I actually REALLY liked the one at 4:05 it helped me find a simple way to do cartoony ish characters, Ive been looking for something like this for ages
It's a ballpark estimate. For me it's three equal parts plus the thickness of my index finger on the upper most third. That's natural variation among humans. But it's still incredibly useful to have a baseline from where you can measure deviations for a given face. That way it's way easier to catch a likeness, compared to trying to get all the relations right from the start. I like to think about it as in the character editor of some video game. They always give you default faces to manipulate instead of a block of clay to carve your avatars face from. Because it's way easier that way. And the very same goes for portrait painting.
I feel like the first one was just some lady yapping about how somebodies art style isn’t good and than she proceeds to show how to draw in her or somebody else style ..
2:41 I agree with you, but this is another style, and I understand that she only wants to achieve the method of drawing a face, but the clip that she took to say is the most correct anime style. The anime style is a style that transcends all logic, and we all know that. It was only her choice of the clip that It was a wrong choice because S6loop anime is not limited to reality only. The video I put up only taught the style of what is in the anime, and it is not as if it was drawn in the wrong way.
I just draw how ever it suits me Everyones art style is different!! You dont have to change your art style to make others like you yknow! Your arts lovely, no matter what style you use It doesnt matter if you have a cartoon, anime, or realistic style ‼️YOUR ARTE VALID♡‼️
She also just decided randomly “let’s take this persons video and tell them why their drawing wrong!” Like they didn’t consent to you using their video
I usually hate the ‘it’s a different style’ excuse bc it’s used to cover up bad anatomy but yeah, the video she was trying to critique was drawing a face at a difficult angle and also just looked better than what she tried to correct it with.
that’s not the best mindset because art style is often used as an excuse for mistakes 😭 but yeah the lady was a little wacky bc the og art was jus from a different perspective
I do think there is value in learning anatomy even if you stylize but there is no right or wrong in breaking rules I agree. Basic anatomy helps you with consistency though. While you won't divide a face the exact same way either artists will do the rough measurements of the face tend to stay consistent from face to face. And if you create your own kind of anatomy then it's worth to study your own art constantly to keep breaking the rules consistently.
I am a really young artist (10-15) and I came across one of your videos. I thought it was really funny and entertaining and I thought that was all I was going to get out of it but you’ve inspired me to start art and just today I went and got some new art supplies!
