I had so many people roast me for saying “figure out what to draw” 😭 thanks for the review though Sam, my tips and tutorials will get better I promise 🙏🏻
On 6:52 as a Korean I can tell you this basically says that “A has no direction in the hair. To make it better make it the opposite of the hair overall flow however you should not make it as B.”
"I would love to meet you" Yea Sam me too me too 😭But ur drawings r really cool so at least the people who can't go have a chance to support you from their homes. Ya know, watching your sanity slowly deteriorate.
Genuinely, I love the breakdowns done of why the various tutorials may or may not be the best for using as a reference. It's very constructive, and honestly, some of the things that have been mentioned in previous videos and even in this one have actually helped me to improve in my own creative journey. Also love the conversations with the birbs in the beginning of the videos. Adorable, funny, and wholesome imo. lol Hope to see the continuation of videos and the like as time passes!
“Seek photosynthesis” 🤣 I love your humor man. You’re so relaxed but still really engaging and it’s so encouraging for the art babies I’ll be making fanart of Kara soon. Hope you’ll enjoy it 💜
11:08 me literally doing my skincare routine when he said that 👀 I always get so motivated to draw while watching these. I've tried so many new things, and it's made me change the way I approach my drawings. I feel like a better artist thanks to you :)
Don't you hate it when someone says that your art sucks because it isn't like theirs, like yeah it's a small thing but still makes me upset, am I overreacting?
Art cannot be wrong it is subjective and what one person thinks is ugly another thinks is the best piece ever created. No mistakes in art if you have no expectations.
5:11 aye what u caught me like that I'm literally in toilet pooping n while scrolling i got your video in feed n had to comment now after hearing this😂
Watching where the pen meets the canvas has always helped me get more accurate lines when using my drawing tablet too. So it works even when the surface you're drawing on is separate from the display it appears on.
Art is something that is learned, and I think that references should be considered the teacher. I mean, how are you supposed to draw something without seeing it first, or have an example. References fill the gap of a teacher, both telling you what you need to work on, and giving you the inspiration to do it on your own.
The definition of art is basically just making it. It doesn't matter how. You use paint? Pencils? Machinery? Maybe even paint with your finger... Art is art. It's how you imagine how it's supposed to be.
sometimes it is the tools, like when you get a bad pencil/pen or your sharpener chews the wood maybe you got the wrong paint or they changed it so now it looks different or acts off from the one your used to
My personal favorite when I struggle with drawing ideas is 1) art challenges and 2) let my playlist choose what mood I'm going for. Like a lot of songs have inspired me to make a character. I try coming up with 2 songs per character that describes them. Like maybe they're a romantic but their dark side is that they're willing to do ANYTHING for their love interest if said love interest asks.
4:37 BAHAHA Lol me and Sam literally had the same exact reaction even the hand on the chest thing Like i honestly get so flabbergasted when i see videos that just start of like " Reasons why your art SUCKS " Like damn i know my art is built like a wonky trash bin but damn
Whenever I don't know what to draw, I just draw Venti from Genshin Impact. That's how I ended up with my sketchbook that's solely dedicated to this guy
I felt the last tip was actually good...provided you know how mindmaps work. It's just going from broad concepts (some you don't have to think of - like animals, humans, fishes, automobiles - anything) to actually good ideas. You just start writing down everything about the concept you chose(in a web format). You can even connect some 2 end results you get from the web and just draw that! Like oh if I chose animals, I'd jot down all the animals ik of, and then each of their attributes. I can give an emphasis on those attributes or just go for a bit of realism. If you wanna go for fantasy type art then you could connect humans to animals. I'd either have a human posing with the animal I previously selected or give the animal's attributes to the human. Mindmapping is just gathering what you already know of and then connecting those things to come up with ideas.
5:27 I will say I do have a hard time with this but I also have had a head ingery and I have some hard time feeling/ having my body do things. (I'm also autistic and mind to body is a little disconnect) so I have a hard time doing slower drawing myself. I have shaky hands and just don't have a lot of control over my movements. Yet I've learned that chickenscratch (despite it being a 'non profetional' way to draw) is the best for me. It takes me longer, but I can have the control I lack even after years of drawing and practicing to get my hand eye coordination again. I've omgotten better but overall it's good to practice but I'd say do what makes you better at getting what you're inviting finished dproduct will be.
10:16 my father once told me that if i do math problems my mind would open and then my creativity and capacity to learn will be potenciated, and it actually works so, you could try that
at 10:13 for the not knowing what to draw problem, I was able to get around this problem by drawing my friend, drawing her helps me get out of my art block lol
If you want to draw but can't think of what to draw just draw what you feel like, when i want to pick what food i want it i just think about my mood and feel like i want to eat something soft so if you feel like you want to draw something that's flowing: hair, water, cloth then do that if you still can't think of anything to draw go sleep and draw the next day lol
Discouragement is a common companion on the artists journey, Every great masterpiece began as a timid line or a tentative sketch, Remember Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and Vincent van Gogh all struggled with self doubt just like you do if you believe your sketches are worthless, Their journey began with the same frustrations you face today, With each stroke, with each attempt, even failure can be a valuable lesson, helping you to identify areas for improvement and preventing similar mistakes in the future, you refine your skills getting closer to your own potential
I've actually done that second one, not with my first sketch but one of my cleanups and it actually did help, rendering a sketch and/or being a little bit more painterly instead of going into my old stiff and wonky lineart. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but it does work and feels like it makes things flow more if that makes sence.
As a professional artist, when you start drawing, I recommend drawing shapes in different perspectives, if you are having line art problems, start drawing lines on a notebook, make sure it is clear and does not stop randomly, and if your planning on giving up, just remember, "do what must be done because you can accomplish it, not because you desire to do it"
I have a childhood memory of when I was first learning to draw my dad (who used to do art but doesn’t anymore 😢) gave me the art tip that men’s chins were pointier and women’s were more rounded. So then I was jealous of men for having the more aesthetically pleasing chins. Now that I’m grown I realize that men are just hot.
Man, my traditional art looks SO much better then digital. I can barely draw a circle without using a tool in ditigal, yet I could draw the head of an axolotl in traditional.
You may not _need_ expensive at supplies, but if you get cheap ones, learn about them and their limitations. For example: If you originally learn to paint on a high end (not necessarily expensive, but certainly well made) watercolor paper and develop a taste for scrubbing and glazing, if you then proceed to try working on Canson XL, you're not going to get the same results. Now Canadian paper works beautifully for something like card making, or painting watercolor background for a mixed media project. If you try to scrub or if you glaze, it dissolves the paper, ripping it to shreds. Because I believed that you can make art on/with any material, the ensuing disaster felt like it was entirely my fault. _If you can make the art you want in anything, then the failure is on the artist_ right? I nearly gave up watercolor all together. I felt that because I couldn't get the paint to do what I could previously, the previous pieces were a fluke and I wasn't as skilled I had previously believed. So please, don't give up! The price may indicate quality. It doesn't mean you can't use it, just that you need to use it the way it was intended. Happy arting sisters and brothers!

You can scribble random shapes and turn it into whatever you see in the shapes, it's quite fun
You may not _need_ expensive at supplies, but if you get cheap ones, learn about them and their limitations. For example:

Because I believed that you can make art on/with any material, the ensuing disaster felt like it was entirely my fault.
_If you can make the art you want in anything, then the failure is on the artist_ right?
I nearly gave up watercolor all together. I felt that because I couldn't get the paint to do what I could previously, the previous pieces were a fluke and I wasn't as skilled I had previously believed.
So please, don't give up! The price may indicate quality. It doesn't mean you can't use it, just that you need to use it the way it was intended.
