good Video. Liked this one. I think this hydroseeder is going to be a godsend for you guys, and more importantly your livestock. with 500 acres yeah you'll get your moneys worth out of that. Good fabricating Al. in the best traditions of our pioneering ancesters. should be proud of yourself Al.
Love the hydroseeder. Next phase is to fix a chair on the trailer so that Al can be strapped in and spraying while Gina drives the truck round the property 😎
Good afternoon, Lumnah Family! That is a phenomenal idea! Awesome idea using the pump and IBC tank to make a hydro seeder; I am motivated to make something similar for our land. The multi-faceted use of the pump/tank/sprayer configuration is awesome. Thank you for sharing this and I will be anxious to see the results.
I ran a commercial hydro seeder for years ,we had a semi truck with a 5000 gallon tank. Your idea of the return line into the tank is a great idea to keep the heavies and fertilizers and seed from settling to the bottom of the tank .We used old newsprint that had Been shredded as a holding binding material to hold the seed and fertilizer in place so the rain wouldn't leach it off. But I think you need what we had in our mix tank and that was a mechanical agitator that broke down the paper into a fiber and kept it at a constant consistency so it would spray at a constant rate and not plug the nozzle. Myself and the truck driver would arrive at work a couple hours before we were to start spraying mainly bare ground from new construction of highway, freeway right of ways. We'd load the tank with water and then add the paper and allow it to agitate for at least an hour before spraying. The last things we'd add to the tank was the bags of seed and fertilizer. If you could figure out a way to build a simple agitator I think your idea would work . I think your right on with your invention but from experience I think you really need a mechanical agitator . When I watched when you added more mix and I saw the medium clumping up at the surface of your tank ,an agitator would not only break up those clumps but it would keep your mixture at a consistent mixture where the seed stays mixed well in the mixture. I pretty sure with your welding and fabrication skills you will be able to build a simple agitator for your product tank. One thing I'd reccomend would be to put the mixture on a little heavier. It will add more seed but most importantly it will hold the moisture around the seeds until they germinate and can establish a start of a root system. Drying out for even a day will kill a lot of the seed and a little heavier application will help hold the moisture and hold the seed.
Those sound like wonderful tips. I think of a washing machine agitator that an old washing machine motor could run but powering it might be hard. If it only goes around in one direction then maybe a solar panel or two could run it or just a car battery. You'd want it a little down in the tank. A little gas powered boat motor maybe? We'll have to see what he comes up with. Thanks for the tips. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
Good morning Lumnah family AND friends! Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! I need prayers from all of my friends here. This weekend was to be when we put in our garden here in MN. Nice job on seeder. Might try a trash can to dump the EZ Flow in to break it up and use a scoop make it easier & less messy to add. So now you need to get a dedicated trailer to put it on. If you used a inclosed one you could keep all your supplies dry. You’re going to have grass everywhere now.

Al, you should fab a strainer box for the end of the suction hose when filling the IBC tote to prevent sticks/mulch from being sucked into the pump and tote. Cheers!

Good afternoon Lumnah family from a beautiful day in Elmwood Wisconsin. Good afternoon viewers. I went to a local farmer's market this morning. Fun! I also worked on a carburetor for a high wheel trimmer. Hopefully it'll start tomorrow. The gasket tore so I used some RTV to make one but it has to cure for 24 hours. I got fuel resistant RTV because it's between the engine and the carburetor. All the jets seemed clean after a spray through with carb cleaner. That's cool that you're building your own hydro-seeder Al! Cool, you can see where you're spraying! Looking good! Pretty impressive Al! That's great that now you have a set-up to seed all over your homestead. I like the flap you cut to add things through the top. It's a car wash too! Pretty darn cool.
Good mauhnin Lumnah Acres and friends! Hope everyone is doing well! A hydro seeder! Woohoo! Way to go Al!👍 Happy Memorial Day weekend to all our American friends! Have a great weekend, enjoy and stay safe.🇺🇸 ❤️🙏
Good morning, Elizabeth - thank you! Hope you have a good weekend too!
Great engineering, Al.
Two days for seed germination is good, I got four days when re seeding my garden. The final germination took up to day 10, so the hydro method is very impressive. So you saved a fortune and now have a hydro seeder and water pump, well done! And also a great video to show others what they can also do, keep safe and enjoy the week end.
Al is like a kid in a candy store ! And GE cant stop playing 😮
Good morning Modern Steaders! Al is always building something interesting!

I used to do paving and we added wild flower seeds when spraying roadsides and hillsides. Added a burst of beautiful colors. Seeds are a bit pricey but, well worth it.
