    driven the CX-8 and was surprised at how it drove and felt like a full size executive saloon from a premium brand for such a tall and boxy minivan 2.0 with just too many seats. Almost Audi A8 or Lexus LS level smoothness and noise insulation. It's not just exceptionally comfortable but also its suspension and 2.2 diesel are seriously refined and dynamic, like it's on another level. family hauler with no compromises.

    Test drove all of these and the 5008 blew me away. Styling, practical and comfort. What they should of done in this review is move the middle seats over and the back seats there is heaps of room. I'm 6 2 and had no issues. I really wanted to like the kodiak but it was typical Germanic borefest same as the Tiguan.

  • @goonie1975
    @goonie1975 6 лет назад +7

    The rankings at the end didn't match the rest of the video, going on the comments I was sure it was going to be, 5008, Sorento, Kodiaq, Tiguan (could swap the 2 VW group cars), Santa Fe then CX-8, from the video the CX-8 seemed to have the best engine/gearbox combo, best seating, best ride, quietest cabin and great interior, best third row, and heaps of room, really not sure what happened there, very confused.

    It is funny how Australians, South Africans, US and European channels differently rate cars.
    You noticed missing extras in the Allspace for example. In Europe you can get it like you want it. Of course there are packages, but you add what you need.
    It is really funny, overall in most European tests I know the Tiguan and Allspace wins in any kind of.
    Have you ever seen the Allspace with trim level full R-Line? Puh awesome! Get one and compare it with the other brands... They can deliver such design...

      Not really understanding why you say that Jan? "Simply miles ahead..." in what ways?

    • @JandeMooij
      @JandeMooij 6 лет назад

      @Duane Dempster : 1) Warranty (3 vs. 5 years) 2) Innovation (look at the electronic & safety features in the Santa Fe) 3) Interior (Santa Fe is way more elegant 4) Seat space, especially in the 3rd row 5) full spare wheel, not space saver 6) customer satisfaction (look at reviews of the Allspace in terms of after-warranty faults)

    • @23DuDe
      @23DuDe 6 лет назад +2

      Jan I would say a lot of what you've said is a mixed bag of issues not just with VW. I'll respond as you have:
      1. Warranty length is something that needs to be positioned correctly. While 3 year warranty might be shorter than offered by many, it has been a fairly typical duration for a while. The main reason why Koreans moved to longer warranties (example: why do Hyundai provide only 5 years compared to Kia at 7? Because it helps buyers consider Kia as they have always been the cheaper cousin even though the vehicles are pretty much just a badge change!). VW introduced the 3 year warranty back in the 90s and at the time I don't think there were too many other manufacturers doing the same.
      2. Innovation isn't just with the Santa Fe or Hyundai generally. In fact Kia has had better innovation in the last 3 years and yet Hyundai had access to the same. The latest innovative things in any new car aren't too different between any brand. I'd say VW and Hyundai and many others are exactly the same. I could say the same thing about Skoda. They are a VW product and yet they come with more bells and whistles, longer warranties (5 years) for a lower cost than VW. Why? Because they are trying to grow and put a proposition in front of customers that shows increased value when compared to the competition.
      3. Interior 'elegance' is personal thing. I, for example, much prefer the understated VW interiors and find the Hyundai to have a cheaper presence, especially compared to the latest models from VW. But it's a personal thing.
      4. Seat space, yep I agree, but as I don't really intend on using it for anyone other than young kids on occasion, it has little focus from me. I'd also say that I don't think the Santa Fe is really that much larger in the back.
      5. Spare wheel... As I haven't and don't intend on using a spare wheel, I'd rather they take it out altogether and save weight and improve fuel economy.
      6. Customer service... I totally disagree with anyone about this. I've never had a worse experience with VW than any other manufacturer. I've had about 6 VWs and 13 other vehicles of different brands, including Hyundai, Lexus, BMW Mitsubishi, etc, etc, and they ALL have issues. I've found it to be more about the dealer than the brand (most of the time) but if I have had a proper issue, the manufacturers have all risen to the occasion md resolved my issue without too much drama at all.

    Wait for the next Sorento. The Santa Fe that they r loathing of is exactly the current gen Sorento with different tuning and some new safety features, but going for the family design the front looks ugly. They have a Santa Fe Sport in the US that was the last gen Santa Fe sold here with add on 3rd row hence looked like an afterthought. They also have a Santa Fe Grand that mimicked the Sorento. Now here down under, they ditched the Sport for the Grand this generation.The Sorento should be higher than the VW.

      Too expensive to pass the US's emissions restrictions. The US has the world's most strict emissions standards for diesel engined cars, which were set to protect its domestic auto manufacturers from technologically advanced Japanese/ European brands. The US government demands diesels to be exactly as clean as normal gas fueled cars but it's impossible and does not make sense.
