the fact that I watch Ashy Draws (the "let daddy Ashy squirt some drawing knowledge into your gaping mouth") and feel so happy when he makes it to Sams videos just to get humbled
Dear Sam, You inspired me to keep drawing when I thought I would quit drawing. You' ve taught me a lot of things.Thankyou very much! I will never stop drawing.
As a software engineer and someone who enjoys drawing (I refuse to refer to myself as an artist, I'm not there yet), AI brings me both joy and profound sadness. It brings me joy from a technological perspective because I appreciate how they are made, how they work..etc, and that amazes me. But from an artistic standpoint, it saddens me deeply to witness the prevalence of individuals appropriating other's people art or 'taking shortcuts' to replicate something that should hold a higher value: creativity. This internal conflict stirs a fierce debate within my mind.
Do you know when you will be there? When will you become an artist? What is it, that is'nt there yet? I think this is the most controversial question between artists. Because there are people who think, there are achievements that you have to achieve in order to be called an artist, and there are people who don't think so. But is it true? Are there these rules? Could it be an elitist view, of an exclusive group? If so, do they feel threatened? I think there are so many different ways of art, artstyls and ways to express yourself, that it's impossible there are these fixed rules, goals and archievements. As an creative person, doing creativ things, who has long denied myself of being an artist, I find the perspective that everyone is an artist, in their own way, very inspiring and relieving. In my humble opinion, the term "artist" is put far too much on a pedestal, as such an incredibly important title. I think it's a shame that we creative people often struggle so hard because we are told, from a socially determined point of view, that we are'nt good enough (yet) to call ourselves artists. I hope you find the brave, someday, to call yourself proud an artist, and be fullheardly an artist. Maybe when you destroy all those things, you think you have to know/master, to become an artist? I hope to inspire you or someone here to think about it and to get out of these self-deprecating thoughts. Just my opinion, I don't want to force anything on anyone. ❤
"appropriating other's people art" LOOOOOL! *_It's The Stretch Of The Century Ladies and Gentlemen!_* Tell me, is it any less "appropriation" when I scroll through pinterest for references? When I save pictures to my computer to use as reference dumps for later? Why is it suddenly bad when a machine can do it? Why shouldn't Fair Use be equally applied to software? And are you prepared for the decades increasing slipperly slope that is more holes in the Fair Use doctrine? You really wanna buff up Copyright Law's protections even more than they already are? Limiting the scope of creativity and creation is *always* a bad thing; it *always* leads to bad things; it *always* has unintended consequences. That, and on a purely principled standpoint, no one should have any right to tell anyone else how they can or cannot create art. The creation of art is sacred, it is paramount to any well-functioning society and culture, and *any* attempts to limit its creation must be swiftly snuffed out.

3:20 I usually start with a grey because white is too harsh for my eyes and I end up with bad eye strain, but good to know the reason why other artists use grey as a background to begin with.
