    • @goldenretriever6440
      @goldenretriever6440 3 года назад +12

      It really pisses me off frankly
      Ford could have easily updated it
      bare in mind in 2011 (the year the crown Vic was discontinued) the five liter coyote engine came out so a brand new power plant was there and ready
      And I imagine if police departments wanted an all wheel drive car they could have easily added that to a refereshed crown Vic
      And the Lincoln town car would have been possibly one of the most desirable luxury cars on the road
      But no Ford discontinued it
      And they’re missing out on a potential cash cow because people are scowering used car lots to find crown vics and town cars in good shapes

    Ford's 4WD auto system actually send power to both front and rear axles at all times, unless the front wheels are turned past a certain degree it will cut that power to the front wheels, unless slippage is detected it will engage the front again. On freeways the front axle's power will be cut over a certain speed (around 60 mph) to save on fuel economy, unless an agressive amount of power is put down for more acceleration.

    I have the 2020 and it’s good for my current assignment but I have noticed some short comings. One it gets 11.5 MPG average, and it’s not because I drive it fast because (2) you can’t drive it fast. Unless it is in a straight line, it will just one wheel peel. (3) the ten speed never knows what gear to pick, even in sport mode. You come up to clear an interaction, the 10 speed doesn’t know what to do, you floor it and it jumps all around, never knowing what’s happening. (4) it needs a bigger transmission cooler. Mine overheated the other day when I was in 4 wheel drive in some sand moving about 15 MPH and I had to stop and let it cool. (5) the 120 MPH limit is a joke. When I first got the truck, another officer was requesting a code 3 fill unit and I had wide open, flat, straight interstate with no cars and all I could do was 118. (6) it’s not that powerful. The 3.5 ecoboost is a dog.
    What I like is the room and being able to sit up and see. You can easily jump curbs or whatever you need to do. Mine has a protective partition and can only seat one person, but there’s more room than the chargers and the people back here complain way less.

    I assure you that I can rip right past 120 MPH in my F150, but I wouldn't want to sustain it for any period of time without the right tires, because a 120mph tire failure is not something that you want to try... However, aerodynamics and power are not the rate limiting factors on the 3.5 ecoboost, even with a 3.73 rear end.
