Every episode until now, I've been thinking "Damn, Mike must've been in Singapore for a while, they recorded so much! I wish they would release it faster!" Now, I'm starting to think he's just been living there this whole time. I don't even know anymore.
This was one of the most entertaining SF vids ever. Mike here genuinely reminded me of the excellent adventure days. Please please keep this up, you have no idea how much we're looking forward to Mike and Xian having fun with SF6!
They taught them everything except pressing back to block. Still greatest show. I really appreciate your channel with different content. This was dope as hell.
Dude it's so crazy to think about how people that don't play fighting games don't realize not pressing buttons blocks. I was hanging out with someone I hadn't seen in a long time and he didn't play games at all so i painstakingly explained every single button to him. Then i noticed he wasn't blocking like 4 games in and I asked him why he wasn't and he goes "what's the block button?" And i felt like such a douchebag. Like to someone like me blocking is like the sky being blue or water being wet it didn't even occur to me that someone didn't even know how to block.
@@stevenfraielli9869yyeah honestly I would probably have done the same haha. If it would have been mk they probably would have said it since it's a actual button to press.
Perfect timing on this video being dropped. Just got done re watching Xians amazing Evo 2013 run. So happy for him, the legendary Mike The Boss Ross and I'm grateful for experiencing how much they've done for the FGC throughout the years 🙏🏿💯
I very much liked how you approached the video. Instead of sitting and talking about modern controls like other people did, you decided to instead show the process, the interaction, the result... Kudos for that!
As someone who hasn’t laid eyes on street fighter since sf4 it’s awesome to see Mr. mike Mike Ross Ross in the scene. Xian is awesome as always too. Take care guys and stay happy
I know the FGC can usually gatekeep, but I like what Capcom has done with the Modern Control scheme. Usually, controls are the biggest barrier to new players. If the scene hopes to grow, developers have to find accessible ways to ease in new players. This video was both entertaining and informative. It’ll be interesting if the Capcom Cup champion won using Modern Controls.
@@trellwhitehurst6670 and why would they if the game doesn't interest them and a large part of fighting game appeal for normies are the specials? If they can't even do the specials they're not gonna bother learning footsies and shit. This is a way to introduce people by making one aspect easier and they'll have to learn the rest.
@roundabout468 that's where the problem lies....Too often people make learning those things their main priority and then wonder why they keep getting their ass handed to them or feel like they're not improving. Hell half of them mfs don't even block and that's one of the first things you learn how to do. What's the point of learning those specials and the other so called "cool" shit when you don't even know how to use them or when to use. That shit is supposed to be an add on to your offense and defense...not be the main core of it. Three point shooting, dunks and ankle breaker are the main appeal with basketball but that doesn't mean go and try to learn 'that' shit first.
This was a nice prelude of things to come. Can't wait for the online challengers video! and possibly the eventual episode where both play with modern controls only xD
We geninuely need more of the great street fighter players to make mkre combo videos regarding modern controls and incorporating drive rush with lengthy combos. Now is not the time to gatekeep, hell nobody should be gatekeeping or elitist at all. It's all about everyone enjoying this game and wanting to support it and embracing different playstyles. This video series was much needed
How do you feel about moving the camera to a side view so we can see the hand placement of the stick/controller? I find it to be a lot more investing to see the hand movements in a fighting games as well as the expressions being made. For example if Mike is "showing how he works" it would be funnier to see his physical movements as well.
thank you guys for all the contents man! Hope Mike and Xian can play "Idol Showdown" sometimes for a future vid. Keep up the contents you guys and the VersusVortex Team!!
Don't care for Modern Controls at all but this was one of the most entertaining RUclips videos I've seen in awhile. I smiled all the way through...this definitely helps my depression. Anyway, Modern Controls is a great option for beginners, which is the main reason it was added...props to both players, they did their best!🙏🏽 Peace and love to all of you reading this comment...full BOT mode lol.
I would have given 5 pieces of advice: 1. If you are far away, fireball 2. If they jump over the fireball, uppercut 3. If they walk forward in between fireballs, sweep 4. If they are flashing from Drive impact, jump and then attack on your way down. 5. If you are backed into a corner, try and jump over them and get to the other side Rinse and repeat.
Alright! some content from my new favourite duo! Fingers crossed y'all will slay some tournaments with Jaime (in the future) Edit: Ahh.. I see that the OGs have decided to get themselves some disciples... Either that or they've achieved the gamer dream...
It's interesting to see the modern controls on a beginner. It doesn't look that much different than a beginner mashing buttons using the regular controls, maybe less ex and specials, but is that valuable enough, I don't think a beginner would get tmore enjoyment from using classic and modern because they're both on the same path and will press whatever lol.
Though playing the open beta right now. And I’m not the greatest either playing on classic but played a decent modern player. Its still honesty all about execution and timing. I think once a modern player doesn’t just throw combos out there they can be as dangerous as a classic player. Xian teaching Yosuke about what’s safe is also something you should add to the knowledge bank. But of course that’s if you wanna move up from a beginner.
Xian : '' when someone jumps press this button''
Mike : '' Let's start simple, this is called footsies''
Oh so you watched the video too
The way Mike knocked and walked into that room lmao
Lol😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like to think Mike walks into every room like that
he walked in like the meme with the dude in the yellow suit
lmao 😭

I love how they both intuitively got how the fundamentals work... and then decided on hectic button mashing lol
Yep...most beginner players do that haha.

The only reason it would be a barrier is because people don't take the time to learn the basics
