I just bought this model as my first camera, I like the features it has and I can't wait to get outside with it once it arrives .
I also like the Bluetooth capabilities which allow the transfer of pics to your phone.

AA bateri is the best part .. I don't have to worried to find any wall plug in the middle of nowhere .... just bring couple of batteries.. that's all

I like the long Zoom but I'm also interested to see what the closest clear shot I can take without the zoom and what is the ISO range? I hear it's 125 to 6400 but I don't know that for sure and it'll be nice to have shown that in the video too.
You have a point here... when traveling just bring the camera as AA batteries can be bought well.... anywhere!
I think this is the perfect camera for starters. Not too expensive and really easy to use. I love it

Justin P Vlogs hey, you can't charge it with a PowerBank, only 4 AA batteries, I would recommend you to buy rechargeable ones =)
I think thats the best part. they are easy to get and if they are rechargable, even better ! and i bet you get better battery life too !
I think double AA is great. I already use rechargeable and I won't be forced to buy proprietary batteries that will have no other use.
Why don't they have AA batteries where you live?
I just bought the B500 and the battery was also my first concern but now I'm surprised how long the battery life is of this camera even with cheap battery's It's amazing

Yeah I would just get the B700, which is a step up from the B500, because it can record 4K movies, 60x zoom,full 180 and tiltable screen which can be used for vlogging or selfies, and has a rechargable battery. its $200 more, but it make sense because of the more features.
Yep! I am waiting for the B700; all round better specs but it has been delayed and won't be available in the UK until around October 2016!

B700 is okay but the battery life SUCKS. If you use snapbridge for anything and take about 20 pictures your battery will be exhausted. I was using it for real estate inspection photos and I took it back because im in the field a lot and the battery life is abysmal. Features are great; the lens is a bit overkill for what I was using and I didnt need video capability, so I stepped down to the B500.

I will say too, I am a Britain-based Teen trainspotter, and this is my first proper camera. The first time I used this, back in April, I had no problem, and I have honestly learned to love it. Best Birthday present ever!

Warning: it uses up batteries something fierce. He says he gets some 230 shots per battery load; you could take anywhere form 400-500 photos in an afternoon of tourist photography. Buying rechargeable batteries works great and is economical.
I have this camera and it eats through batteries so fast. I don’t recommend it personally but good review 👍🏻

I have both the B500 I got used recently, and the B700 i got new, both came out Feb 2016. The B700 is bigger, has EVF, 20mp, articulating screen and will shoot 4k. Both are small sensor super zooms. I like both, but B500 is smaller and kind of fun to use sometimes.
Got this coolpix for Christmas this year! I told my ma I wanted something to be able to travel with to take pics that arent just from my so so camera on my phone. Really great to know how great it really is! im excited to use the 40x zoom! Off to adventuring I go!!!

Hi ALL. So many don't seem to understand that the drop off in f stops at full zoom is a serious setback in most superzooms. However, the Panasonic FZ300 maintains a full f2.8 up to 600 mm equivalent through Leica glass. That's impressive!
It does not have a 1 inch sensor.... The new DL series is going to have a 1inch sensor..
Correct-it has the smaller 1/2.3 inch sensor-needs to get his facts straight before putting a video out as some people could be misled.
There is a hell and heaven difference between the performance of a 1" sensor and a 1/2.3" sensor.
So it is very important to give true facts. I think this camera is good though. But I have my doubts regarding its auto focus speed and it kind of over exposes at times. It would have been nice if he had clarified those along with a stabilization test.
Sorry if this is a really beginner question but, does this camera blur our the background in photos and videos when focusing?
got one... very light and handy, works very much like my old Coolpix L100 (instinctive and easy controls) only better. I shot in low light in the house, and it's pretty darn good. Even on zoom. Taking it kayaking tomorrow, fit in the dry box, handles nicely as the L100 did, but a bit easier to grip. tilt screen is very useful.
When you buy this camera, you can also charge the battery , the charger is included in the pachlkage

I'm looking for a first camera and I really like this camera, but I find it a little disappointing that it runs on batteries. Not sure if it's just me or if other people feel the same way as well.
Just get rechargeable batteries , they are readily available and do the same as one rechargeable , and you still have the choice of using ordinary !!

Just bought it and im super happy with my purchase! It takes wonderfull pics and is easy to use, for a starter camera i think it is perfect. For the batteries, just buy rechargeables ones. Ive had the same for almost 5 years and still works.

I'd say a refurbished Canon g9x ii, they are $320 on the Canon refurbished store, or a Canon sx 420 hs, which is cheaper at $229 new

Haaa so did I! It’s 2020 and I purchased one. Yet to try it out. So it has a one inch sensor? That’s really impressive. I’m not keen in the AA battery idea.. but it’s not bad.
Panasonic Lumix FZ-72/82 has an optical zoom of 60x or an equivalent lens of 1200 mm, and a smart zoom to make the total zoom 300x, it also has a LOT of manual settings , I would prefer that one.

This camera is basically the old L820 with a tilt screen and 10X extra zoom for $100 more.
I have the L820 and it's a great camera for video bloging.
The AA batteries allow instant recharge/ changeover plus long life - just use the highest milli amp hour Lithiums available.
However, still no microphone jack. Not good enough Nikon.

Ordered this thinking it would be like our other Nikons, then found out it has no manual controls. Trying to cancel now!
I already knew about the lack of a normal viewfinder (screen only), and the AA batteries. The AA's are not much of a problem, though they take forever to recharge. I was on a recent photo op trip, and shooting a one-room schoolhouse when the battery on my regular Nikon. No place around to plug in and I'd forgotten my power inverter for the car, so I had to finish the shoot with my smartphone. AA's would have eliminated that situation.

When it gets a bit darker, it gets grainy and messy. How much darker are you talking about? It does have a built in flash so indoor and closer outdoor photos should be fine then, right?

I was startled to hear that the B500 has a 1" sensor; what were you smoking? It has the common size 1/2.3" sensor just like every other ultrazoom. For a while there I thought it was using the sensor from the Nikon 1 series.
I have the camera and to all worried about buying it due to batteries, it is really not bad they are rechargeable batteries and the charge holds for a really long time, great camera the zoom is incredible

Nice vid! Going to USVI next week was looking for a nice superzoom. Had the LX840 before and really loved its general cheap, use it and abuse it feel, the handle and the reach. Just wish they made the battery rechargeable or built-in. Can't carry battery on carry-on and batteries are expensive over there, AND chances are I already have a USB charging hub and the cable needed to charge it up....
Wish the B700 or A900 didn't get delayed. Don't want to get P900 either since it is bigger and likely there will be a B900.
